How we verified this directory — Milad Ghobadibeygvand, BScN

Seven e-bike makers' dealer maps were read to 10 miles around Inglewood, with OpenStreetMap, Yelp, Superpages, Google Maps, every shop's own website and eight questions put to answer engines. The Census geocoder settled which addresses sit inside the city.

A store counts when a page it runs sells e-bikes or a maker's dealer map lists it for e-bikes. None inside Inglewood qualified, so the six nearest floors are listed in full. Last verified October 8, 2026; next check April 2027.

Quick Answer

As of October 8, 2026, no store inside Inglewood sells e-bikes. The six nearest e-bike floors sit 4.1 to 4.8 miles away: Sports Basement South Bay in Hawthorne, Luna Cycle and eRYDE in El Segundo, REI and Helen's Cycles in Manhattan Beach, and Summit Ski & Cycle on Lincoln Boulevard in Los Angeles.

Pick the class you want with the buying guide before you drive over, and read the California law page with Inglewood's citywide sidewalk ban below.

Inglewood had 102,774 residents in the Census Bureau's 2024 estimate. The house on the cover is the Centinela Adobe on Midfield Avenue, which the City's Historical Society page lists as the "Centinela Valley Adobe built in 1834 by Ignacio Machado."

Its National Register nomination places it on "the top of a knoll overlooking the Valley" and describes "wide covered verandas," the long porch you see on the cover. The address mails as Los Angeles, yet the Census geocoder places the adobe inside Inglewood.

The 0 Verified eBike Shops in Inglewood

Three bike listings carry an Inglewood address on a map, and none of them sells e-bikes from a page it runs. If you want a new e-bike, you will be crossing a city line, and the next section lists the six floors closest to the city's Census point.

Tied to Inglewood, named and not counted.

  • Closed: Penuel Bicycles at 1329 N La Brea Ave, the one bicycle shop the sources place inside the city, which Google Maps marks permanently closed. Perplexity still names it as the city's bike shop.
  • A sporting-goods store: H & R Sporting Goods at 407 W Arbor Vitae St, a "Sporting goods store" on Google Maps with no website and no page naming an e-bike.
  • Kick scooters, not bikes: The Vault Pro Scooters at 239 S La Brea Ave, whose own site sells "Pro Scooter Completes," parts and fingerboards, and no bicycle.

Set aside before those verdicts: JD Sports at Hollywood Park, a shoe store, and Ebikes2U's old address at 10420 S La Cienega Blvd. That address sits in unincorporated Lennox, and the company's contact page now gives its Los Angeles location as 15320 Proctor Ave in the City of Industry.

Three other Inglewood names come up in bike searches, and none is a bicycle shop: Burn Cycling & Fitness on North La Brea Avenue, a group-fitness studio whose spin bikes are for its classes; Live 100 Moto on West Hyde Park Boulevard, which rents dirt bikes and UTVs; and Speed Biker Shop on West Century Boulevard, listed for motorcycle repair.

Bar chart of the three bike listings tied to Inglewood by verdict: no verified e-bike seller, 1 permanently closed bicycle shop, 1 sporting-goods store that names no e-bike and 1 kick-scooter shop

Metro Buses, the K Line and Bike Share — Taking Your eBike Through Inglewood

Metro runs the buses and the K Line through Inglewood, and its Biking on Metro page sets the rules for bringing a bike.

On a bus. "All Metro buses have two or more racks located on the outside front of the bus," Metro says, but "Motorized bicycles or any bicycle over 55 pounds cannot be accommodated on Metro bus bike racks." Inside the bus, Metro takes "Non-motorized, folding bikes with 20-inch or smaller wheels."

On a train. "Electric bicycles are allowed if they are the size of a regular bike and are subject to safety inspection by security personnel," and "Bikes are not allowed on escalators," so take the elevator or stairs.

Three K Line stations in the city. Metro's K Line opening notice names Fairview Heights, Downtown Inglewood and Westchester/Veterans among the first stations, and the Census coordinates layer places all three inside Inglewood.

No bike share in the city. Metro Bike Share's public station feed listed 224 stations on October 8, 2026, and none of them sits inside Inglewood. The seven stations in a box drawn around the city all fall in Los Angeles, including one named "Inglewood & Ballona" on Inglewood Boulevard.

Weigh your e-bike before you count on the bus. Metro's racks refuse a motorized bicycle and anything over 55 pounds, so plan a trip with a full-size e-bike around the K Line, where e-bikes "the size of a regular bike" are allowed.

