Who builds the Segway eBike line, what all seven models cost and weigh, what outside tests and owners report, and where each one stands under your state's law.

Six bikes we sell stand beside them. The cover bike is Segway's own photograph of its Myon in green, in a studio we built.

Quick Answer — Segway Inc. sells seven e-bikes and electric dirt machines in the US, from $1,299.99 to $5,299.99 on November 6, 2026. Its warranties name Ninebot companies as the manufacturers, and Ninebot Limited's filing lists Segway Inc. as a 100% subsidiary. Five models have class settings; the Xyber and Xaber 300 are off-road machines.

Outside tests rate the bikes well: OutdoorGearLab scored the Myon, Xafari and Xyber at 84 to 97 of 100. Of the 54 owner reports we read, 36 are plainly happy, and the complaints that repeat are about software and support (what reviewers and owners report).

If you are shopping, six bikes we sell stand beside the Segway models, from $1,099, and every e-bike we sell ships free to the contiguous United States (our shipping policy).

Nine recalls in the Consumer Product Safety Commission's database name Segway or Ninebot products, from 2003 to 2025, and none of the nine names a Segway e-bike or the Xaber 300, read on November 3, 2026 (CPSC recalls). The safety section lists all nine.

Segway links UL 2849 certificates for the Xafari, Myon, MUXI and Xyber from their product pages, and the MUXI Pro and Xyber Air manuals each print "This product complies with ANSI/CAN/UL 2849." The certificate table matches each one to its model number.

The class setting and the motor decide where a Segway reads as an e-bike. At its Class 2 setting the 500 W Myon sits inside the e-bike definition in 48 of the 51 US jurisdictions and the 750 W models in 29, and the Xyber and Xaber 300 sit outside it in all 49 that write one (where each Segway stands).

Segway's FAQ says "Xyber is designed for off-road use only" (Segway's Xyber page), and the Xaber 300 manual says "This product must not be ridden on public roads" (the Xaber 300 manual).

What decides a Segway Where you will ride it, and the class setting you will ride in. Read your state's line at that setting before you order, and our e-bike brands list sets Segway beside the other brands we cover.

How we verified this profile. Written by Milad Ghobadibeygvand, BScN (Western University, 2014). Verified November 7, 2026.

Segway's US store was read on November 3, November 6 and November 7, 2026: its product record, every e-bike and dirt-bike listing, its policies, 39 of 39 posts on its blog, and the 28 manuals, warranties and certificates it links, saved and searched.

Ninebot Limited's half-year report, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office's records, UL's certificates, TÜV Rheinland's certificate register, the CPSC's recall, warning and news-release records, the statutes and the six cards' prices, stock and specifications at their makers were read from November 3 to November 6, 2026.

Every count on the page comes from a saved file that can be re-run, and the seven models are published as data, in CSV and JSON.

Outside reviews were read at each outlet, and the 205 Reddit posts a search returned for a current model were each read and sorted by hand. All 132 sources the page cites were retrieved in full, and every quotation was read back against its saved copy.

Who makes Segway e-bikes, and where are they made?

Segway's own warranties name the makers: Ninebot (Changzhou) Tech Co., Ltd. for the Myon, MUXI, MUXI Pro and Xyber Air, Ninebot New Energy Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd. for the Xafari and Xyber, and Nine Tech Co., Ltd. for the Xaber 300. Segway Inc. distributes them, and in the US it answers for the warranty.

Each warranty names its maker in its contact section. The Xafari's reads "Product is manufactured by Ninebot New Energy Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd. and distributed by Segway Inc." (the Xafari warranty), and the Xaber 300's reads "Product is manufactured by Nine Tech Co., Ltd. and distributed by Segway Inc.", in an agreement whose opening clause calls the maker "NINEBOT" (the Xaber 300 warranty).

The Myon, MUXI, MUXI Pro and Xyber Air warranties each print Ninebot (Changzhou) Tech Co., Ltd. in that line, and each says the US warranty is Segway Inc.'s to honor: "In the U.S.A., Segway Inc. is responsible for American consumers/customers" under its terms (Myon, MUXI, MUXI Pro, Xyber Air).

The company you buy from

Your order is with Segway Inc. Its store terms are "entered into by and between You and Segway Inc.", and the site "is operated by Segway Inc., 5308 W Plano Pkwy, Plano, TX 75093" (Segway's terms of service). The records place the same company at more than one address, so here is each one and what it is for.

Record What it prints for Segway Inc. Use it for
Store terms 5308 W Plano Pkwy, Plano, TX 75093 Who sells the bike online
Federal trademark record A Delaware corporation, 14 Technology Drive, Bedford, New Hampshire Who owns the SEGWAY name
Warranties P.O. Box 661805, Arcadia, CA 91066 Where a warranty or arbitration letter goes
CPSC recall 25-193 "Segway Inc., of Los Angeles, California" Who imported a recalled product

Segway Inc. holds registration 7,553,713 for SEGWAY, whose goods include "Electric bicycles" (the USPTO's SEGWAY record), and registration 8,328,975 for MYON, dated June 30, 2026 (the USPTO's MYON record).

Who owns Segway

Ninebot Limited owns Segway Inc. Its report for the six months to June 30, 2025, lists Segway Inc. in its table of subsidiaries at a 100.00 percent holding, registered and operating in the United States, in the business of design, research and development, production, promotion, sales and after-sales service (Ninebot Limited's 2025 half-year report, in Chinese).

The same report says Ninebot Limited was formed under Cayman Islands company law, and its stock code on the Shanghai Stock Exchange's STAR Market is 689009. Its 2023 sustainability report dates the purchase to 2015 and says Segway Inc. was founded in Bedford in 1999 (Ninebot's 2023 sustainability report, in Chinese).

Segway's own timeline runs the same way: Dean Kamen's founding in 1999, a Bedford plant in 2001, "Segway is acquired by Summit Strategic Investments, LLC" in February 2013, then, in April 2015, "Segway and Ninebot, Inc. complete strategic combination" (Segway's about page).

The two companies met as opponents. On September 9, 2014, Segway Inc. and DEKA filed a patent complaint at the U.S. International Trade Commission (the Federal Register notice), and the Commission's record names Ninebot companies among the respondents. The combination came the next April (Segway's about page), and the case against them ended "by settlement" that August (the Commission's 2016 notice).

By ownership, Segway belongs to a China-based group; by incorporation, the company you buy from is American. You buy from a Delaware corporation with a Texas store address. Ninebot's half-year report gives its office address in Beijing's Haidian District and its registered address in the Cayman Islands, and its sustainability report dates its founding to Beijing in 2012. The makers the warranties name are Ninebot companies.

