A hunting e-bike under $2,000 is a fat-tire electric bike that carries you and your gear, fits the land you hunt, and leaves money for the trailer.
Quick answer. On public land with a class rule, buy the Qiolor TIGER RE at $1,399: 400 lb rated, with 87 to 102 computed miles at 10 mph on flat dirt for a 200 lb rider. Under $1,000, the TIGER JR at $899 fits 48 state definitions. On private ground, the Raptor ST202 Pro computes a deer tow up 21.6%.
Three price bands, three picks in each, one answer per kind of hunter:
- Under $1,000: the Smartravel Explorer DK400, $699.99, the lowest price here, at 68.3 lb, for private land; the Qiolor TIGER JR, $899, the one to buy for public land with a class rule; the Samebike M20, $999, the strongest motor of the three under $1,000, at 1,200 W, for riders 5'6" and taller on private ground.
- $1,000 to $1,500: the VTUVIA SF20H, $1,299, which folds into a truck bed; the Freesky Ranger Air M-540, $1,299, two motors and a 400 lb rating for hauling on private land; the Qiolor TIGER RE, $1,399, the longest range of the class-shaped picks.
- $1,500 to $2,000: the Qiolor NOVA, $1,599, rated for 450 lb with a two-rider seat; the Smartravel Raptor ST202 Pro, $1,699.99, two motors and 2,600 Wh for steep private ground; the Eunorau FAT-HD 1.0 Pro, $1,999, a 1,000 W mid-drive for riders 5'7" to 6'4".
Two of the nine picks from opposite ends of the range: the Samebike M20 at $999, the strongest motor of our three under $1,000, and the Eunorau FAT-HD 1.0 Pro at $1,999, the geared climber. Each bike is its maker's own photograph; the prairie around them was generated, and no real place is shown.

Last verified October 5, 2026. Motor, torque, battery, rated load, weight, tires, brakes, rider height and top speed for each pick were read off the maker's own US page that day. Every price, stock level and cart button was read off our store and checked against the maker's price and stock for that colorway the same day.

How we verified this guide
Every recommendation here is computed from published figures, and each data file is published with the page.
- The bikes. Each maker's own US product page, read on October 5, 2026, with every quoted figure checked word for word in a saved copy (the nine-pick model; brakes, suspension and the makers' own range claims).
- The shelf. Every in-stock fat-tire or two-motor e-bike we sell at or under $2,000, counted by price band (the price ladder).
- The physics. Hill speed, towing limit and range for a 200 lb rider with 30 lb of gear, computed with the standard road-load equation from each maker's figures.
- The law. Each pick's rated watts, top speed and throttle screened against all 51 state e-bike definitions, 50 states and DC (the legal matrix).
- The specialists. The full e-bike lineups of five hunting-marketed brands, read at their own stores the same day (the specialist price census).
We cite 35 sources: ten statutes and regulations, the Pennsylvania Game Commission's deer chart, ten maker product pages and Smartravel's DK400 manual, five hunting-brand stores, our seven data files and the Playcut credit. All 35 were read back in full on October 5, 2026, and none was unreachable.
New Jersey's legislature site does not answer our network, so its act was read through a reader copy of the same page. Every assumption in the arithmetic is numbered under Limitations.

What should you expect from a hunting e-bike under $2,000?
A legal class, a bigger battery or a specialty, in that order as the price climbs. On October 5, 2026 we stocked 42 in-stock fat-tire or two-motor e-bikes at or under $2,000 from 9 brands, out of 55 such models on our shelf at any price (the price ladder).
| Price band | Models we stock | Brands | Our three picks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under $1,000 | 8 | 4 | DK400 · TIGER JR · M20 |
| $1,000 to $1,500 | 14 | 6 | SF20H · Ranger Air · TIGER RE |
| $1,500 to $2,000 | 20 | 9 | NOVA · ST202 Pro · FAT-HD 1.0 Pro |
Counted on our store on October 5, 2026: two-wheel e-bikes with 4.0-inch or wider tires or a second motor, at least one version in stock, and from a brand this guide recommends. Each band starts one cent above the last.
Under $1,000, the trade is weight or law. All three picks carry 4.0-inch tires and a throttle. The cheapest weighs 68.3 lb, but its 28 mph keeps it off public land with a class rule. The one built for class rules runs on a 500 W motor (nine-pick model).
From $1,000 to $1,500, the battery grows. The TIGER RE's 1,680 Wh is nearly twice the DK400's 873.6 Wh, and our picks add a second motor here with the Ranger Air (nine-pick model).
From $1,500 to $2,000, you buy a specialty. Here you choose a 450 lb rating, a 2,600 Wh pack on two motors, or a 1,000 W mid-drive with gears for steep ground (nine-pick model).
