How we verified this directory — Milad Ghobadibeygvand, BScN

The count begins with Georgia's 20 places of 50,000 or more in the Census Bureau's 2024 estimates. Candidates came from OpenStreetMap, eight makers' dealer maps, the City of Atlanta's rebate list, the shops' own store lists, AI engines' answers and 433 Google Maps searches: 208 storefronts after merging.

A store is listed when its own site, its chain's, a maker's dealer map or the city's rebate list shows it sells e-bikes and its Google Maps listing does not read closed. Vehicle dealers, rental-only businesses and closed stores stay out.

Verified October 11, 2026; due again April 2027.

Quick Answer

Georgia has 89 verified e-bike shops as of October 11, 2026, in 56 communities across 38 of its 159 counties. The Atlanta Region holds 44 of them and the City of Atlanta 17.

Georgia's e-bike needs working pedals and a motor "of not more than 750 watts" (§ 40-1-1(15.3)). The City of Atlanta's income-based rebate is spent at 12 listed storefronts; its 2026 window closed on September 22, with a spring 2027 round planned. If no counter is close, our commuter e-bikes ship free to Georgia. The Georgia e-bike law guide covers where you can ride.

Georgia's e-bike counters cluster where its people do. The ten counties of the Atlanta Region hold 44 of the 89 stores on this page and about 44% of the state's residents, while the coast from Savannah to St. Marys carries 9 and the 17 counties of the Heart of Georgia Altamaha region carry none (SUB-EST2024, Georgia).

Find yours by opening the region your county belongs to, then the town on your mailing address. Each listing gives you the street, a phone number where the sources agree on one, and the day the store was checked.

Georgia's eBike Map, City by City

You get a row below for each of Georgia's 20 places with 50,000 or more residents in the Census Bureau's 2024 estimates. Augusta, Athens, Columbus and Macon are consolidated city-county governments (Department of Community Affairs), and each row counts the place the Census files as the city, so Augusta's 201,737 leaves out Hephzibah and Blythe, and Athens's 128,691 leaves out Winterville and Bogart's part (SUB-EST2024, Georgia).

A dash under Verified stores means no verified store stands inside that place's own line, and the nearest one is measured further down. Open leads are bicycle businesses inside the place whose sites name no e-bike for sale, could not be read, or do not exist, so each is worth a phone call before you drive.

Fourteen of the 20 places have a store inside their own line, and 47 of the 89 stores stand outside all 20, in towns from Blue Ridge and Dahlonega in the mountains to Thomasville and Blackshear in the south. Georgia's suburbs are also largely unincorporated, so a store with a Marietta or Atlanta mailing address can sit in open county, and the table counts it only where the Census line puts it (Census Geocoder).

Bottom line If your city shows a dash, check its nearest store below before you assume you need to order online. All six big places without one have a verified store within 10.2 miles, and Valdosta's is 1.8 miles away in Remerton.

Georgia eBike Law — 2026 Quick Reference

Georgia defines the machine before it sets a single riding rule, and the motor line is the one a shop will quote you. As of October 11, 2026, an electric assisted bicycle is "a device with two or three wheels which has a saddle and fully operative pedals for human propulsion and also has an electric motor having a power output of not more than 750 watts" (§ 40-1-1(15.3), as written by HB 454).

The words "not more than" include 750, so a bike rated at exactly 750 watts fits the Georgia definition (§ 40-1-1(15.3)).

Rule What the code says Source
Motor Not more than 750 watts, two or three wheels, working pedals § 40-1-1(15.3)
Class 1 Motor only while you pedal, cuts out at 20 mph § 40-6-300(1)
Class 2 A motor that may move the bike alone and is "not capable of reaching a speed of 20 miles per hour" § 40-6-300(2)
Class 3 Motor only while you pedal, cuts out at 28 mph; a speedometer in mph § 40-6-300(3), § 40-6-302(d)
Your rights on the road Every right and every duty of a bicycle rider § 40-6-301
License, registration The motor-vehicle definition leaves the e-bike out § 40-1-1(33)
Sidewalks No, unless your city allows riders 12 and under § 40-6-144
Bike paths, Class 1 and 2 Allowed where bicycles are, unless the path's local authority or state agency bars them § 40-6-303(a)(1)
Bike paths, Class 3 Only beside a road, or where the authority over the path allows it § 40-6-303(a)(2)
Age, Class 3 15 to operate; a younger rider may ride as a passenger on a Class 3 designed to carry passengers § 40-6-303(b)
Helmets Every rider and passenger on a Class 3; every rider under 16 on any bicycle § 40-6-303(c)(1), § 40-6-296

Georgia writes its classes in Roman numerals, I, II and III, so search the code for "class III" when you want the Class 3 rules.