Where the bikes are made

Across its store pages, FAQs, blog, manuals and warranties, Segway names no country of manufacture for the six e-bikes. What the documents give you is the company and its address, and the rest of this section is that record.

UL's certificates for the Xafari, Xyber, Myon and MUXI are issued to Ninebot (Changzhou) Tech Co., Ltd. at "No.18, Changwu Mid Rd", Wujin District, Changzhou, Jiangsu, China (the Myon's UL 2849 certificate). Ninebot's half-year report describes that company's business as product research, production and sales, and its sustainability report refers to the company's production plant.

The Xaber 300 manual goes further than the others: "Manufacturer: Nine Tech Co., Ltd." at "1 Xingben Road, Xinbei District, Changzhou, Jiangsu Province 213001, CHINA", with "Distributor: Segway Inc." (the Xaber 300 manual). No document we read says which plant builds which e-bike, so if country of origin decides your purchase, ask Segway in writing before you order.

How Segway describes its e-bikes

Segway says its e-bikes "are ideal for commuters, casual riders, and weekend explorers", and that "Models vary in power and comfort to suit city, trail, or hybrid riding" (Segway's Xafari page). Its dealers are part of the plan: your order goes through a dealer you choose at checkout, as delivery and assembly sets out, and that dealer is also where repairs happen.

Segway's own post quotes three reviewers: Popular Science on the MUXI ("the most stylish, features-stacked cargo e-bike I've tried"), Tom's Guide on the Myon ("the Segway Myon is at the top of my list") and Rider Guide on the MUXI Pro ("it's the best in its class, and we score it 94 out of 100") (Segway's Black Friday post).

Those are the reviewers' words as Segway reports them. What reviewers and owners report sets out what those tests and others measured, and what they faulted.

The safety record and the UL certificates

Nine recalls in the CPSC database name Segway or Ninebot products, and none of the nine names a Segway e-bike, the Xyber or the Xaber 300. We read all 10,070 records in the database on November 3, 2026 (CPSC recalls). Four cover the original Personal Transporter and its chargers, two cover utility vehicles, two cover kick scooters and one covers children's helmets.

March 20, 2025 25-193 Ninebot Max G30P and G30LP KickScooters About 220,000

The Commission's 382 product safety warnings name none of the Segway names we searched, read again on November 6, 2026 (CPSC's warnings file). Among its news releases, one does: on August 24, 2022, release 22-204 reported a $5 million civil penalty for Segway Powersports Inc., of McKinney, Texas, for unlawfully importing ATVs (CPSC news releases).

The UL certificates, model by model

UL files these certificates under "Electrical Systems for E-Bikes", and Segway links one for four of the seven. All four are issued to Ninebot (Changzhou) Tech Co., Ltd. under ANSI/CAN/UL 2849:2022A. Match the model number on your bike's label to this table, because a certificate covers the model it prints.

Segway model Model number in its manual UL 2849 line Battery line (UL 2271)
Xafari 210101U UL-US-2441188-0, October 21, 2024 UL-US-2432386-0, pack NKBP4820B

MUXI Pro 210502U Its manual prints the compliance line; no certificate file on the listing we read Ask Segway for the certificate
Xyber Air 210601U Its manual prints the line, and its page says "UL 2271 and UL 2849 certifications" Ask Segway for the certificate
Xaber 300 Xaber 300 No UL 2849 line in its manual or on its listing UL-US-26101518-0, pack NHSP7244B

The compliance lines are in the MUXI Pro manual and the Xyber Air manual. If your building, landlord or insurer asks for a certificate on either bike, get the file from Segway before you order.

The Xaber 300's battery charger carries a separate TÜV Rheinland certificate, CU 72504687 0001, to UL 62368-1, held by Powerland Technology Inc. (the certificate Segway links).

TÜV Rheinland's public register lists 62 results for SEGWAY and more than 230 for NINEBOT, mostly scooters and chargers. Its e-bike records, to the European standard EN 15194, name models A200, A200P and A300 (the A200 record, the A300 record), and none of the three is on Segway's US store. A search for each of the six model numbers above returned nothing, so UL's certificates are the ones to read for these bikes.

What the record means for you No federal record we read names a Segway e-bike, and four of the seven models have a UL 2849 certificate you can open yourself. Keep the certificate with your receipt, and check the model number on your bike's label against the table above.

The Segway eBike lineup: seven models side by side

Segway's US store sells five e-bikes with class settings and two off-road machines, and every listing read in stock on November 6, 2026. The Xafari, Myon and Xyber were priced below Segway's regular price that day. Segway's post of October 30, 2026, sets out Black Friday pricing for everyone from November 19 to 30 (Segway's Black Friday post), so read the price on the day you buy.

Model Segway's price Motor Top speeds Segway prints Battery and rated range Weight
Xafari $1,299.99, regular $2,399.99 750 W rated 20 mph; 28 mph Class 3 setting 936 Wh, up to 88 miles 92.5 lb
Myon $1,599.99, regular $1,999.99 500 W rated, 1,500 W peak 20 mph; 28 mph Class 3 setting 722 Wh, up to 80 miles 72.75 lb
MUXI $1,699.99 750 W rated 20 mph; 23 mph Class 3 setting 717 Wh, up to 80 miles 72.75 lb
MUXI Pro $1,999.99 750 W rated 20 mph; 28 mph Class 3 setting 717 Wh, up to 73 miles 82.2 lb
Xyber Air $1,999.99 750 W rated 20 mph; 28 mph Class 3 setting 717 Wh, up to 58 miles 84 lb
Xyber $2,299.99, regular $3,299.99 750 W nominal, 3,000 W maximum (manual) 35 mph (manual); 43 mph with both batteries (page) 1,440 Wh, up to 56 miles, 112 with two batteries 146.4 lb
Xaber 300 $5,299.99 8 kW nominal, 21 kW maximum (manual) 60 mph 3,110.4 Wh (manual), up to 74.6 miles at 31.1 mph 187 lb

The seven are also published as data, with their prices, figures, model numbers, makers, certificates and screen counts: the dataset, with every listing, document and conflict between a page and its manual.

The Myon: the commuter

The Segway Myon in blue from the side: a step-through commuter e-bike with a rear rack and fenders, in Segway's own photograph

Segway's own photograph of the Myon, from its blue listing.

If your ride is the same ten miles of pavement every day, this is the Segway built for it. Its page prints an 85 Nm motor with a torque sensor and Shimano Cues 9-speed electronic shifting, on 27.5 x 1.95-inch tires with an 80 mm fork (Segway's Myon page), and Segway's blog says it "does the shifting for you" (Segway's Black Friday post).