Find your bike in one line
Start with where you hunt, because the land decides which motor you may ride before any spec does.
| Your hunt | Buy | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Public land with an e-bike class rule, $900 or less | TIGER JR | A 500 W motor and 20 mph: an e-bike in 48 of 51 definitions |
| Public land with a class rule, all-day range | TIGER RE | 1,680 Wh; an e-bike in 29 definitions |
| Public land, rider over 5'9" | SF20H | Fits 5'3" to 6'2"; folds |
| Private land, tightest budget | DK400 | $699.99, 68.3 lb |
| Private land, steep ground and a deer | Raptor ST202 Pro | Two 1,200 W motors; tows a deer up 21.6% |
| Heavy rider plus gear | NOVA | 450 lb rated: 170 lb left after a 250 lb rider and 30 lb of gear |
| Tall rider, private ground | Ranger Air | Fits 5'3" to 6'8"; 400 lb rated |
Definitions screened October 5, 2026 (legal matrix). A state's e-bike definition decides what the bike is; your wildlife agency or land manager decides where it may go. Our hunting-land table reads that rule for all 50 states.
Every pick ships free to the lower 48, and every price matches the maker's own US price for that colorway.

The hunter. You want a motor between the truck and the stand, and $1,000 is the ceiling. You will ride farm lanes, two-tracks and logging roads, and you may or may not hunt public land.
What decides it. Whether your land has an e-bike class rule. One pick in this band fits 48 state definitions; the other two sit outside every definition at their published top speeds, and those two have the stronger motors (legal matrix).

Makers' figures read October 5, 2026; climbing computed for a 200 lb rider with 30 lb of gear, capped at 20 mph (nine-pick model). Alaska and Kentucky write no e-bike definition, so no bike counts there.
Takeaway
Under $1,000, decide the land question before the motor. If you hunt public land with a class rule, the TIGER JR is the only pick in this band that fits; if you hunt private ground, the DK400 saves $199.01 and the M20 brings 1,200 W.
Budget: Smartravel Explorer DK400, $699.99
Smartravel's own photograph of the Explorer DK400 on a gravel track: 20 × 4.0 tires, front and rear suspension and a rear rack.
The cheapest pick on this page. Smartravel lists it at $1,599.99 and sold it at $699.99 when read on October 5, 2026, the price we match (Smartravel's listing).
Smartravel publishes a rear hub rated 750 W sustained and 1,000 W peak with 80 N·m, a 48V 18.2Ah pack (873.6 Wh), a 28 mph top speed, a 68.3 lb weight and a 350 lb limit for rider and cargo together.
Its detail panel lists dual suspension and mechanical disc brakes, a Shimano 7-speed, and a rear rack with fenders in the box. The page states it is "Safety Certified in Accordance with UL 2849" (Smartravel).
With a 200 lb rider and 30 lb of gear, it climbs a 10% dirt road at 8.5 to 10.5 mph on the motor alone. One charge covers 48 to 57 miles of flat dirt at 10 mph and 70°F, and 35 to 47 at 14°F (nine-pick model). Our DK400 review computes its range and its fit in full.
Who it is wrong for. Anyone riding public land under a class rule. Smartravel's owner's manual says the motor is "both throttle and pedal assist controlled," and at a published 28 mph that puts it outside all 49 state definitions that exist. For class-rule land, buy the TIGER JR at $899. A 250 lb rider with 30 lb of gear has 70 lb of the DK400's rating left; the TIGER JR leaves 120.

Mid: Qiolor TIGER JR, $899
Qiolor's own photograph of the TIGER JR in black, the colorway the button below adds.
The under-$1,000 bike for public land. Qiolor lists it at $1,399 and sells the black one at $899; we match it (Qiolor's listing).
It ships as a Class II e-bike with a 20 mph default, and Qiolor builds it to the IP5 standard, "suitable for riding through creeks, mud, and snow," while asking riders to "avoid prolonged or intentional immersion in water" (Qiolor).
Its 500 W motor and 20 mph put it inside 48 of the 51 definitions. The exception is New Jersey, whose P.L.2025, c.285 admits a motor that "provides assistance only when the rider is pedaling," so a throttle bike counts there as a motorized bicycle. Alaska and Kentucky write no definition.
On the motor alone it holds 5.5 to 6.8 mph up a 10% dirt road with a 200 lb rider and 30 lb of gear. One charge covers 38 to 45 miles of flat dirt at 10 mph and 70°F (nine-pick model).
Who it is wrong for. Riders over 5'9", the top of Qiolor's recommended height: the SF20H fits to 6'2". And anyone towing a deer up steep ground: with the trailer it stalls above 8.8%, where the SF20H keeps pulling to 13.0%.

