Coral Springs is a planned grid, and its riding surface is the sidewalk and bike-path network rather than a rail trail. That is normally an awkward thing to say on a page like this, because in most Florida cities sidewalk riding is legally murky. Here it is written down.
The long landscaped arterials carry the network: Sample Road, Wiles Road, University Drive and Coral Ridge Drive, each with wide sidewalk and path running alongside. The state test is short. Section 316.003(23), retrieved 2026-08-25, asks for a saddle, working pedals and a motor under 750 watts, in one of three classes capped at 20 or 28 mph of assist.
Section 316.20655(2) then exempts the bike and rider from registration, title and insurance, and subsection (4) grants "all of the rights and duties applicable to the rider of a bicycle." Both sections came from two official hosts on the same day.
Sec. 18-5.3: fifteen on the sidewalk, five near people
Coral Springs rewrote its sidewalk section ten months before this page was first checked. Sec. 18-5.3, last amended by Ordinance 2025-111 on October 15, 2025, bans motor-driven vehicles from every sidewalk and bicycle path in the city, naming "mopeds and gopeds, whether gas, electric, battery or other means."
Then it carves the exception that covers an ordinary e-bike. Bicycles, micromobility devices and motorized scooters as defined by § 316.003 may use sidewalks and bike paths "provided that the foregoing do not exceed fifteen (15) miles per hour."
Subsection (c) adds the rule that matters most around people. Riders "shall yield and slow their speed to five (5) miles per hour when within twenty-five (25) feet of a pedestrian."
Florida's bicycle definition reaches electric bicycles, so the practical reading is simple: sidewalks yes, 15 mph ceiling, walking pace near anyone on foot. That is a rare thing to be able to say plainly on a Florida city page.
Where that leaves the dirt bikes on the local floor
Surron and Talaria style machines typically exceed 750 watts or lack operable pedals, which puts them outside § 316.003(23) and therefore outside Sec. 18-5.3's exception entirely.

The Florida sweep of 2026-08-25 checked all 63 cities above 50,000 residents against Census Vintage 2024 populations and read each candidate storefront's own website. Coral Springs returned two trading floors inside the line, one in the next city east, and a set of big-box listings.
Each trading address was run through the Census Bureau's geocoder on 2026-09-06. Two returned "Coral Springs city" and are counted. One returned "Coconut Creek city" and is listed uncounted.
Checked and not counted
- E-Tek Bikes, 6601 Lyons Road. A real floor, listed above under the nearby heading. Third-party listings carried a Coral Springs address for it as recently as May 2026; its own site and the geocoder both place it in Coconut Creek.