Read Class 2 closely: the code describes a motor that "may be used exclusively to propel the vehicle but is not capable of reaching a speed of 20 miles per hour" (§ 40-6-300(2)), so ask the shop how the bike in front of you meets that line before you buy it as a Class 2.

Our Georgia e-bike law guide takes the sidewalk ban, the three classes and the helmet rules section by section.

What the law asks of the shop

Every e-bike made on or after January 1, 2020, must carry "a permanently affixed label in a prominent location" naming its class, "the motor wattage and top assisted speed capability", printed "in at least 9 point Arial font" (§ 40-6-302(a)).

The duty falls on the manufacturer, the distributor and "any person who alters an electric assisted bicycle in a manner that changes the class" (§ 40-6-302(b)), so a shop that changes a bike's class owes it a new label.

The same section asks two things of the bike itself: the motor must disengage "when the operator stops pedaling or applies the brakes" (§ 40-6-302(c)), and a Class 3 needs a speedometer in miles per hour (§ 40-6-302(d)). If you rent a Class 3, the shop may not hand it over without a helmet unless you bring your own (§ 40-6-303(c)(2)).

Ask to see the label before you pay. If the class, the wattage or the top assisted speed is missing, the bike on the floor is not the one the code describes (§ 40-6-302(a)).

State parks, bike paths and your city's sidewalks

In Georgia's state parks, "Class 1 e-bikes are allowed on roadways and trails that also allow bicycles", the Department of Natural Resources says (Georgia State Parks). Outside the parks, a Class 1 or Class 2 may use any bike path or shared-use path open to bicycles unless the local authority or state agency over it says otherwise (§ 40-6-303(a)(1)); natural-surface trails are left to whoever manages them (§ 40-6-303(a)(3)).

Sidewalks are closed to you statewide: no person may drive "any vehicle upon a sidewalk", and a city or county may open its sidewalks only to riders "12 years of age or younger" (§ 40-6-144).

Atlanta's enforcement guide for its officers puts the stakes plainly: "Penalties for riding on the sidewalk include a fine up to $1,000 and jail time up to six months", which it calls "the default penalty for all municipal charges" (City of Atlanta, MOVE SMART guide, 2019).

Atlanta's e-bike rebate

The one public e-bike rebate this directory found in Georgia on October 11, 2026, is the City of Atlanta's. Its point-of-sale rebate, administered by the Atlanta Regional Commission with Propel ATL, pays $1,600, $1,100 or $550 by household income, and the 2026 application window "closed on Tuesday, September 22, 2026", with another round planned for spring 2027 (Atlanta Regional Commission).

The rebate can be spent only at a participating bike shop inside the City of Atlanta, on a new Class 1, 2 or 3 e-bike whose motor is "750 watts or less", and the program names its shops (Atlanta Regional Commission).

All 12 storefronts are listed on this page under the Atlanta Region: AC Clutch, Atlanta Cycling's Ansley store, Atlanta Pro Bikes, Edison Electric, ElectroBike Georgia with Atlanta Bike Barn, eStar Rides, Intown Bicycles, Loose Nuts Cycles, Outback Bikes on Moreland Avenue, Specialized Atlanta (the program's Incycle Marketplace) and The BELT Hub's two stores (Atlanta Regional Commission).

Before you pay, look at two things. The label: a bike made since January 1, 2020, must name its class, "the motor wattage and top assisted speed capability" on a permanent label (§ 40-6-302(a)). And the motor: if the rating is above 750 watts, the bike falls outside Georgia's e-bike definition (§ 40-1-1(15.3)).

E-Bike Shops in Georgia, Region by Region

You will find the listings grouped by the 12 regions the Georgia Department of Community Affairs lists by county, each named here for its regional commission, then by the town on each store's mailing address. The Atlanta Region, with 4,877,203 people in ten counties, comes first.