Top of the band: Samebike M20, $999
Samebike's own photograph of the M20 in Peru, the colorway the button below adds.
The strongest motor of the three under $1,000. Samebike lists it at $1,499 and sells the Peru at $999; we match it (Samebike's listing).
Samebike's US product page gives a 1,200 W motor (1,800 W peak), 100+ N·m, a 48V 18Ah battery (864 Wh), 4-inch fat tires, hydraulic disc brakes, full suspension and a Shimano 7-speed. It runs in two modes: "Standard (mode 1) : 250W/ 25km/ h/ PAS" and "Off-road (mode 2) : 1200W/ 50km/h / PAS+ throttle," about 31 mph.
With a 200 lb rider and 30 lb of gear, it climbs a 10% dirt road at 11.7 to 14.2 mph, the fastest in its band. With a deer in tow it holds 8.6 to 10.7 mph and keeps pulling to 14.1% (nine-pick model). Our M20 review computes its range and reads its size-and-fit drawing.
Screened at its off-road mode's 1,200 W and 50 km/h, it sits outside every state definition, so plan on private land and routes open to motor vehicles (legal matrix).
Who it is wrong for. Heavier riders: Samebike's manual rates it for 330 lb, which leaves 50 lb after a 250 lb rider and 30 lb of gear. The TIGER JR is rated for 400 lb. Riders under 5'6", the bottom of Samebike's size drawing, should look at the TIGER JR, which fits from 5'1".

The hunter. You have $1,500 and a hunt that runs past one battery's worth of the cheaper bikes: a long walk-in, a cold morning, or meat to carry out.
What decides it. Battery and frame. The three picks here run from a 672 Wh folding bike to a 1,680 Wh hauler, and one of them has two motors.
Takeaway
From $1,000 to $1,500, buy the battery your longest day needs: the TIGER RE's 1,680 Wh computes 87 to 102 flat-dirt miles at 10 mph for a 200 lb rider with 30 lb of gear, against 37 to 44 on the SF20H's 672 Wh.
Budget: VTUVIA SF20H, $1,299
VTUVIA's own photograph of the SF20H in black, the colorway the button below adds.
The pick that folds, and the class-shaped bike for riders up to 6'2". VTUVIA lists it at $1,399 and sells the black one at $1,299; we match it (VTUVIA's listing).
VTUVIA publishes a 48V 750 W rear motor (1,200 W peak), 85 N·m, a 48V 14Ah battery (672 Wh), a 330 lb total capacity, 20 × 4.0 tires and a 5'3" to 6'2" rider height. Its specifications page adds dual LOGAN hydraulic disc brakes, a suspension fork and a Shimano 7-speed. The product page reads "UL2271 & UL2849 Safety Certified," and the bike ships as a Class 2 at 20 mph.
With a 200 lb rider and 30 lb of gear it climbs 10% at 8.5 to 10.4 mph, and towing a deer it keeps pulling to 13.0%. One charge covers 37 to 44 miles of flat dirt at 10 mph and 70°F (nine-pick model). Our SF20H review covers the fold and the fit.
Who it is wrong for. Long days: 672 Wh is the smallest pack on this page, and the TIGER RE carries 1,680 Wh for $100 more. Heavier riders have 50 lb of capacity left after 250 lb and their gear; the TIGER RE leaves 120.

Mid: Freesky Ranger Air M-540, $1,299
Freesky's own photograph of the Ranger Air in green, the colorway the button below adds.
Two motors for the price of the one-motor SF20H. Freesky sells it at $1,299, and so do we (Freesky's listing).
It switches between rear-wheel drive and both motors, stops on dual 4-piston hydraulic brakes, and rides a 120 mm fork with a 180 mm coil rear shock. Freesky lists it as "UL2849 Certified by TÜV" (Freesky).
Freesky prints no rated wattage, so this page computes no climbing speed for it. One charge covers 63 to 74 miles of flat dirt at 10 mph and 70°F for a 200 lb rider with 30 lb of gear (nine-pick model). Our Ranger Air review covers the rest of the sheet.
Who it is wrong for. Public land with a class rule. At a published 34 mph it sits outside every state definition; the TIGER RE is the class-shaped hauler with the same 400 lb rating.

Top of the band: Qiolor TIGER RE, $1,399
Qiolor's own photograph of the TIGER RE in black, the colorway the button below adds.
The range pick. Qiolor lists it at $2,099 and sells the black 35Ah at $1,399; we match it (Qiolor's listing).