Riding the K Line or a Metro bus with your bike? The folding guide gives every pick's folded size in inches, the number to check before you carry one aboard, and treats the ride-to-the-bus or train case in a section of its own.

The Inglewood Pumptrack, Edward Vincent Jr. Park and the Rail to Rail Path

The pump track in Edward Vincent Jr. Park is the first in Los Angeles by its builder's account, and its own rules keep e-bikes off it. Metro's new corridor starts near the city's Fairview Heights station.

The Inglewood Pumptrack

The track sits in Edward Vincent Jr. Park at 700 Warren Lane, where the City's facility page lists a "Pump Track" and a "Walking Path" and opening hours of 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. The Grow Cycling Foundation, which built it, calls it "the very first pumptrack in Los Angeles."

The track's own rules say "No scooters, e-bikes, motorized vehicles or RC cars," so bring a regular bike. They also require "Helmets REQUIRED for people under 18" and keep the track "Open during park hours only."

The same page sets a weekly rotation: "Tuesday: Bike Priority," "Thursday: Bike Priority" and "Saturday: Bike Priority," with bikes and skaters sharing the track the other four days. The track's home page adds that "Our free app serves as the centralized hub for the Inglewood Pumptrack."

Park rules that reach a bike

Inglewood's § 5-67(t) bars riding any vehicle, "including a bicycle," onto a park road or path where the entrance is posted "closed to vehicles." Under § 5-70.4(a), no one may ride bicycles or other personal transportation "within the skating surface of any Public Skate Park Facility."

Ride onto a skating surface and you can be cited, removed or both: § 5-70.8 makes it an infraction, fined on the § 1-18 scale below, and says violators "shall be cited and/or removed from the Public Skate Park Facility."

The Rail to Rail Active Transportation Corridor

Metro's opening notice from May 17, 2025 describes "a 5.5-mile multi-modal path and public green space in Inglewood and South L.A." It begins "at the intersection of 67th Street and 11th Avenue near the Fairview Heights Metro K Line Station" and runs east to the A Line's Slauson Station. Metro's notice does not say which classes of e-bike may ride it, so read the signs at each entrance.

Leave the e-bike at the pump track's fence. The track's rules name e-bikes in their ban, so bring a regular bike, and every rider under 18 wears a helmet there.

California and Inglewood eBike Laws — What Makes an eBike Legal in Inglewood

California sets the classes and the age line. Inglewood adds a sidewalk ban that covers the whole city and names electric devices outright.

The state's definition and classes

Vehicle Code § 312.5(a) defines an e-bike as a bicycle with "fully operable pedals and an electric motor that does not exceed 750 watts of power."

Class Motor help Assist stops at Rider
1 Only while pedaling 20 mph Any age; helmet under 18
2 Pedaling or throttle 20 mph Any age; helmet under 18
3 Only while pedaling; speedometer 28 mph 16 and up; every rider in a helmet

Check for the permanent label § 312.5(c) requires, with "the classification number, top assisted speed, and motor wattage." Under § 24016(b), "an electric bicycle is not a motor vehicle," so it needs no plate or registration from the state.

Section 21213 keeps riders under 16 off Class 3, and § 21212 requires "a properly fitted and fastened bicycle helmet" on anyone under 18.

No riding on any Inglewood sidewalk

Section 3-22 makes it unlawful "to operate a vehicle, bicycle, skateboard, or electric or motorized device within any sidewalk area, parkway, or any other right-of-way intended only for pedestrian travel, except at a driveway approach." The section names no zone or exception by neighborhood, so the ban holds on every block.

The old license rule

Section 3-100, adopted in 1975, still makes it unlawful to ride a bicycle on city streets "without first obtaining a license" from the Registrar of Bicycles, at a fee of "one dollar ($1.00) per year" under § 3-104. The state has since taken that power away: under Vehicle Code § 39002(a), as amended in 2022, a city with a licensing ordinance "shall not prohibit the operation of an unlicensed bicycle."

What a violation can cost

Ride your e-bike on an Inglewood sidewalk and you risk a citation. Section 1-18.1(a) lists § 3-22 among the sections "specifically declared to be punishable as infractions," and for an infraction § 1-18 sets a fine "not exceeding $100 for the first violation," then "$200 for a second violation of the same ordinance within one year," then "$500 for each additional violation."

A second sidewalk ride within a year can be fined at $200. Section 1-18.3 also lets the City Attorney "charge any violations of the code including those listed in section 1-18.1 as misdemeanors," so your sidewalk ride can be charged as a misdemeanor instead.