When a store's mailing address names a city whose line it stands outside, it is headed by the community it stands in or by its county: Conte's Bike Shop on North Druid Hills Road has an Atlanta address and is listed under North Druid Hills, and three Cobb County stores with Marietta addresses sit under the Marietta area heading for unincorporated Cobb County (Census Geocoder).

Buying online vs buying in a Georgia shop

In a shop you can ride the bike before you pay, have it fitted, and read the class label the code asks the maker to fix to the frame (§ 40-6-302(a)). If the shop changes the bike's class, by unlocking a higher assisted speed, the label duty becomes theirs (§ 40-6-302(b)), so ask for a new label with the work.

Online you see more models and every term in writing. Compare the return window, the warranty and the delivery charge, and check that the listing names a class and a motor of not more than 750 watts before you order.

Why buy from Redtail if no counter is close? Our shipping policy offers "free shipping on every electric bike within the contiguous United States", which takes in Georgia, our US support team answers your email before and after you buy, and Shop Pay is among the ways to pay at checkout (shipping policy).

Browse our commuter and city e-bikes or folding e-bikes, and hold each listing to Georgia's line: a class on the label and a motor of 750 watts or less.

Bottom line A shop lets you ride first and read the label on the frame; online, compare return windows and warranties, and buy only a bike that names its class and a motor of not more than 750 watts.

Frequently Asked Questions — Georgia eBike Shops

Where can you buy an e-bike in Georgia?

You can buy one at any of the 89 verified storefronts listed here, in 56 communities across 38 counties. Atlanta has 17, Savannah 4, and Athens, Roswell and Sandy Springs 3 each; the region listings give you each store's street, phone and check date. If none is near you, check the nearest-store table for your city.

Yes. If your bike has working pedals and a motor "of not more than 750 watts", Georgia treats it as an electric assisted bicycle (§ 40-1-1(15.3)), and you ride with "all the rights" and duties of a bicycle rider (§ 40-6-301). Keep off the sidewalk unless your city opens it to riders 12 and under (§ 40-6-144), and wear a helmet on a Class 3.

Do you need a license or registration for an e-bike in Georgia?

No. Georgia's definition of a motor vehicle leaves the electric assisted bicycle out (§ 40-1-1(33)), so the license and registration rules for motor vehicles do not reach you. Two rules do: you must be 15 to operate a Class 3, and every Class 3 rider and passenger wears a helmet (§ 40-6-303).

Where can you buy an electric bike in Atlanta?

The City of Atlanta has 17 verified stores, from ElectroBike Georgia on Sampson Street and Edison Electric on Hosea L Williams Drive to The BELT Hub in West Midtown and at Ponce City Market. Twenty-seven more stand in the Atlanta Region's other towns and unincorporated suburbs, among them Roswell, Sandy Springs and Alpharetta. If you hold an Atlanta rebate code, the 12 participating storefronts are all listed.

Where are the e-bike shops in Savannah?

Savannah has four verified stores: Perry Rubber Bike Shop on Bull Street, Quality Bike, Savannah on Wheels and the Trek Bicycle Store on Pennsylvania Avenue. Blackbeard Bikes is listed under Wilmington Island, just outside the city line, and Richmond Hill and St. Simons Island have one each along the coast (Coastal Georgia listings).

Where are the e-bike shops in Augusta, Columbus and Macon?

Augusta has two, Andy Jordan's Bicycle Warehouse and Outspokin Bicycles, with Chain Reaction Bicycles in Evans next door. Columbus has Arnold's Bike Shop and a Best Buy that stocks SWFT e-bikes, and Macon has Bike Tech on Second Street, with The Bike Store in Warner Robins (listings: Central Savannah River Area, River Valley, Middle Georgia).

Does Georgia have an e-bike rebate?

The one public e-bike rebate this directory found in Georgia is the City of Atlanta's: $1,600, $1,100 or $550 by household income, for city residents, spent at a participating shop. Its 2026 application window closed on September 22, 2026, and another round is planned for spring 2027 (Atlanta Regional Commission).

Can you ride an e-bike on Georgia trails?