Qiolor publishes a 750 W motor that "peaks at 1100W with 85Nm torque," a removable 48V 35Ah battery (1,680 Wh), a 400 lb max load, 20 × 4.0 tires, dual-piston hydraulic brakes, a hydraulic rear shock and a 98 lb weight with the 35Ah pack. It ships as a Class II at a 20 mph default, single speed, built to IP5.
For a 200 lb rider with 30 lb of gear, one charge covers 87 to 102 miles of flat dirt at 10 mph and 70°F, and 63 to 84 miles at 14°F. Qiolor's own figure is "up to 130 miles" on pedal assist at PAS 1 (nine-pick model; Qiolor). Our TIGER RE review computes its range further.
Who it is wrong for. Riders over 5'9", Qiolor's recommended top: the SF20H fits to 6'2". Steep ground: a single-speed hub climbs 10% at 7.8 to 9.6 mph, and the geared FAT-HD 1.0 Pro at 10.8 to 13.1.

| SF20H, TIGER RE, NOVA | 29 | 20 | A 750 W motor where the line is "less than 750 watts" (19), a throttle where only pedal assist qualifies (1) |
| FAT-HD 1.0 Pro | 4 | 45 | A 1,000 W motor |
| DK400, M20, Ranger Air, ST202 Pro | 0 | 49 | Top speed over 28 mph, or a throttle past 20 mph |
Alaska and Kentucky write no e-bike definition, so each row's count leaves those two out. A definition is the vehicle code's; your wildlife agency or land manager writes the rule for its land.
Why a 750 W motor fits only 29 states
Seventeen state definitions say "less than 750 watts" and Texas and West Virginia say "fewer than 750 watts" (the 50-state wording census). A motor rated at exactly 750 W is outside those words: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, West Virginia and Wyoming, as read on September 24, 2026.
New Jersey is the twentieth, for a different reason: P.L.2025, c.285 limits its low-speed electric bicycle to pedal assist, and a bike with a throttle falls under its motorized-bicycle definition instead. Our New Jersey e-bike law guide covers the license, registration and insurance that follow. The 500 W TIGER JR clears every "less than 750 watts" state, and in those 19 states it is the pick to buy.
The National Park Service and the BLM write the line the other way: an electric bicycle has "an electric motor of not more than 750 watts" (36 CFR § 1.4; 43 CFR § 8340.0-5(j)). So on their land, where a route is open to e-bikes, the 750 W SF20H, TIGER RE and NOVA fit the definition's words. Our public-land guide reads each agency's rule.
The 1,000 W mid-drive fits four definitions
The FAT-HD 1.0 Pro's 1,000 W motor at 20 mph sits inside the definitions of DC, which sets a 20 mph limit and no wattage; Montana, which also sets a speed and no wattage; Oregon, whose ORS 801.258 classes carry no watt figure; and Rhode Island, whose limit is a motor "rated not more than two (2) (S.A.E.) horsepower," about 1,491 W.
Four picks belong on private land and motor routes
The DK400 publishes 28 mph with a throttle, the M20 50 km/h in its off-road mode, the Ranger Air 34 mph, and the ST202 Pro 35 mph on two 1,200 W hubs. At those published speeds the screen puts all four outside every state definition (legal matrix).
They ride where a motor vehicle may: private land, and the roads and trails your land manager opens to motor vehicles. Our hunting-land table has the rule for each state's wildlife land.
On a national forest the stakes are federal. Once a forest's motor vehicle use map designates its routes, operating a motor vehicle there "other than in accordance with those designations" is prohibited (36 CFR § 261.13), and the penalty is "imprisonment of not more than six months or a fine," or both (36 CFR § 261.1b). Read the map before you unload the bike.
All 50 states' wildlife-agency rules on e-bikes, read in the regulation and dated.
Read your state's land ruleWhich hunting e-bike under $2,000 can haul a deer?
Seven of the nine can tow a field-dressed whitetail up a 10% dirt road on the motor alone. The model loads a 200 lb rider, 30 lb of gear and a 22 lb trailer carrying 115 lb, the field-dressed weight the Pennsylvania Game Commission's chart gives a 146 lb deer.
| Pick | 10% grade with the deer | Steepest grade it pulls |
|---|---|---|
| ST202 Pro | 16.0–19.3 mph | 21.6% |
| M20 | 8.6–10.7 mph | 14.1% |
| SF20H | 6.0–7.4 mph | 13.0% |
| DK400 | 6.0–7.4 mph | 12.2% |
| TIGER RE | 5.6–7.0 mph | 12.1% |
| NOVA | 5.6–7.0 mph | 11.1% |
| FAT-HD 1.0 Pro | 7.7–9.6 mph | geared, see below |
| TIGER JR | stalls | 8.8% |
Computed, never ridden (nine-pick model). The range in each cell reads the rated watts two ways. The Ranger Air has no row because Freesky prints no rated wattage.