It is the one 500 W model of the seven, which is why it sits inside more state definitions than any other Segway.

The MUXI and MUXI Pro: the utility bikes

The Segway MUXI in light green from the side: a short utility e-bike on 20-inch wheels with tan-wall tires and a rear rack, in Segway's own photograph

Segway's own photograph of the MUXI, from its light green listing.

These two are for the school run and the grocery run. Both carry a rear rack rated for 121 lb and both print a 265 lb rider limit (Segway's MUXI Pro page), and Segway's Passenger Kit, sold separately, takes one adult on the rack (Segway's MUXI page). Popular Science puts that seat at "a rider up to 120 lbs." (its MUXI review), so check your passenger against the number.

The MUXI is the simpler bike, single-speed on a rigid fork with a 33 lb basket rating. The MUXI Pro adds a 9-speed drivetrain with electronic auto shifting and a 70 mm fork for $300 and about 9.5 lb more.

The Segway MUXI Pro in black from the side: a short utility e-bike with a suspension fork, a rear derailleur and a rear rack, in Segway's own photograph

Segway's own photograph of the MUXI Pro, from its black listing.

The MUXI's FAQ lists a traction control system, Hill Descent Control and Hill Start Assist on its direct-drive motor (Segway's MUXI page). If you ride in the wet or on steep streets with a child on the back, those are the features to look at.

The Xafari: the fat-tire bike

The Segway Xafari from the side: a step-through fat-tire e-bike with rear suspension and a rear rack, in Segway's own photograph

Segway's own photograph of the Xafari.

The Xafari was the lowest-priced Segway on November 6, 2026, at $1,299.99 against a $2,399.99 regular price, and it carries suspension front and rear, 26 x 3.0-inch tires and the largest battery of the five with class settings at 936 Wh (Segway's Xafari page).

You pay for that in weight. At 92.5 lb it is the heaviest of the five, and its FAQ asks for a car rack tray rated for 100 lb (the Xafari FAQ).

The Xyber Air: the moto look for the street

The Segway Xyber Air in silver from the side: a moto-style e-bike with a long flat seat on 20 x 4.0-inch tires, in Segway's own photograph

Segway's own photograph of the Xyber Air, from its silver listing.

The Xyber Air carries the Xyber's look to pavement: Segway says it "brings the same moto style to the street as a Class 1, 2 or 3 eBike", on 20 x 4.0-inch tires with an 80 mm fork (Segway's Xyber Air vs. Xyber post).

It is single-speed with a fixed seat, and Segway's own review roundup says that makes it "a better fit for short, paved rides than long pedaling days" (Segway's Xyber Air reviews post).

The Xyber: 3,000 watts for off-road ground

The Segway Xyber from the side: a heavy moto-style e-bike with a long seat, full suspension and 20 x 5.0-inch tires, in Segway's own photograph

Segway's own photograph of the Xyber.

If you own land or ride a trail system that allows it, the Xyber gives you 110 mm of front and 100 mm of rear travel on 20 x 5.0-inch tires, and "2 Batteries= 6000 Watts" on the page (Segway's Xyber page).

Segway titles it the Xyber Electric Bike and files it under eDirt Bike, and its manual prints "Off road only". The same manual calls it an eBike "provided with functional pedals", while OutdoorGearLab found "the pedals exist less for propulsion". Its FAQ says the seat "is not adjustable" and that it "is not designed to carry additional passengers".

Some say Class 2 at its 20 mph default. OutdoorGearLab wrote that it "ships as a compliant Class 2 e-bike", and an owner posted the Class 2 sticker from inside the frame (r/ebikes). Segway's FAQ answers the road question with "Xyber is designed for off-road use only", so plan on Segway's answer, as the screen does.

The Xaber 300: a full-size electric dirt bike

The Segway Xaber 300 from the side: a full-size electric dirt bike with a red frame and knobby tires, in Segway's own photograph

Segway's own photograph of the Xaber 300.

The Xaber 300 is a full-size dirt machine, built for off-road riding: 8 kW nominal, 21 kW maximum and 60 mph in Beast mode, with modes that step from 150 to 300 and a one-button reverse (Segway's Xaber 300 page). Segway's blog says it "is not street legal and is recommended for riders 18+" (Segway's Xaber 300 reviews post).

Myon or Xafari, MUXI or MUXI Pro: the pairs buyers ask about

Inside the lineup, the choice comes down to weight, motor and suspension. Prices are Segway's on November 6, 2026, and the model sections above carry the figures.

The pair Price gap Weight gap What decides it
Myon or Xafari Myon $300 more Xafari 19.75 lb heavier 500 W, electronic shifting and 27.5-inch tires for pavement, or 750 W, 26 x 3.0-inch tires and rear suspension for rough ground
Myon or MUXI MUXI $100 more Same weight Nine gears and 27.5-inch wheels, or 750 W, one gear and a 121 lb rack
MUXI or MUXI Pro Pro $300 more Pro 9.45 lb heavier The Pro adds nine auto-shifted gears, a 70 mm fork and a 28 mph setting
MUXI or Xafari MUXI $400 more Xafari 19.75 lb heavier A rigid fork and a 121 lb rack, or suspension at both ends and wider tires
Xyber Air or Xyber Xyber $300 more Xyber 62.4 lb heavier Class settings for the street, or off-road power at up to 43 mph

Shoppers also set these bikes beside other brands. In the Reddit threads we read, they set the Myon and MUXI against Aventon and Velotric models. Segway's own FAQ compares the MUXI Pro with an Aventon. Our Aventon profile and Velotric profile cover those brands.

Which top speed to plan on

Plan on the higher figure for the law and the lower one for your commute, because Segway prints two for most models. The product pages print the top class setting. The manuals print the Class 2 figure: the Xafari, Myon and MUXI Pro at "Close to, but less than 20 mph (32 km/h) (Class 2 Standard)", the MUXI at "20 mph (32 km/h) (Class 2 Standard)" (Xafari, Myon, MUXI Pro and MUXI manuals).

The MUXI's Class 3 setting stops at 23 mph where the Myon, MUXI Pro, Xafari and Xyber Air print 28, so if you want a 28 mph setting, read that row before you buy the MUXI. The Xafari, Myon, MUXI and MUXI Pro pages carry the footnote "Where permitted by law", and the Xyber Air's Hybrid line ends "*Except CA".

The Xyber prints three figures. Its page says "43 mph with both batteries installed", its manual says "35 mph (56 km/h)", and its FAQ says it "is delivered at a default setting of 20 mph top speed" with 35 mph available in Segway's app. We plan on 43 mph, the highest Segway prints, in every legal reading on this page.