On a bike path or shared-use path, you may ride a Class 1 or 2 wherever bicycles go unless the path's authority bars them, and a Class 3 only beside a road or where allowed (§ 40-6-303(a)). In state parks, "Class 1 e-bikes are allowed on roadways and trails that also allow bicycles" (Georgia State Parks).

The Bottom Line

Georgia's e-bike counters are spread over 56 communities, and fewer than half of them stand inside its big places: 42 of the 89 stores are in the 20 places of 50,000 or more, and 47 are in smaller towns and open county. Each of the six big places without a store has one within 10.2 miles (Census Geocoder).

Choose a shop if riding before you pay, having the bike fitted and keeping a mechanic nearby matter more to you than the widest choice.

Order online if your nearest counter is far, as it is across the Heart of Georgia Altamaha region, or the model you want is not on a nearby floor.

Ready to shortlist a bike? The buying guide lines up the three classes, the budget and UL battery certification, so you can narrow your choice before you call a Georgia shop or order online, and its picks ship free to Georgia.

Compare e-bikes in the buying guide

Wherever you buy, read the label on the frame and the motor rating before you pay (§ 40-6-302(a), § 40-1-1(15.3)), keep off the sidewalk, and put a helmet on anyone riding a Class 3.

Sources, limitations and how this page was verified

How the count was reached

Each storefront is counted once, and because no Georgia city has a directory page of its own yet, the statewide count and the listings you see here are the same number: 89 verified storefronts, all listed on this page.

OpenStreetMap returned 79 entries tagged as bicycle shops in Georgia; dropping three unnamed entries and one repeat leaves 75, and 42 of those list a website. Eight makers gave 101 storefront rows: the dealer locators of Velotric, Bosch, Aventon, Trek, Specialized and Giant, SWFT's seven Best Buy store pages, and Pedego's two Georgia dealers.

The City of Atlanta's e-bike rebate names 11 participating shops at 12 storefronts (Atlanta Regional Commission), and every one of the 12 is listed here.

A Google Maps search covered bike shops in all 148 cities and towns of 5,000 or more and all 159 counties, electric bike shops in the 46 places of 25,000 or more, and both in the 15 unincorporated communities of 10,000 or more and in 25 of Atlanta's ZIP areas: 433 searches and 746 distinct listings (Google Maps).

The 182 bicycle businesses among them that no other source carried were each read on their own Maps listing. Thirty-nine stood outside Georgia, 17 had closed, 47 returned a list, no street, a listing that is not a shop or a place already read, one could not be read, and 78 became leads.

Five of the 78 sell e-bikes in their own sites' words and appear on no other source, from AMP Electric Wheelz in Lawrenceville to Ultimate Life Bikes in Rising Fawn.

The websites behind the counted shops were then read for any other Georgia store they list, which gave Atlanta Trek's Peachtree City address to a store OpenStreetMap carried without one. With every source merged, the sweep holds 208 storefronts.

AI engines asked about Georgia e-bike shops named 31 storefronts, 23 of them listed here. Of the other businesses their answers named, a Pedego store in Atlanta has closed, two stores stand across the state line in Aiken and Phenix City, two are powersports dealers, and one Statesboro repair service could not be placed on a map.

How to read the listings

The grade at the end of each listing tells you what confirmed that the store sells e-bikes; there are four.

Site checked covers 44 of the 89: in October 2026 the shop's own website offered e-bikes in its own words.

Chain site checked covers 10: one website serves more than one storefront, so it shows that the business sells e-bikes and the listing shows which store you are visiting. Atlanta Cycling's site serves three of them, in Alpharetta, Atlanta and Roswell, and Atlanta Trek's three more, in McDonough, Newnan and Peachtree City.

City of Atlanta rebate list covers 3: Atlanta Pro Bikes, Loose Nuts Cycles and Specialized Atlanta, whose own sites name no e-bike for sale, are listed by the city as participating e-bike retailers. The program admits only shops that sell new Class 1, 2 or 3 e-bikes from a storefront in the city, so the grade shows the city vouches for the sale; it says nothing about hours or stock (Atlanta Regional Commission).

A maker's dealer map covers 32: a maker names the store as one of its e-bike dealers, and the grade takes you to that maker's locator, or for Bosch, Pedego and SWFT to the store's own page on it.

SWFT lists seven Best Buy stores as stocking its e-bikes, and they are seven of the 32. Of the other 25, 12 have sites that load without offering e-bikes for sale at that store in their own words, 10 have sites that could not be read, and 3 have no site of their own to read.