A hub motor's steepest grade is set by its torque. A mid-drive like the FAT-HD drives the chain, so the gear you choose changes the torque at the wheel, and the model gives it no single steepest grade. For the trailer itself, our game cart and trailer guide rates 15 by load.
Which hunting e-bike under $2,000 has the longest battery range?
The Raptor ST202 Pro, with 2,600 Wh. Battery size decides how many cold mornings you get from one charge, and the gap between the picks is wide (nine-pick model).
| Pick | Battery | Flat dirt, 10 mph, 70°F | Same ride at 14°F | The maker's own figure |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ST202 Pro | 2,600 Wh | 127–150 mi | 92–123 mi | 80 miles |
| TIGER RE | 1,680 Wh | 87–102 mi | 63–84 mi | up to 130 miles |
| FAT-HD 1.0 Pro | 1,200 Wh | 65–76 mi | 47–63 mi | up to 60 miles |
| Ranger Air | 1,200 Wh | 63–74 mi | 45–61 mi | 60–105 miles |
| DK400 | 873.6 Wh | 48–57 mi | 35–47 mi | 45+ miles |
| M20 | 864 Wh | 43–51 mi | 31–42 mi | 70–140 km |
| TIGER JR | 720 Wh | 38–45 mi | 28–37 mi | 70 miles assisted |
| NOVA | 720 Wh | 38–44 mi | 27–36 mi | 70 miles assisted |
| SF20H | 672 Wh | 37–44 mi | 27–36 mi | 52 miles |
Computed for a 200 lb rider with 30 lb of gear at a steady 10 mph on flat packed dirt (nine-pick model). The makers' figures are their own, read October 5, 2026, under conditions each states or leaves out (card facts).
Plan on the lower figure in each row. Where a maker's own range is below our computed one, as Smartravel's 80 miles is for the ST202 Pro, the maker's figure is the safer number to take into the woods.
How battery range changes a backcountry hunt
Plan on the lower of the two figures in each row, then halve what is left for the ride out. Hills, a trailer and a faster pace each cut range, and a morning at 14°F leaves 72 to 83% of a warm day's charge in the cells the model draws on (nine-pick model).
A 10-mile ride in and out is easy on any pick. A 40-mile day of logging roads in November is a job for the TIGER RE, the FAT-HD 1.0 Pro, the Ranger Air or the ST202 Pro. Keep the battery indoors overnight and fit it just before you leave. Our winter e-bike guide covers riding and charging in the cold.
The fastest e-bikes under $2,000
The fastest e-bike under $2,000 on this page is the Raptor ST202 Pro at a published 35 mph, then the Ranger Air at 34 mph, the M20 at 50 km/h (31 mph) in its off-road mode, and the DK400 at 28 mph. The other five ship at 20 mph.
Speed is the trade-off on hunting land. Each of the four fast picks sits outside all 49 state definitions at its published top speed, which puts it under motor-vehicle rules. On a hunt, the climb with a load decides more than the top speed, and the deer table computes it (legal matrix).
How much can a hunting e-bike under $2,000 carry?
The average limit across the nine picks, as a median, is 375 lb: the makers' rated loads run from 330 lb to 450 lb. The rating covers you, your gear and anything on the rack, so subtract before you buy (nine-pick model).
| Pick | Rated load | Left after 200 lb + 30 lb of gear | Left after 250 lb + 30 lb |
|---|---|---|---|
| NOVA | 450 lb | 220 lb | 170 lb |
| TIGER JR, TIGER RE, Ranger Air | 400 lb | 170 lb | 120 lb |
| FAT-HD 1.0 Pro | 375 lb | 145 lb | 95 lb |
| DK400, ST202 Pro | 350 lb | 120 lb | 70 lb |
| M20, SF20H | 330 lb | 100 lb | 50 lb |
Makers' ratings read October 5, 2026; subtraction ours. Samebike's manual rates the M20 at 330 lb and its US product page prints 180 kg (396.8 lb); this table uses the lower figure.
In the deer table the deer rides in a trailer rated for it, never on the bike. For a rider over 250 lb with gear, the NOVA leaves the most rating free, 170 lb.