Sizing: age, height and load

Five manuals print a rider height range, and the numbers below are Segway's. Segway's site FAQ says "most models weighing between 50–70 lbs", while the seven product pages print 72.75 to 187 lb, so plan on the product page.

Model Rider height in its manual Rider or load limit Segway prints
Xafari 155—190 cm 265 lb rider (manual), 352 lb payload (page)
Myon 5'3"—6'4" 264 lb rider, 300 lb total
MUXI 5'1"—6'1" 265 lb rider, 418.9 lb vehicle
MUXI Pro 4'8"—6' 265 lb rider, 418.9 lb vehicle
Xyber Air 5'1"—6'4" (the page prints 4'8" ~ 6') 330 lb payload
Xyber No height row in its manual, and the seat does not adjust 396.8 lb payload
Xaber 300 No height row in its manual 150 kg payload (page)

The Xafari's manual prints its heights as 5'09''—6'23'' beside 155—190 cm, so the table uses the centimeters, about 5'1" to 6'3". The Xyber Air's page and manual disagree on height; if you are near either end, sit on one at a dealer.

Range, charging and water

Each rated range comes from set test conditions. The MUXI's figure assumes a 165 lb load and "constant speed of 15.5 mph (25 km/h) with 50% pedal assist", and the MUXI Pro's 12.4 mph with 20 percent assist (the MUXI manual, the MUXI Pro manual). A heavier rider, a faster pace or a loaded rack can cut it.

Outside tests at full power or on throttle alone covered 31 to 52 percent of the rated figure on the Myon, Xafari and MUXI Pro, and 73 to 79 percent on the Xyber (what reviewers measured).

The pages print charge times from about 3.7 hours on the Xyber to 7 hours on the MUXI Pro and Xyber Air. The Xyber's manual prints about 77 km at 20 mph, where its page prints up to 56 miles, so plan on the lower figure. All six e-bikes print IPX5 for the body, and the manual is the place to read before you wash one.

Smart features and the subscription

Segway builds its pitch around the app, and part of it is a paid service after year one. AirLock unlocks the bike as your phone approaches, and Apple Find My works on the bikes Segway lists it for.

"Subscription to enhanced connection services is free with purchase of one of our eBikes for the first year", and after that "Network and cloud-based services require a subscription" (Segway's Xafari page). Budget for it if GPS tracking is the reason you are buying.

Older Segway dirt models: the X160 and X260

The X260's address now opens the Xaber 300 page, whose title calls it "The Evolution of X260" (Segway's Xaber 300 page). Segway's store listed the X260 at $4,999.00 on May 11, 2020 (archived) and at "As low as $6,499.99", out of stock, on December 3, 2024 (archived), with 46.6 mph and 74.6 miles of rated range.

The X160 read 31.1 mph, 40.4 miles and $3,499.99 on May 22, 2020 (archived). The word "eBike" in those names decides nothing under state law: at those speeds, a state's own definition is what you read, and the screen shows how the Xaber 300 reads today.

Buyers still ask whether these are Sur-Ron bikes. In 2019, Segway-Ninebot's marketing director told Electrek that "Segway is actually the majority owner of Sur Ron", and Sur-Ron said it "obtained investment from Segway" (Electrek). The Xaber 300 is a different case: its manual names Nine Tech Co., Ltd. as manufacturer.

What reviewers and owners report

Outside tests rate these bikes well, and most owners who post are happy; the complaints that repeat are about software and support. OutdoorGearLab scored three models at 84 to 97 of 100. Of 54 owner reports we read, 36 are plainly happy with the bike and 29 raise a complaint, often in the same post. The largest group of complaints, 14, concerns the app, firmware or support.

What the reviewers measured

Model Who tested it What it found What it faulted
Myon OutdoorGearLab, April 14, 2026: 84 of 100 36.1 miles on throttle at full power with over 1,300 feet of climbing "that tech may be off-putting for some"
Myon Electric Bike Review, September 8, 2026 82.1 miles on minimum assist and 41.26 on full power Auto shift "a little slow to drop gears" on steeper hills
Xafari OutdoorGearLab, April 14, 2025: 92 of 100 38.2 miles on throttle with nearly 2,000 feet of climbing "This bike is incredibly heavy"
MUXI Tom's Guide, June 23, 2026 Nearly 100 miles over two months "Lack of suspension makes bumps a little rough"
MUXI Pro Rider Guide, September 22, 2026 22.7 miles in its fastest mode with more than 200 lb aboard "the rear end will launch you off the seat"
Xyber Air ALL Electric, October 27, 2026 12 to 14 mph on its steepest climbs at about 200 lb "it's not great for pedaling"
Xyber OutdoorGearLab, October 28, 2025: 97 of 100 81.5 miles on two batteries and 44.3 on one, on throttle with a 180 lb rider On steep soft trails "the tires simply spun out"
Xaber 300 Electrek, July 17, 2026 Hard riding will "realistically cut that to around 30-40 miles" "long-term reliability is an open question no first review can answer"

Each outlet used its own loop, rider and settings, so read each figure with its conditions. Rated range is a gentle-riding number: Electric Bike Review's 82.1 miles came at minimum assist, and its full-power ride covered about half that.

Weight is the fault reviewers keep returning to. Tom's Guide calls it "the biggest knock against the Myon" (its Myon review), and T3 writes of the Xafari's "incredibly heavy, overengineered frame" (its Xafari review).

What owners report

We read all 205 posts a November 3, 2026, Reddit search returned for a current model, counting crossposts once. Fifty-four are first-hand reports from people who bought one, dated from February 2025 to November 2026. They include 1,800 miles on a Xyber and 1,500 on a Xafari. The rest are shoppers, questions, news and links.

What owners raise Reports, of 54 In an owner's words
Happy with the bike overall 36 "it has exceeded my expectations" (MUXI)
The app, Bluetooth or firmware 11 "AirLock doesn't always connect." (Myon)
Segway support or the dealer path 7 "I have contacted Segway support approximately five times" (MUXI and Xafari)
Seat or suspension comfort 6 "The seat is too hard for me" (Myon)
Weight 6 "Getting it into my buddy's truck took two of us." (MUXI Pro)
Battery or temperature messages 4 "It's Boston in July!" of a "Low temp; warm up" warning (Xafari)

Tires, hard-to-find parts and assembly each came up twice. These posts come from people who chose to write, so they show what to watch for and give no failure rate.