Bar chart of how the 89 listings were verified: site checked 44, chain site checked 10, City of Atlanta rebate list 3, a maker's dealer map 32

You get a phone number only when the shop's own site or store page and its Google Maps listing agree on it, or one of them settles a disagreement; otherwise the listing goes without one. Whatever the grade, call before you drive far.

Why the map is thin where it is thin

OpenStreetMap shows 38 of the 89 storefronts listed here, so a directory built from the map alone would leave out 51 of them. Forty of the 51 appear only on a maker's dealer map, 4 only on the City of Atlanta's list and 5 only in the Maps search; one more is on both a maker's map and the city's list, and one on a maker's map and in the Maps search.

Which shops have closed was settled on Google Maps and on the shops' own sites. Atlanta Cycling's Duluth store, Electric Coast on St. Simons Island and Peachtree Bikes on North Decatur Road are permanently closed, and Pedego Hartwell is temporarily closed; none is counted (Google Maps).

Beyond these, the statewide search turned up 14 bicycle businesses Google marks permanently closed, among them Pedego's stores in Atlanta, Lake Oconee and St. Simons and Decatur Bikes, and 4 more it marks temporarily closed; if an old listing online names one of them, you will not find it here.

Three of the 208 are not bicycle storefronts: a motorcycle and ATV dealer on a maker's map, a corporate business center and a public bike-repair stand. One more only rents bikes, and seven were listed twice under two names or two addresses.

Bottom line No single source made this list. The open map misses 51 of the 89 stores, a maker's map lists a motorcycle dealer, the city's rebate list vouches for three shops whose own sites never say e-bike, and the Maps search turns up closed shops and stores across the state line, so every store here was read on its own site, a maker's map or the city's list.

Limitations

  1. 104 candidates remain unresolved. Fifty-four sites load and never name an e-bike for sale, 34 businesses publish no website of their own, and 16 sites could not be read. None is treated as a shop that does not sell e-bikes; each is a lead worth your phone call.
  2. Named and not counted: 3 permanently closed storefronts, 1 temporarily closed, 7 listed twice, 3 businesses that are not bicycle storefronts and 1 that only rents bikes.
  3. Three stores are counted on the City of Atlanta's list, not their own sites. The list proves the city admits them as e-bike retailers under its rebate; it does not prove a given model is in stock.
  4. City lines are the Census Bureau's. A store counts toward a place in the table only if it stands inside that place's line, so Valdosta Bike Center, in Remerton, does not count toward Valdosta, and two stores outside every city line are headed by the census-designated community the Census Geocoder places them in, North Druid Hills and Wilmington Island.
  5. The law reference rests on three reads. HB 454, the 2019 act that wrote the classes, was read in its signed text on October 11, 2026. The codified sections were read in the 2025 Code of Georgia in August 2026, and §§ 40-6-300 to 40-6-302 in the 2024 edition's archived pages on October 11. The same day, the General Assembly's records of all 2,341 bills of the 2025-2026 session and the 2026 special session showed none amending these sections (Georgia General Assembly).
  6. The rebate runs in rounds. The 2026 window closed September 22, 2026, and the program's list of shops can change before the spring 2027 round.
  7. Demand evidence. The questions this page answers come from 1,367 Google and Bing autocomplete and related-search strings read on October 11, 2026, and 16 of those phrases put to AI engines, logged out, the same day: Google's own assistant answered all 16, Perplexity 9 and Brave's search summary 1, every answer saved raw. ChatGPT, Bing Copilot Search and Google's AI Mode did not answer this machine, and Google's results page served a captcha.
  8. This page states no search volumes; no paid keyword data was pulled.
  9. Redtail sells e-bikes online and has no business tie to any shop listed here. No listing is ranked, paid for or favored for the brands we carry.

When this page expires. It is re-checked if a listed shop closes, moves or stops selling e-bikes; if § 40-1-1, Part 1A of Article 13 or § 40-6-144 is amended; when the City of Atlanta opens its spring 2027 rebate round or changes its list of shops; and if Georgia State Parks change their e-bike rule. Otherwise it is due again in April 2027.

If you spot a change first, email sales@redtailebikes.com.