Hydraulic or mechanical brakes for a loaded descent
Among these nine, hydraulic is the norm: eight of the nine makers' pages list hydraulic disc brakes, and the NOVA and Ranger Air list four-piston calipers (card facts). Samebike puts the makers' case in one line on its M20 page: "Compare with mechanical disc brakes, Hydraulic brakes provide a better braking effect in any condition, ride rain or shine."
| Pick | Brakes, in the maker's words |
|---|---|
| NOVA | Four-piston hydraulic, 203 mm front and 180 mm rear rotors |
| Ranger Air | Dual 4-piston hydraulic |
| FAT-HD 1.0 Pro | PROMAX hydraulic with motor cutoff, 180/160 mm rotors |
| SF20H | Dual LOGAN hydraulic disc |
| TIGER RE | Dual-piston hydraulic |
| M20, ST202 Pro | Hydraulic disc |
| TIGER JR | Hydraulic disc on the spec table |
| DK400 | Mechanical disc |
Each maker's US page, October 5, 2026. Qiolor's spec table lists hydraulic brakes on the TIGER JR, and a feature panel on the same page describes mechanical discs.
A loaded descent is the hard test of any brake: you, your gear and a deer behind you, on gravel, going down. For steep ground with meat behind you, the NOVA has four pistons and a 203 mm front rotor, and the Ranger Air four pistons. On the DK400, the one mechanical pick, take loaded descents slowly and have the brakes adjusted before the season.
Which picks fit your height?
The maker's recommended rider height is the first spec to read, because a bike that does not fit is not a bargain.
| Pick | Maker's rider height | Frame |
|---|---|---|
| TIGER JR, TIGER RE | 5'1" to 5'9" | Step-over |
| SF20H | 5'3" to 6'2" | Step-through, folds |
| Ranger Air | 5'3" to 6'8" | Step-through |
| M20 | 5'6" to 7'2" | Step-over |
| FAT-HD 1.0 Pro | 5'7" to 6'4" | Step-over |
| DK400, ST202 Pro | "One Size Fits Most" | Step-over |
| NOVA | No height range printed | Two-rider bench |
Each maker's US page, October 5, 2026. Samebike's range is read from its size drawing.
At 6'1", four picks list you inside their window: the SF20H, Ranger Air, M20 and FAT-HD 1.0 Pro. Past 6'4", the Ranger Air is the step-through that still fits. Our guide for tall riders reads the window of every bike we sell (nine-pick model).
Fits riders 5'3" to 6'8": two motors, 400 lb rated and a step-through frame, at Freesky's own price.
Add the Ranger Air, $1,299What the next $500 buys
From the DK400 at $699.99 to the TIGER JR at $899, $199.01 buys public-land reach: 48 definitions instead of none, and 50 lb more rated load. From $899 to the TIGER RE at $1,399, $500 buys more than twice the battery, 1,680 Wh against 720 Wh, and 49 to 57 more miles of flat dirt per charge (nine-pick model).
From the TIGER RE to the FAT-HD 1.0 Pro at $1,999, $600 buys gears. The mid-drive climbs 10% at 10.8 to 13.1 mph where the TIGER RE holds 7.8 to 9.6, and it fits riders to 6'4". For steep private ground, the ST202 Pro at $1,699.99 buys two motors and the steepest computed tow on this page, 21.6% with a deer (nine-pick model).
What the hunting brands charge
Google's AI Overview for the search hunting e bike under $1000, read on October 3, 2026, says "premium hunting e-bikes from brands like QuietKat or Bakcou easily cost upwards of $3,000 to $7,000" (the Overview sentences). We read the full e-bike lineups of five hunting-marketed brands at their own US stores on October 5, 2026 (the specialist price census).
| Brand | E-bike models read | Lowest entry price | Median entry price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bakcou | 13 | $3,359.30 | $4,999 |
| QuietKat | 7 | $2,499.99 | $3,999.99 |
| Rambo | 14 | $1,429.99 | $3,629.99 |
| Birch | 2 | $2,799 | $2,899 |
| Puckipuppy | 19 | $599.99 | $1,199.99 |
Entry price is each model's lowest version, in USD as each store served it. Accessories, frames, kids' bikes, trikes and bundles are left out. Bakcou's $3,359.30 Mule and Puckipuppy's $599.99 Samoyed showed no stock at their makers that day.
QuietKat's lineup starts at $2,499.99, below the Overview's $3,000, and Bakcou's at $3,359.30. Two of the five sell a model under $2,000. All nine picks on this page come in under the lowest QuietKat, and the DK400 costs less than a third of it (specialist price census).
Bikes to stay away from: four checks
Stay away from the ones you cannot check. A bike earns a place on hunting land through four published facts, and each takes a minute to read on the maker's own page.
- A rated wattage and a top speed. Without both, you cannot screen the bike against your state's definition. Match them to our legal matrix or your state's own statute.
- A rated load that covers you, your gear and your pack. Subtract before you buy, as the load table does.
- A safety-standard statement for the electrical system. On June 24, 2026 the CPSC proposed that electrical systems using lithium-ion batteries in e-bikes and other micromobility products "comply with applicable voluntary standards, with modifications" (91 FR 38162). The rule is proposed, not final; comments closed on August 24, 2026.