The sharpest reports sit on the path around the bike. One Xafari order went to a dealer that had moved: "They mailed it to a shop that had temporarily closed", and 18 days later, when they posted, that buyer had no bike and no refund (r/ebikes). Segway's FAQ says "we are unable to change the pick-up address once the order is placed" (the Xafari FAQ).

A Myon owner was told a repair would be covered, then paid a shop $70 for it (r/ebikes). The owner of a MUXI and a Xafari spent three weeks on a fault, reset it "in LITERALLY 30 seconds" once Segway gave access, and still wrote "My dealer has been excellent" (r/ebikes).

The praise is as specific. A Myon owner in New England reports climbs "Greater than 20%" (r/ebikes), and another tracked down a stolen Myon by GPS, dumped nearby because "the rear wheels won't turn" once locked (r/ebikes).

What the reports mean for you Ride one at the dealer you will use, and ask that dealer who pays for a warranty visit before you order. On the bikes with class settings, plan on about half the rated range at full power, and on an app that can need patience.

Why buy one of these from us

Shipping is free on all six within the contiguous United States, and Redtail eBikes stays your contact from checkout to any warranty claim. Write to support@redtailebikes.com and we typically reply within one business day (our contact page). Your order leaves us within 1–3 business days of confirmation, and most e-bikes arrive within 5–10 business days after dispatch (our shipping policy). Checkout takes Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay alongside the major cards.

The trade is the test ride. A Segway dealer can put you on the bike first, and we ship to your door with no dealer step, so you choose from the maker's figures on each card.

If the carrier damages your bike, note it on the paperwork and send us photos within 48 hours of delivery, and the freight claim is ours to file (our terms). If a part fails or the bike will not power on, the maker's warranty covers it and we arrange the repair or replacement with the maker (our refund policy).

How we matched each bike

Each Segway model was set against every e-bike we sell on motor and speed first: figures at or under the Segway's own where the Segway is a street e-bike, and an off-road machine for the off-road Xaber 300. Frame and price came second. The Xyber's card is the TIGER RL, for a rider drawn to that long-seat shape.

Each pick's figures were read on its maker's page on November 6, 2026, and its price again on November 7. Before a bike stayed on the list, we read what owners and reviewers say about it. A maker that leaves a speed setting open gets its own figures on the card and no speed class.

Speed, class and the law: where each Segway stands

At the 20 mph settings Segway prints, the 500 W Myon sits inside the e-bike definition in 48 or 49 of the 51 US jurisdictions and the 750 W models in 29 or 30, and the Xyber and Xaber 300 in none. Two states, Alaska and Kentucky, have no e-bike definition for any model to sit inside.

Segway's own FAQ puts it this way: "No license is needed. Segway eBikes are pedal-assist and meet most local regulations for Class 1 or 2 eBike use. Always check your area's rules." (Segway's Xafari page). The table below reads each published figure against each state's own definition, so you can check yours.

The three classes, in the federal text

Most state codes use the same three classes the Bureau of Land Management sets out (43 CFR 8340.0-5(j)). A Class 1 motor "provides assistance only when the rider is pedaling" and stops at 20 mph. A Class 2 motor "may be used exclusively to propel the bicycle", also to 20 mph. A Class 3 motor returns to pedal-only help and "ceases to provide assistance when the bicycle reaches the speed of 28 miles per hour".

Segway's class settings use those numbers, with its own Hybrid setting beside them. Its Xyber Air manual calls the Class 3 setting pedal-only (the Xyber Air manual), and its Hybrid line pairs a throttle to 20 mph with pedal assist to 28 mph, or 23 mph on the MUXI (Segway's MUXI page).

Where each Segway stands

To let you find your state, each model ran through every jurisdiction's definition in our state-by-state law pages, at each setting Segway prints. A setting is one row of evidence: it answers one part of a definition, and your state decides how it classifies the bike.

Segway model and setting Inside the e-bike definition Outside it Where it sits outside From December 1, 2026: outside
Myon, Class 1 setting (500 W, 20 mph) 49 0 none 0
Myon, Class 2 setting (500 W, 20 mph, throttle) 48 1 NJ 1
Myon, Class 3 setting (500 W, 28 mph) 41 8 DC, MA, MT, NC, NJ, NY, PA, SC 7
MUXI, MUXI Pro, Xyber Air, Class 1 setting (750 W, 20 mph) 30 19 the 19 below 19
Xafari, MUXI, MUXI Pro, Xyber Air, Class 2 setting (750 W, 20 mph, throttle) 29 20 the 19 below and NJ 20
Xafari, MUXI Pro, Xyber Air at 28 mph, MUXI at 23 mph, Class 3 setting (750 W) 23 26 the 19, and DC, MA, MT, NC, NJ, PA, SC 25
Myon, MUXI, MUXI Pro, Xyber Air, Hybrid setting (throttle with assist past 20 mph) 0 49 every jurisdiction with a definition 49
Xyber (35 and 43 mph); Xaber 300 (60 mph, 8 kW) 0 49 every jurisdiction with a definition 49

Three tests decide those counts. A speed above 20 mph sits outside the definition where the code stops there, as in Massachusetts, which writes no Class 3. New Jersey's 2025 act defines a "Low-speed electric bicycle" around a motor that "provides assistance only when the rider is pedaling" (P.L.2025, c.285), so any Segway with its throttle in use sits outside it there.

The third test is the motor, which the table below sets out state by state.

We read Hybrid outside every definition because no class admits a throttle on a bike that assists past 20 mph. That is a reading of Segway's own description, and your state could read the setting differently, so ask before you ride in it.

Nebraska's Class III definition writes two tests, "Not exceeding seven hundred fifty watts of power" and "That produces no more than one brake horsepower" (Neb. Rev. Stat. § 60-614.04), and one brake horsepower is about 746 watts. We count Nebraska inside on its watts test; on the horsepower test alone, the 750 W Class 3 row reads 22.

The 20 places a 750 W Segway sits outside

Nineteen state codes put the line below 750 watts, and a motor rated at 750 W, as on the Xafari, MUXI, MUXI Pro and Xyber Air, is not "less than" 750. New Jersey's act draws its line at the throttle instead, which also puts the Myon's Class 2 setting outside there.

The Xyber and Xaber 300: past every class

The Xyber and Xaber 300 sit outside the e-bike definition in all 49 jurisdictions that write one, on the top speeds Segway prints for them.

The Xyber's 35 and 43 mph are past every class, and so are the Xaber 300's 60 mph and 8 kW motor. Segway's FAQ says the Xyber is delivered at 20 mph, and it still calls the machine off-road only. Ride either one on private land with the owner's permission, or on areas and trails designated for off-road vehicles.