What changes on January 1, 2027

From January 1, 2027, AB 2346, Chapter 842, sets a prima facie limit of 10 miles per hour on a sidewalk. From January 1, 2027, SB 1167, Chapter 846, bars selling "A vehicle with motor power of more than 750 watts" as an e-bike; both take effect under the state Constitution's art. IV, § 8(c)(1).

Before your first Inglewood ride: stay off every sidewalk, keep Class 3 for riders 16 and up, and put a helmet on every rider under 18. A city bicycle license is not required to ride.

Where to Ride Your eBike in Inglewood

With the sidewalks closed, your e-bike belongs in the street: under § 21200, a rider "has all the rights" of a driver. For a longer ride, the Rail to Rail corridor runs east from near the Fairview Heights station; read its entrance signs first.

Six panels of where an Inglewood e-bike may ride: no riding on any sidewalk in the city, walk a park path posted closed to vehicles, no bikes on skate park surfaces, no e-bikes on the Inglewood Pumptrack, no city license needed to ride, and age 16 for a Class 3 anywhere in California

Your Inglewood riding checklist

  • Read the label for 750 W or less before you buy.
  • Ride in the street; every sidewalk in the city is closed to bikes and electric devices.
  • Bring a regular bike, not the e-bike, to the pump track.
  • Walk any park path posted closed to vehicles.
  • Weigh the bike before you rely on a Metro bus rack: 55 pounds is the limit.
  • Use the elevator or stairs at K Line stations; bikes stay off escalators.

Why buy from us instead

If none of the six floors has the bike you want, or you would rather skip the drive, Redtail's shipping policy promises "free shipping on every electric bike within the contiguous United States," an Inglewood address included.

Report shipping damage within 48 hours and, per How Buying Works, "we file the carrier claim for you." If a bike will not power on or charge, the refund policy says "we coordinate repair or replacement remotely," and you can pay with Shop Pay Installments, whose terms depend on the bike's price.

Sources, limitations and how this page was verified

The denominator

Inglewood had 102,774 residents in the Census Bureau's 2024 vintage estimate (California file, row "Inglewood city"), against a 2020 estimates base of 107,765.

Three bike listings inside the city were tied to it by at least one source: 0 verified, 1 closed, 1 sporting-goods store and 1 kick-scooter shop. A shoe store, a fitness studio, a dirt-bike rental, a motorcycle repair listing and a stale roster address were set aside first.

The 110 of the 113 leads a map could place were measured; the 36 inside 5 miles, and the three no map could place, each got a verdict. Six distinct e-bike floors stand inside the ring, none of them inside the city.

The sources, and what each one could and could not do

Seven makers' dealer maps were read to 10 miles on October 7, 2026, each beside a control: Velotric, Aventon, Giant, Bosch, Specialized, Trek and Pedego's California directory. Bosch's map is why REI and Helen's count, and Velotric's is why Summit does.

Directories and AI search. OpenStreetMap was read as a lead pool, never a count, with Yelp, Superpages and Google Maps in a browser. Seven answer engines were asked eight questions: Perplexity and Bing's Copilot search answered all eight and Brave three on October 8, Google's AI Mode all eight on October 10, and the other three could not be read; several described Inglewood, Ontario. Every California business the engines named or cited was read and given a verdict.

The city code was read whole on eCode360, 3,512 sections across every title; the words "electric bicycle" appear only in the pedicab rules and two tables of state-law references. Metro Bike Share's station feed, the pump track's rules and the shop pages that render in a browser were read on October 8, 2026.

City limits

Every address placed inside Inglewood here returned "Inglewood city" from the Census geocoder; JD Sports, The Vault Pro Scooters, the K Line stations and the bike-share stations were placed from their map points by the Census coordinates layer. Mileages are straight lines from the Census Gazetteer point; road miles run longer.

Limitations

  1. What each store keeps on its floor changes week to week, so call before you drive.
  2. REI's hours differ between its store page and Google Maps; the page prints both.
  3. Local and utility e-bike incentives were not searched beyond the state program.
  4. The pump track's rules are the Grow Cycling Foundation's; the City's code does not name the track.
  5. A bike shop that no directory, map search or answer engine returned could be missing from the 5-mile ring.
  6. Twenty-one businesses the answer engines named or cited were given verdicts on October 10, 2026; the six inside 5 miles are a fitness studio, three rental agencies and two repair shops, and the verified count did not change.

What would age this page

  • A store opening inside Inglewood, or a repair shop starting to sell e-bikes.
  • The City amending § 3-22 or Chapter 5, Metro changing its bike rules, or bike share reaching the city.
  • January 1, 2027, when AB 2346 and SB 1167 take effect.