- A seller in the US who answers. A bike that stops in October needs a person to write to the same week. Ours is support@redtailebikes.com.

What a single maker's store cannot give you is the comparison: six brands' bikes screened against the same 51 definitions, the same deer and the same cold morning. Each brand has its own shelf here: Qiolor, Smartravel, Samebike, VTUVIA, Freesky and Eunorau. Or browse by build: the fat-tire, two-motor and cargo shelves.
The range pick: 1,680 Wh, a 400 lb rating and a 20 mph Class II default, shipped free to the lower 48.
Start with the TIGER REThe honest ledger
What a hunting e-bike under $2,000 gives you, and where each pick's fit runs out.
What you get for under $2,000
- A motor for the ride in and the pack-out: seven of nine picks tow a field-dressed whitetail up a 10% dirt road in the model.
- Range for a long day: the ST202 Pro and TIGER RE compute more than 60 miles of flat dirt even at 14°F.
- A choice of law: a 500 W pick inside 48 definitions, three 750 W picks inside 29, and four machines for private ground.
- Hydraulic disc brakes listed for eight of nine picks, four-piston on two.
- Prices from $699.99, $1,800 below the lowest QuietKat entry price we read.
Where the fit ends, and which of our picks to read instead
- Public land under a class rule rules out the DK400, M20, Ranger Air and ST202 Pro: buy the TIGER JR, TIGER RE, SF20H or NOVA.
- A 750 W motor sits outside the words in 19 "less than 750 watts" states: there the 500 W TIGER JR is the bike.
- Riders over 5'9" outgrow the TIGER JR and TIGER RE: the SF20H fits to 6'2" and the Ranger Air to 6'8".
- A 500 W hub stalls above 8.8% with a deer in tow: for steep ground, the M20 on private land or the SF20H on public.
- A whole elk outgrows the load this page computes, one 115 lb deer in a trailer. The hunting pillar plans the trips by animal.
- Against our own interest: if your stand is a short walk from the truck on land that allows bicycles, a fat bike and a game cart may be all you need. We would rather say so than sell you a motor you will not use.
Limitations
Twelve limits on what this page could establish, numbered so each can be checked against the data published with it.
- Every figure is verified against the maker's published specification and recomputed. Each maker's US page was read on October 5, 2026, and every quoted figure was checked word for word in a saved copy of that page; prices, stock and cart buttons were read on our store and against the maker's price and stock for that colorway the same day.
- The physics is a model, and its speeds are ceilings. Steady state, no wind, no start from rest and no heat derating, with battery-to-wheel efficiency of 0.68 to 0.80. The packed-dirt rolling resistance, 0.015, is the midpoint of a lab range for treaded tires, which is an inference. Climbing reads each maker's rated watts two ways, as output or as battery input at 80%, which is why each cell is a range.
- Hub torque is each maker's maximum. A peak figure makes the towing limits optimistic. The mid-drive figures assume a low enough gear, so no single steepest grade is printed for the FAT-HD 1.0 Pro.
- The Ranger Air has no climbing row. Freesky publishes two 2,000 W peak motors and no rated figure, and the model climbs on rated watts only.
- Where a maker states one figure twice, both are printed and the arithmetic takes the safer one. Samebike rates the M20 at 330 lb in its manual and 180 kg on its US page, and gives 110.2 lb in its manual for the weight; the load table uses 330 lb. VTUVIA gives the SF20H's weight as 70 lb with battery on its specifications page and 60 lb with rack and fenders on its product page, and its range as 52 and 70 miles. Smartravel gives the ST202 Pro 150 N·m in feature copy and 86 N·m per hub in its spec table.
- Two brake rows carry a second description on the same page. Qiolor's TIGER JR spec table lists hydraulic disc brakes and a feature panel describes mechanical ones; Smartravel's DK400 detail panel and spec table list mechanical brakes and its frameset line names hydraulic disc mounts. The brake table prints the spec table's word.
- Cold figures stop at 14°F. The cell measurements behind them disagree widely below that, so no range below 14°F is printed.
- The legal screen reads published figures. Each verdict is the maker's rated watts, top speed and throttle against the statute's own words; the M20 was screened at its off-road mode. A state's e-bike definition is not a hunting rule, and your wildlife agency or land manager sets its own.
- The 750 W wording was read on September 24, 2026, and the screen run on October 5, 2026. A state that rewrites its definition moves the counts.
- The price ladder counts listings, not specifications. It counts in-stock models by band and brand only; our listings print motor figures as rated or peak, so no motor median is printed.