On land the Bureau of Land Management runs, a machine outside the e-bike definition is an "off-road vehicle". It may run only "on those areas and trails designated as open to off-road vehicle use", and the same section says "No person may operate an off-road vehicle on public lands without a valid State operator's license or learner's permit where required by State or Federal law" (43 CFR 8341.1).

Class settings and what the law leaves open

Segway prints class settings for five models, and of the Xyber Air it says "Only one class is active at a time" (Segway's Xyber Air class post). Whether a setting the rider can switch on is the bike's top speed for the law is a question the statutes do not settle in plain words, so we print it both ways.

California's definition excludes a bike "intended by the manufacturer to be modifiable to attain a speed greater than 20 miles per hour on motor power alone or to attain more than 750 watts of power" (Cal. Veh. Code § 312.5). Read one way, the law looks at the setting you ride in; read the other, at the top setting the maker offers.

The bike may also set the class for you. OutdoorGearLab found the Xafari and Myon use GPS to follow local rules, and that a Myon picked up in California "wouldn't switch out of Class 2" in Nevada through resets, tech support and a dealer visit (its Myon review). If you ride across a state line, ask your dealer how the setting behaves.

New York needs its own check. Segway says "Class 3 at 28 mph isn't an option in New York" (Segway's Xyber Air class post), and Tom's Guide reports Segway "won't ship the Myon (as well as a few other models)" to New York residents (its Myon review). If you live there, confirm the model with Segway before you plan on it.

Your plain course is to ride in the setting your state's definition admits, and to plan on the bike as it ships. If a lower setting decides whether you can ride it where you live, get Segway's answer in writing first.

California, now and from January 1, 2027

Segway says the Xyber Air in California "is set as a Class 2 eBike by default and can be switched to Class 3 in the app", and that "Hybrid Mode is not available" there (Segway's Xyber Air class post).

California's Senate Bill 1167, in force from January 1, 2027, rewrites § 312.5 to say "A vehicle capable of attaining a speed greater than 20 miles per hour on motor power alone" is not an electric bicycle (SB 1167, chaptered text).

The bill adds that such vehicles "shall not be advertised, sold, offered for sale, or labeled as electric bicycles". How it reaches a rider-selected setting is a question for California's courts and agencies, and our California law page follows it.

What is at stake

Outside your state's definition, a Segway is governed as whatever vehicle that state's code makes it, with that vehicle's penalties. New Jersey's act requires "The valid driver's license, the insurance identification card, and the registration certificate" for a motorized bicycle or low-speed electric bicycle "with motor engaged on the highways of this State", with "a fine not exceeding $50" (P.L.2025, c.285).

Segway's own post says the same of that state: "Class 2 and Class 3 eBikes require a license, registration and insurance."

On Bureau of Land Management land, breaking the off-road vehicle rules carries "a fine of not more than $1,000 or imprisonment for not longer than 12 months, or both" (43 CFR 8340.0-7); our public-land law page sets out where e-bikes may go.

From December 1, 2026, North Carolina's S.L. 2026-46 brings in the three classes, and from that day the Class 3 rows sit outside one fewer jurisdiction: 7 for the Myon and 25 for the 750 W models. Our North Carolina law page has the dates, and our pages for Florida, New York and Texas, three of the 19, set out those states' lines.

What the screen means for you Pick the setting first, then read your state. At its rated 500 W, the Myon clears the watt line in every state that writes one. A 750 W Segway depends on how your state writes its cap. Keep the Xyber and Xaber 300 on private land or ground designated for off-road vehicles, and register and license them where your state requires it.

Each state page sets out its e-bike rules and links the statute they come from.

Check your state's e-bike rules

Age and the young rider

Segway's manuals set the age by model: 16 and up on the MUXI, MUXI Pro and Xyber Air, 18 to 60 on the Xafari, Myon and Xyber, and 18 or older on the Xaber 300. Those are Segway's recommendations, and your state sets its own minimums where it sets one.

What Segway says about age

The MUXI manual prints "16+ years old" (the MUXI manual), the Myon manual "18—60 years old" (the Myon manual) and the Xaber 300 manual "18 years of age or older" (the Xaber 300 manual). The warranties add, of a child using the product, "PARENTAL OR LEGAL GUARDIAN SUPERVISION IS REQUIRED AT ALL TIMES" (the MUXI Pro warranty).

What the law sets

California's line is 16 for a Class 3: "A person under 16 years of age shall not operate a class 3 electric bicycle" (Cal. Veh. Code § 21213). New Jersey's floor is 15: "No person who is under 15 years of age shall be permitted to operate a low-speed electric bicycle or motorized bicycle" (P.L.2025, c.285).

Each state draws its own line, and our state law pages give each one. Buying for a teenager? Our kids and teens guide sets out the smaller bikes we sell, and the final call on a young rider stays with the parent.

Segway's warranty, returns and delivery, clause by clause

On the six e-bikes, two years on the bike, two years or 500 charge cycles on the battery and 30 days on wear parts, with returns limited to new and unused e-bikes for 14 days and delivery only to the continental 48 states. Each clause below comes from Segway's own documents, read November 3 and November 6, 2026.

The warranty

"The product has a 2-year warranty" on all six e-bikes, and the battery term is "two (2) years warranty from the date of initial retail purchase, or five hundred (500) charging cycles, whichever occurs first", with a design aim of "over 70% of its original capacity" in that time (the MUXI Pro warranty). Wear items run 30 days.

Your cost is the shipping: "you shall be responsible for the cost of shipping / delivering of defective Product". Your bike must come from an authorized Segway dealer, and the warranty "is VOID, if the Product is used in the following activities: commercial purpose or rental". If you plan to deliver food on one, read that line twice.

On the Myon, MUXI, MUXI Pro and Xyber Air you can pass the rest of the warranty to a buyer, who must show the first receipt; the other three print a similar clause. You may opt out of arbitration by notice within 30 calendar days of purchase, by email or certified mail, as section 6.7 sets out.

The Xaber 300's document prints two terms. Its table gives the frame, motor assembly and controller 2 years and the battery "2 years or 500 charging cycles", and the notes under it say "The product has a 1-year warranty" and "one (1) years warranty" on the battery (the Xaber 300 warranty). If you are buying one, have Segway confirm the term in writing.

Returns and cancellations

You can cancel an e-bike order yourself "within 6.5 hours". Once the order is being prepared, a cancellation carries "a 25% restocking fee and any applicable flat handling fee".

After you take the bike, returns close 14 days from pickup or delivery, they are "only accepted for new and unused Ebikes", and "Used Ebikes are not eligible for return or refund". On home delivery, the "$99 outbound delivery fee is non-refundable" (Segway's e-bike return policy). Ask your dealer for a test ride before you order.

