Samebike CY20 Pro Folding Commuter Electric Bike, Solid Wheel

The commuter of the family: cast wheels, a front basket mount, and a fold that ends arguments about apartment storage.
The Samebike CY20 Pro is the entry point to the range and the one bike here whose numbers sit inside familiar commuter territory: a 500W hub (800W peak) at 32 km/h (20 mph), a 36V 13Ah battery, mechanical discs, dual suspension and a fold that fits a trunk — with cast solid-style wheels for the low-maintenance look. Black, White or Navy at $599, matched to Samebike's price, free lower-48 shipping.

Who the CY20 Pro (Solid Wheel) is for
Buy it if
- First-timers and commuters who want the familiar numbers — 500W and 20 mph is the power class most US riders, bike lanes and buildings already understand
- Apartment dwellers: it folds to 34.6 × 19.3 × 33.5 in and weighs 31 kg (68 lb), the lightest bike Samebike currently sells
- Errand riding — the step-through-style frame, front basket mounting and extended rear seat pad are grocery-run architecture
- Buyers at $599 who still want suspension at both ends and 5 assist levels — the spec sheet undercuts its price
Look elsewhere if
- Your route has real hills and you carry weight — 800W peak and 36V is the mildest powertrain in the range; the spoked-wheel CY20 Pro's 48V system is the same price and stronger
- You want maximum range: the 36V 13Ah pack computes to 468Wh, the smallest battery Samebike sells
- You ride rough surfaces fast — 20×3.0 tires and mechanical discs are commuter spec, not trail spec
- You need a UL-listed battery; Samebike publishes no certification for it

Cast wheels, zero spoke maintenance
The solid-style cast wheels are this variant's signature: no spokes to true, tension or replace, and a distinctive look. The trade is a firmer ride than spoked wheels transmit — which the CY20 Pro answers with suspension at both ends.

Sized for a trunk, published to the inch
Folded, the CY20 Pro measures 34.6 × 19.3 × 33.5 in (880 × 490 × 850 mm) by Samebike's own figures — small enough for sedan trunks and hallway corners. At 68 lb it's the lightest bike in the current range, which is what makes the fold usable rather than theoretical.

500 watts, sensibly
The 500W hub peaks at 800W and tops out at 32 km/h (20 mph) — modest beside its fat-tire siblings and exactly right for bike lanes, campus paths and stop-sign-dense commutes. Five assist levels, a thumb throttle and a Shimano 7-speed cover the daily spread.

Built around errands
Front basket mounting, an extended padded rear seat, reflective-striped 20×3.0 tires and front/rear LED lighting: the spec list reads like a shopping trip. The 36V 13Ah battery tucks into the seat tower and recharges in 4–6 hours.
The honest ledger
Green flags
- The honest price-performer: $599 with dual suspension, five assist levels, a Shimano 7-speed and published fold dimensions — nothing at this price in the range to compare it to
- 20 mph / 800W-peak numbers that fit inside most US bike-lane expectations — the one Samebike you likely won't need a rules conversation about, though your state's fine print is still yours to check
- IP64-rated electronics (motor, battery, display) published — rare candor at $599
- Reflective-striped tires plus front and rear LED lighting as standard — visible from every angle at night
Red flags
- Samebike's marketing calls the battery '540Wh'; the spec table says 36V 13Ah, which computes to 468Wh. We print 468Wh and flag their arithmetic
- Torque appears as both '55+ N·m' (stat strip) and '50+ N·m' (feature panel) — we print the lower figure
- The 90 km (56 mi) range headline is a lowest-assist figure; Samebike's own throttle-only claim is 45 km (28 mi)
- No UL 2849 / UL 2271 certification published — the standard Samebike caveat applies at every price

How to read this spec sheet
Manufacturer spec pages contain marketing, and marketing sometimes disagrees with the spec table an inch below it. Rather than quietly pick numbers, here is every place Samebike's own page disagrees with itself for this model, and which figure we print:
- Battery energy: 36V × 13Ah = 468Wh. Samebike's marketing panel says '540Wh seat-integrated battery' — arithmetic that doesn't follow from its own published spec. We print the computed figure.
- Torque: the stat strip banner says '55+Nm', the thumb-throttle panel says '50+Nm of power'. We print 50+ N·m, the conservative reading.
- A marketing line mentions a torque sensor in copy shared across Samebike's commuter pages; the spec table lists only '5 levels' of pedal assist. Treat torque-sensing as unconfirmed for this model.
- This is the SOLID-WHEEL CY20 Pro (36V). Samebike sells a spoked-wheel CY20 Pro at the same $599 with a 48V 13Ah (624Wh) battery — a materially different electrical spec behind a near-identical name; our comparison table separates them.
What we counted
We pulled Samebike US's entire live catalog on 2026-08-23 and counted what was actually buyable: 29 of 32 bike variants across 10 models. The three unbuyable variants are all one model's colorways (M20: Black, LightSteelBlue, DarkGreen); every other bike was buyable in every published colorway on the pull date. This listing mirrors that feed — we only sell configurations Samebike can actually supply, and we re-sync price and availability against their store rather than guessing.
Redtail original analysis, counted from Samebike US's public storefront feed on 2026-08-23 (one shipping-surcharge SKU excluded). Availability moves; email support@redtailebikes.com for a combination not shown here.

Frequently asked questions
Solid wheel or spoked wheel — what's actually different?
More than the wheels. The spoked version carries a 48V 13Ah battery (624Wh) against this bike's 36V 13Ah (468Wh) — a third more energy and a stronger electrical system for the same $599 — while this solid-wheel version offers the no-maintenance cast wheels and a Navy colorway the spoked one lacks. Same fold, same motor rating, same 20 mph. Range-first buyers should take the spoked; look-and-simplicity buyers land here.
Is 500W enough?
For flat-to-rolling commutes, errands and campus riding — the CY20 Pro's actual brief — yes, and the 800W peak covers pull-aways and short rises. What it is not is a hill-country or heavy-cargo machine; if your daily ride includes sustained grades, the RS-A02 Pro's 1,500W peak for $400 more is the honest recommendation.
What's the real range?
Samebike claims 45 km (28 mi) on throttle alone and up to 90 km (56 mi) at the lowest assist level. A commuter mixing assist and throttle should plan on the twenties of miles between charges — comfortably a week of 5-mile round trips. The pack charges in 4–6 hours; note our spec table's Wh correction, since range scales with real energy, not marketing energy.
Can I actually carry it folded?
It's the lightest current Samebike at 68 lb, and the fold (34.6 × 19.3 × 33.5 in) genuinely fits sedan trunks. Carrying is a different verb: 68 lb is a two-hand lift for most adults, fine for a trunk sill or two porch steps, unreasonable for a walk-up. Roll it wherever rolling is an option.
Is it legal in bike lanes?
Its numbers — 500W rated, 20 mph top speed, pedal assist plus throttle — line up with the Class 2 definitions most states use, and that makes the CY20 Pro the least complicated bike in Samebike's range on this question. Samebike itself doesn't print a class label, so we won't either; your state's exact rules are on our law guides at the Redtail journal.
What about the warranty at this price?
Identical terms to the $1,499 flagships: Samebike's published 3-year frame and 1-year battery (prorated), motor and component coverage. Redtail handles every claim — support@redtailebikes.com, order number, photos — and our advice is the same as on any bike: open and inspect the box within 48 hours of delivery, because damage windows are short.