- The specialist prices are one day's read. Prices and stock at five other brands' stores move without notice; the census file carries each listing's URL.
- No search-volume figure appears on this page. The questions behind its headings were harvested from Google's People Also Ask, autocomplete and AI answer engines and are counted as phrasings, never as volume.
Expiry conditions. Re-check this page when a maker changes a published motor, battery, load, height or top speed, when a pick sells out or changes price, or when a state rewrites its e-bike definition. In the ordinary course it is re-verified every six months, next on April 5, 2027.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best hunting e-bike under $2,000?
For most hunters, the Qiolor TIGER RE at $1,399: a 750 W Class II with a 1,680 Wh pack, a 400 lb rating and 87 to 102 computed miles of flat dirt at 10 mph, inside 29 state e-bike definitions. For steep private ground, the Raptor ST202 Pro at $1,699.99.
What is the best hunting e-bike under $1,000?
The Qiolor TIGER JR at $899. Its 500 W motor and 20 mph fit 48 of the 51 state definitions, it is rated for 400 lb, and Shop Pay splits it into four interest-free payments of $224.75. On private land only, the DK400 costs $699.99.
What is the best electric bike under $1,500 for hunting?
The TIGER RE at $1,399 for range and a 400 lb rating; the SF20H at $1,299 if you are taller than 5'9" or need it to fold; the Ranger Air at $1,299 for two motors on private land.
What is the fastest e-bike under $2,000?
On this page, the Raptor ST202 Pro at a published 35 mph and the Ranger Air at 34 mph. Both sit outside every state's e-bike definition at those speeds, so they ride under motor-vehicle rules.
Which hunting e-bike has the longest battery range?
The Raptor ST202 Pro, with 2,600 Wh: 127 to 150 computed miles of flat dirt at 10 mph and 70°F, and 92 to 123 at 14°F, for a 200 lb rider with 30 lb of gear. Smartravel's own figure is 80 miles. Among class-shaped bikes, the TIGER RE computes 87 to 102.
Are these e-bikes legal on public hunting land?
Five of them can be, depending on your state and on land whose rule admits their class. The TIGER JR fits 48 state definitions, the SF20H, TIGER RE and NOVA fit 29, and the FAT-HD 1.0 Pro fits four. The DK400, M20, Ranger Air and ST202 Pro fit none, so they belong on private land and motor routes (legal matrix).
What is the average weight limit for hunting e-bikes?
The median rated load across these nine picks is 375 lb, from 330 lb on the M20 and SF20H to 450 lb on the Qiolor NOVA. The rating covers you, your gear and your rack, so a 250 lb rider with 30 lb of gear has 50 to 170 lb left (nine-pick model).
How do hydraulic brakes compare to mechanical ones?
Eight of these nine makers' pages list hydraulic disc brakes, and the NOVA and Ranger Air list four-piston calipers; the DK400 lists mechanical discs. Samebike's own comparison says hydraulic brakes "provide a better braking effect in any condition."
Are there any UL-certified hunting e-bikes under $2,000?
Yes. On their makers' US pages, the SF20H reads "UL2271 & UL2849 Safety Certified," the Ranger Air "UL2849 Certified by TÜV," the DK400 and ST202 Pro "Safety Certified in Accordance with UL 2849," and the FAT-HD 1.0 Pro answers "Yes" in its "UL CERTIFIED" row.
Can you finance a hunting e-bike under $2,000?
Yes, with Shop Pay at checkout. Below $1,000, four interest-free payments: $175.00 on the DK400, $224.75 on the TIGER JR and $249.75 on the M20. From $1,000, 12 months at 15% APR, from $117.25 a month on the SF20H and Ranger Air to $180.43 on the FAT-HD 1.0 Pro.
What e-bikes should hunters stay away from?
Any bike whose maker does not publish a rated wattage, a top speed and a rated load, because without them you cannot check it against your land's rule or your own weight. Look for a safety-standard statement for the electrical system and a seller in the US who answers.
Do you need a $5,000 hunting e-bike?
Not to get a motor, a fat tire and a 400 lb rating. The median entry price we read was $3,999.99 at QuietKat and $4,999 at Bakcou on October 5, 2026; the TIGER RE carries that rating and 1,680 Wh for $1,399.
The bottom line
Buy for your land first, your load second, your budget third. For public land with a class rule, the TIGER JR at $899 is the under-$1,000 answer and the TIGER RE at $1,399 the range pick. For private land and steep ground, the Raptor ST202 Pro at $1,699.99 computes the steepest deer tow here. For a hunt that runs past $2,000, the hunting pillar picks by animal and forest.
$899, rated for 400 lb, shipped free to the lower 48, or four interest-free payments of $224.75 with Shop Pay.