Delivery and assembly

"We currently only ship within the Continental 48 States" (Segway's shipping policy). You choose a dealer at checkout, and "After shipping, the dealer must first assemble your eBike", then you pick it up or arrange delivery (Segway's Xyber page). Confirm that dealer is open before you pay, because Segway says "we are unable to change the pick-up address once the order is placed" (the Xafari FAQ).

Home delivery is an option at checkout: the shipping policy prints an "Optional $99 Home Delivery Service", while the MUXI Pro's FAQ says "Home Delivery for the Segway MUXI Pro ships free" with final assembly "completed by the rider" (Segway's MUXI Pro page). Read the fee in your cart before you place the order.

Segway also lists "Affirm is available at checkout for those who qualify", and its locator finds a dealer for a test ride (the Xafari FAQ).

Owning one: manuals, dealers and repairs

Every listing links its manual, and each one is worth reading before your first ride, because the setup and class settings live there.

Repairs "can be completed at Segway authorized dealerships", and the dealer locator on Segway's site finds yours by zip code (Segway's Xafari page). You may do your own maintenance without voiding the warranty, as long as the work is right, and a second Xyber battery goes in at a dealer: "requires a certified Segway dealer".

A vehicle rack needs to take the weight: Segway's FAQ asks for a tray rated for 100 lb for the Xafari and 160 lb for the Xyber. If you live far from a dealer, check the locator before you buy, since it is your route for both warranty and repair.

Before you buy a Segway: the checklist

Before you order a Segway, settle where you will ride, the setting you will ride in, the rider's age and height, your nearest dealer and the fees on the day.

  • Decide where you will ride. The Xyber and Xaber 300 are off-road machines; the other five depend on your state, so read the screen.
  • Choose the setting first. Read your state's line at that setting, and see what the law leaves open.
  • Check the motor line. A 750 W Segway sits outside the 19 states in the table of wording.
  • Check the rider's age and height. Sixteen and up, or 18 and up, by model; see age and sizing.
  • Find your dealer. Assembly, warranty work and repairs run through one; see delivery and assembly.
  • Need a certificate? Four models link a UL 2849 file; see the certificate table.
  • Budget for the first-year end. Tracking needs a subscription after year one; see smart features.
  • Read the return terms. A used e-bike cannot come back; see returns.
  • Weigh the alternatives. Six bikes we sell stand beside the Segway models in the picks.

The honest ledger

Each row sets one thing Segway does well beside the rider it does not suit, and where that rider should look instead.

What stands up Who it is wrong for, and where to go instead
A two-year warranty on all six e-bikes, with labor covered through authorized dealers A rider far from a dealer who wants a bike at the door and one support inbox: the six bikes we sell ship free to your door
UL 2849 certificates you can open on four models A buyer whose building needs the file for a MUXI Pro or Xyber Air: read the certificate table, or choose the VTUVIA CMB 8-Speed, whose page prints UL 2271 and UL 2849
An app with AirLock and location tracking, free for the first year A rider who wants no subscription and no phone in the loop: the Addmotor GRAOOPRO is the plain hauler
A 500 W Myon that sits inside the e-bike definition in 48 jurisdictions at its Class 2 setting A rider who wants 750 W and the moto look in a state that caps below it: the table of wording shows which states those are
Outside test scores of 84 to 97 of 100 on three models A rider who needs to lift the bike: the VTUVIA CMB 8-Speed weighs 60 lb where the Myon weighs 72.75
Rated ranges of 58 to 88 miles on the five with class settings A rider planning on the rated figure with a heavy load: range sets out the conditions, and the Eunorau G30 Cargo offers a second battery
Two off-road machines with suspension and power for the trail A rider who needs a street machine: neither sits inside any state's e-bike definition, so start with your state's law page

Frequently asked questions

Who makes Segway e-bikes?

Segway's warranties name three makers: Ninebot (Changzhou) Tech for the Myon, MUXI, MUXI Pro and Xyber Air, Ninebot New Energy Technology (Beijing) for the Xafari and Xyber, and Nine Tech for the Xaber 300. Segway Inc. distributes them and answers for the US warranty (the MUXI Pro warranty).

Where are Segway e-bikes made?

Segway's pages, FAQs, manuals and warranties name no country of manufacture for the six e-bikes. They name the makers, and the UL certificates give Ninebot (Changzhou) Tech Co., Ltd. a Changzhou, China address. The Xaber 300 manual prints its maker's Changzhou, China address (the Xaber 300 manual).

Is Segway a Chinese company?

By ownership, yes. Segway Inc. is a Delaware corporation (the USPTO's SEGWAY record), and its parent, Ninebot Limited, gives its office address in Beijing, trades in Shanghai and reports Segway Inc. as a 100 percent subsidiary (Ninebot Limited's 2025 half-year report). Its registered address is in the Cayman Islands, and who owns Segway sets out each record.

Is Segway an American company?

By incorporation, yes; by ownership, no. Segway began in Bedford, New Hampshire (Segway's about page), and Segway Inc. remains a Delaware corporation (the USPTO's SEGWAY record) with a Plano store address (Segway's terms of service). Its parent since 2015 is Ninebot.

Is Segway still in business?

Yes. It retired the original Segway PT on July 15, 2020 (the Associated Press) and sells e-bikes and scooters today. Segway Inc. runs store.segway.com, which listed 13 e-bike and dirt-bike listings in stock on November 6, 2026, and its blog was updated that week (Segway's Xyber Air class post).

Are Segway e-bikes good?

On the record we read, yes, for the right rider. OutdoorGearLab scored the Myon 84, the Xafari 92 and the Xyber 97 of 100, and 36 of the 54 owner reports we read are plainly happy with the bike. The complaints that repeat are about software and support, and reviewers fault the weight. The Myon suits a commuter and the MUXI family suits errands and kids, as what reviewers and owners report sets out.

Are Segway e-bikes reliable?

The long run is still unproven. Of 54 owner reports we read, 29 raise a complaint and 14 of those concern software or support, and the highest mileage an owner states is 1,800 on a Xyber (what owners report). No federal record we read names a Segway e-bike, and the warranty runs two years with the battery at two years or 500 cycles (the MUXI Pro warranty).

What is the difference between the Myon and the Xafari?

The Myon is the lighter commuter: 500 W, 72.75 lb, 27.5-inch tires and electronic shifting. The Xafari is the heavier comfort bike: 750 W, 92.5 lb, 26 x 3.0-inch tires and suspension at both ends. The Xafari cost $300 less on November 6, 2026, and the Myon sits inside more state definitions (the pairs buyers ask about).

