Who the FT-01 Max is built for

Moped-style e-bikes stopped being a novelty about two years ago and became the fastest-growing shape in the category, and the reason is not styling. It is that a bench seat, a 20-inch fat tire and a battery the size of a fuel tank solve a problem drop-bar geometry never did: carrying a bigger rider comfortably, for a long way, without asking them to be an athlete.

Read that table next to the price and the shape of the thing is clear. The consumables are all there: fenders, lights, a horn, a basket rated to 60 lb, a chain guard. The suspension is real at both ends. The brakes are the good kind, at the good size, on both wheels, with a cutoff switch in the levers so the motor drops out the instant you touch them.

One chainring, no derailleur, a sealed hub motor. Fewer moving parts is fewer things to adjust.

The Eahora FT-01 Max battery: 1,440 watt-hours

This is the reason to buy this bike. Eahora publishes the pack as a "48V 30AH (1440 WH) lithium battery", removable, weighing 13.1 lb of the bike's 90.6.

Across Eahora's own twenty-five-model US catalog, only nine bikes carry more energy than this, and every one of them costs more. Against its own siblings it is the efficient buy: $1.25 per watt-hour, against $1.56 for the FT-01 and $1.47 for the DL2000. That is our calculation from published prices and published pack sizes.

The pack lives behind that panel and lifts out for charging. Thirteen of the bike's ninety pounds come with it.

Because it is removable, you can carry the battery to the charger rather than the bike to the outlet — the difference between a third-floor apartment being possible and impossible.

Real-world range: what to plan on

Plan on 43 miles pedaling and 28 on the throttle. Those are Eahora's own specification-table figures, and the arithmetic behind them is sound: 43 miles from 1,440 Wh is 33.5 watt-hours per mile, and 28 miles is 51.4 Wh per mile. Both are what you would expect from a 90.6 lb fat-tire bike, and the throttle figure in particular is more honest than this category usually manages.

Those published figures move with the things that always move range — cold weather, hills, rider weight, tire pressure and how much of the work the motor is doing. Plan around 43 and 28 and you will not be caught out.

For most riders the practical read is simpler: this is a bike you charge twice a week, not every night. A 12-mile round-trip commute is three days of riding on one charge.

Charging: this is an overnight bike

Eahora specifies a "48V ~ 3A smart charger", which is 144 watts into a 1,440 Wh pack: 10.0 hours at perfect efficiency.

We can do better than the theoretical figure, because Eahora publishes a matched pair to calibrate against. The FT-01 pairs a 960 Wh pack with a 54.6 V, 3 A charger and publishes a real charge time of "6-7H" — so their own numbers put a real charge at 1.02 to 1.19 times the theoretical.

Applied to this pack, a full charge lands between 10 hours 15 minutes and about 12 hours. That is our calculation from Eahora's published figures.

Practically: plug it in when you get home and it is ready in the morning. If you need a faster turnaround, Eahora sells a quicker charger in its own parts catalog — worth adding at the time of order rather than later.

Brakes, lights and the horn

The control hardware on this bike is better than the price suggests, and it is the part worth saying without qualification.

Hydraulic disc brakes on 180 mm rotors at both ends, rather than the common 180-front, 160-rear compromise. Levers with a motor cutoff switch, so touching either one kills power before the pads bite. On a 90.6 lb bike with a throttle, that switch matters more than it does on anything lighter.

Then the visibility package: a 12 W LED headlight wired to the main battery rather than a coin cell, a tail light with a brake signal so drivers behind you see you slow, and an electric horn built into the headlight. Most e-bikes in this class leave the horn out entirely.

Add fenders as standard, a bottom basket rated to 60 lb, and IP65 on the motor, battery, display and wiring, and the practical build is complete.

Fit: who this frame suits

Eahora recommends 5'5" to 6'3", and the seat is a fixed bench at 33.5 inches — the specification table lists "Seatpost: None."

If you are inside that window this is a comfortable, upright, motorcycle-style riding position that a lot of riders prefer to a bicycle saddle. To Eahora's credit, the nine-measurement geometry table on the product page is complete enough to check the fit yourself: total length 68.1", wheelbase 45.3", standover 27.2", reach 19.7", bike width 29.5". Very few brands at this price publish standover and reach at all.

Carrying capacity: 330 lb rider

Eahora publishes a 330 lb rider limit, which is a genuinely generous number in this category and one of the real reasons this bike sells. The FT-01 beside it publishes 265 lb.

The bottom basket is separately rated to 60 lb, so treat 330 lb as the rider figure and the basket as its own allowance rather than headroom on top.

For a heavier rider who has been priced out of bikes rated to 265 lb, this plus the 1,440 Wh pack is most of the case for the bike.

Warranty, spare parts and support

Eahora's warranty is one year from purchase, with free replacement parts shipped to the continental US on an approved claim.

The stronger half of the ownership case is the parts catalog, and it is unusual enough to say clearly: the complete FT-01 drivetrain is buyable as spare parts, published with prices. The battery pack is $549.99, the motor $329.00, the controller $139.00, the charger $94.00, the hydraulic brake kit $139.00, the kickstand $42.99, the rear light $55.00.

Most direct-to-consumer brands at this price publish nothing of the sort. A bike whose every major component has a part number and a price is a bike you can still be riding in five years, and it is worth budgeting the battery replacement around year four or five.

No recall was located. We queried the Consumer Product Safety Commission's recall database through its API on August 21, 2026, across four fields and three spellings of the brand name, and every query returned zero rows.

FT-01 vs FT-01 Max vs DL2000: which one fits you

Choose the FT-01 if $1,499 is the number and you are under 265 lb. It publishes the most detail of the three — cells, cycle life, charge time — and its 95 N·m is the strongest pull in the family.

Choose the FT-01 Max if range or rider weight is what you are buying. Fifty percent more battery for twenty percent more money, and 330 lb instead of 265.

Choose the DL2000 if you want two-wheel drive and do not need pedal assist — Eahora publishes its PAS levels as "None." At 164.2 lb it is a different kind of machine, best suited to private land and off-road use.
