Broward County Transit puts its bicycle rules inside its own How to Ride guide, read on September 4, 2026 and dated by the agency to August 25, 2026. There are three of them, one for each stage of the trip, and they are short.
Before the bus arrives, in the operator's own words: "Remove personal items from your bike before placing it on the bike rack." On an e-bike that is a longer list than on a road bike, since a handlebar bag, a phone mount, a saddle bag and a removable battery all count.

Trail Access — The Beachfront, A1A and the Promenade
The riding here divides cleanly. A1A's road and marked lanes carry the long beachfront run north toward Hillsboro Inlet. The rebuilt oceanfront promenade and the beach accesses around the pier are the shared spaces where speed is a social question before it is a legal one. Behind both, Federal Highway's shoulders and Sample Road's lanes carry the everyday miles.
What governs the shared spaces is a sign, not a blanket rule. Under Pompano Beach Code § 72.01, adopted by Ordinance 2014-23, the city may post signs prohibiting bicycle riding on particular sidewalks or streets, and "when the signs are in place, it shall constitute a violation for any person to disobey them." No posted sign, no city prohibition. Read the signage at each beach access and along the promenade, because the answer genuinely changes block by block.
Keep the bike off the sand. No written city ban was located, and none is needed as a buying argument: soft sand, salt spray and a hub motor are a warranty claim in progress. Ride the road and the marked lanes, walk the crossovers, and rinse the frame with fresh water after any beachfront day.

Florida eBike Laws — What Makes an eBike Legal in Pompano Beach

The state definition
Under Fla. Stat. § 316.003(23), an electric bicycle has pedals that turn, a saddle and an electric motor of less than 750 watts, in one of three assist classes ending at 20 or 28 miles per hour.
No registration, title or insurance is required for the bike or the rider under § 316.20655(2), and subsection (4) grants "all of the rights and duties applicable to the rider of a bicycle." The city layer, signs rather than bans
Pompano's bicycle chapter does two things. § 72.01 authorizes posted prohibitions on particular sidewalks and streets and makes disobeying a posted sign the offense. § 72.02(B) adopts the state's bicycle statute wholesale, so what Florida allows a bicyclist, Pompano allows too.
A quiet reassurance sits one chapter over. The scooter rules at § 131.21 define the regulated motorized scooter and state outright that "the term does not include an electric bicycle." § 72.03, added by Ordinance 2022-33, extends bicycle rules to scooters and micromobility devices, and leaves a legal e-bike exactly where state law puts it.
What is not an e-bike here
A machine at or above 750 watts, or one without functioning pedals, falls outside § 316.003(23). The registration exemption does not reach it and neither does the city's scooter-chapter carve-out.