The Myon, MUXI, MUXI Pro, Xafari and Xyber Air read as e-bikes in many states at their lower settings, and the count depends on the motor and your state (where each Segway stands). Segway's FAQ says "No license is needed", and your state's definition is the line to read.

Segway's FAQ says "Xyber is designed for off-road use only", and its manual prints "Off road only" (Segway's Xyber page). On the speeds Segway prints it sits outside the e-bike definition in all 49 jurisdictions that write one. The Xyber Air is the model Segway pitches for the street.

Is the Segway Xyber a Class 2 e-bike?

Segway delivers it at 20 mph, OutdoorGearLab wrote that it "ships as a compliant Class 2 e-bike" (its Xyber review), and an owner posted a Class 2 sticker from the frame. Segway's own answer is still "Xyber is designed for off-road use only", and its manual prints "Off road only", so plan on that (the Xyber section).

The Xaber 300, which replaced the X260 at its address, reads "This product must not be ridden on public roads" in its manual, and Segway's blog says it "is not street legal" (Segway's Xaber 300 reviews post). The word "eBike" in the older model names does not put them inside a state's e-bike definition.

Is the Segway Xaber 300 built by Surron?

Its manual names Nine Tech Co., Ltd., of Changzhou, as the manufacturer (the Xaber 300 manual). The Sur-Ron tie belongs to the older X160 and X260: in 2019, Electrek reported that "Segway is actually the majority owner of Sur Ron" (Electrek).

How fast does a Segway e-bike go?

Twenty mph at the Class 1 and Class 2 settings, and 28 mph at Class 3 on the Xafari, Myon, MUXI Pro and Xyber Air, with the MUXI stopping at 23 mph. The Xyber prints 35 mph in its manual and 43 mph on its page with both batteries. Which top speed to plan on sets out each figure.

What is the fastest Segway e-bike?

The fastest machine on Segway's store is the Xaber 300, at 60 mph in Beast mode (Segway's Xaber 300 page), and the Xyber follows at 43 mph with both batteries (Segway's Xyber page). Both are off-road machines. Among the five with class settings the top setting is 28 mph, as the lineup shows.

How much is a Segway Dirt eBike X260?

Segway's store listed the X260 at $4,999.00 on May 11, 2020 (archived), and at "As low as $6,499.99", out of stock, on December 3, 2024 (archived). Its address now opens the Xaber 300, at $5,299.99 on November 6, 2026.

How long does a Segway battery last?

Segway warrants its e-bike batteries for two years or 500 charging cycles, whichever comes first, and says the design "can maintain over 70% of its original capacity" in that time (the MUXI Pro warranty). The Xaber 300's document prints both a two-year and a one-year term.

Where can you buy a Segway e-bike?

On store.segway.com, where you choose a dealer at checkout, and through Segway's authorized dealers, which its dealer locator lists by zip code (Segway's Xafari page). Segway's warranty requires a purchase from an authorized dealer, and our store directory lists the brands shops carry, city by city.

The bottom line

Segway's bikes test well, and its weak spot is the path around them: software, support and the dealer step. For street riding, the Myon and the MUXI family are where to start, and the Xyber and Xaber 300 belong on the ground Segway names for them: off-road, on land where that riding is allowed. Ride one at your dealer first.

Limitations

These are the limits of what we could read or settle, and each one tells you how far to rely on the figures above it.

  1. Top speeds. The Xafari, Myon, MUXI and MUXI Pro manuals print the Class 2 figure where the pages print a Class 3 figure, and the Xyber's manual prints 35 mph where its page prints 43. Both are printed above, and the screen runs each setting.
  2. Load wording. The Xafari, MUXI and MUXI Pro print a rider limit in one place and a payload or vehicle figure in another, unpaired, so the sizing table shows both.
  3. The Xaber 300's figures. Its page prints "210000" for maximum power where its manual and FAQ print 21 kW, and its FAQ prints 3.17 kWh where its manual prints 3,110.4 Wh. We plan on the manual.
  4. The Xaber 300's warranty. Its document prints both a 2-year and a 1-year term for the same parts.
  5. Motor rating. The screen reads the rated or nominal figure Segway prints. The Myon's 1,500 W peak, the Xyber's 3,000 W maximum and the Xaber 300's 21 kW are printed beside it, and a state or court could read a motor differently.
  6. Ownership. The newest subsidiary table we could open is Ninebot's report for the six months to June 30, 2025, which is unaudited. Ninebot's later reports are listed by the Shanghai Stock Exchange, whose file host did not serve the PDFs to our reader, so the copy we read sits on a financial-data site.
  7. Certificate registers. UL Solutions' own directory needs an account and was not searched, so the certificates above are the files Segway links. For "NINEBOT", TÜV Rheinland's register printed 234 results on some of its pages and 238 on others and listed 237 rows, and those 237 are what we read.
  8. Reviews and owner reports. Each reviewer's figure comes from that outlet's own test and conditions. The 54 owner reports come from one Reddit search of November 3, 2026, sorted by hand. They are self-selected and give no failure rate, one of the 205 posts declares a paid partnership, and we cannot tell every owner from a promoter. The highest mileage any of the 54 states is 1,800, so long-run reliability stays unmeasured.
  9. Reviews we could not open. GearJunkie and Forbes on the Xyber Air and BikeRumor on the MUXI Pro refused our reader, and the Internet Archive's index showed no capture of them on November 6, 2026, so this page quotes none of the three.
  10. Prices and stock move with Segway's sales. Segway's prices here are dated, and a claim expires on the next change to the pages it cites.

What would change these answers

A new Segway model, a changed product page or manual, a new certificate, a federal safety record naming a Segway e-bike, or a change to your state's e-bike law would change what you read here. On the day you buy, read the model's own page and your state's law page.

Source register

Each source behind this page, its tier, what it supports and when it was read. T1 is the government's own record or a certifier's: the federal registers and regulations, the trademark office, UL's certificates and the state statutes.

T2 is a company's own pages and records: Segway's store, its policies, warranties and manuals, Ninebot Limited's reports, the makers of the six alternatives, and our own policies and dataset. T4 is reporting: reviewers' tests, press and owners' posts, each quoted as theirs. No price or rule here rests on a T4 source, any figure from one is named as that outlet's, and nothing rests on a T3 or T5 source.

A government is the only publisher of its own statute or record, and a company of its own terms and figures, so those rows are marked sole publisher in our ledger and no second copy is sought; where a publisher's own site could not be reached on the day, the Internet Archive's capture of the same address was read and is linked in the ledger.
