What you get with the SF20H

It folds, and the fold is the point
6061 aluminum, folded tool-free at the frame hinge, which carries a dual lock. VTUVIA puts the fold at about ten seconds. That is a bike that lives in an apartment or an RV rather than in a garage you do not have.

A rack built for a passenger, not just a pannier
The rear rack is welded to the frame rather than bolted to the seatpost, and VTUVIA rates the SF20H to 330 lb with rider and cargo together. A rear foot peg comes fitted, and the current batch ships the leather rear cushion rather than the wood panel some photos still show. If you carry a child, VTUVIA lists a rack-mounted child seat kit for it.

Certified to both UL standards, battery and system
VTUVIA publishes UL 2271 on the battery and UL 2849 on the complete e-bike system — the pack and the electrics around it, not just the cell. On the same page VTUVIA notes: “due to UL certification requirements, the default maximum speed is set to 20 MPH, which can be adjusted according to user preferences.” If a certified battery is on your list, this is one of five VTUVIA models that publish both marks.

Hydraulic brakes on 4-inch tires, and an IP67 rating
Dual LOGAN hydraulic discs on 180 mm rotors, 20 × 4.0-inch tires, and a suspension fork. VTUVIA states the bike is “built to the IP67-rated standard, making it suitable for riding through creeks, mud, and snow”, while advising against prolonged immersion and pressure washers. You can ride it through a creek crossing; you should not pressure-wash it afterwards.
Why buy the SF20H from Redtail
$1,399, against VTUVIA's own $1,599
VTUVIA lists the SF20H at $1,599. It is $1,399 here, a $200 difference, and the price was read from VTUVIA on September 19, 2026.

Warranty and damage claims
VTUVIA writes its warranty for bikes bought from its own website and sends a retailer purchase back to the retailer for after-sales service — that retailer is us. Power, charging and component faults are covered under the manufacturer warranty where it applies, and our US support desk coordinates the repair or replacement remotely, so you are not the one writing to a factory.
If it arrives damaged, note it with the carrier and send us photos within 48 hours: we file the claim with the carrier and arrange a replacement or repair.
US support, before and after
Call (213) 444-4020 or email us and a person in the United States answers, before you order and after it arrives.
Who the SF20H folding fat tire ebike is for
Get the SF20H if the bike has to disappear into a car trunk or an RV bay between rides, and still carry a passenger, a child seat or a week of groceries when it comes back out.
Two things to check before you order
- Your height. VTUVIA sizes the SF20H for riders from 5'3" to 6'2", with a 28–34 inch inseam and a 16-inch standover. Shorter than that and the SX20 starts at 5'0".
- Where it will live. Folded it is a 60 lb lift into an SUV trunk — a two-handed one, not a one-handed one.

How the SF20H compares with what else we sell
Against the folding bikes we stock, the SF20H is the one that carries a passenger: the Velotric Fold 1 Plus is $100 more and lighter to lift, the Addmotor Foldtan M-160 is $200 more with a bigger claimed range, and the Samebike LO26 Plus is $400 less if the fold matters more than the rack.

Riding the SF20H legally
Federal law defines a low-speed electric bicycle at 15 U.S.C. § 2085(b): a "low-speed electric bicycle" is a two- or three-wheeled vehicle with fully operable pedals, a motor of less than 750 watts, and a maximum motor-powered speed on a paved level surface of less than 20 miles per hour when ridden by an operator weighing 170 pounds.
The SF20H's published figures are 750 W and a Class 2, 20 mph cap.
On its own page VTUVIA writes: “It is UL2849 certified for safety, and due to UL certification requirements, the default maximum speed is set to 20 MPH, which can be adjusted according to user preferences.” “The SF20H has a factory-limited top speed of 20 mph, but it can reach up to 28 mph under full power.”
As shipped it is a 20 mph bike. Ridden faster than 20 mph on motor power alone it is outside the federal low-speed definition and outside Class 2 in the states that use the class system, so check your state's line before you change that setting.
States then set their own rules on top of that, and most use a three-class system that decides where you can ride, whether a helmet is required and whether there is a minimum age. Our state-by-state guide sets out what each one says.
Frequently asked questions
What motor does the SF20H have?
A 48 V, 750 W rear brushless hub, which VTUVIA rates to a 1,200 W peak and 85 N·m of torque.
What is the top speed of the SF20H?
VTUVIA rates the SF20H Class 2, which caps motor assistance at 20 mph. VTUVIA adds that the 20 mph default is set by its UL certification and “can be adjusted according to user preferences”. VTUVIA's FAQ for the SF20H adds: “The SF20H has a factory-limited top speed of 20 mph, but it can reach up to 28 mph under full power.” Above 20 mph on motor power it is outside the federal low-speed definition.
How far can the SF20H go on one charge?
VTUVIA's rating is up to 70 miles on pedal assist and 40 miles on the throttle alone, from the 48 V 14 Ah LG pack — 672 Wh. Range moves with rider weight, assist level, terrain and weather.
Does the SF20H fold?
Yes. VTUVIA puts it at about ten seconds, tool-free, at a dual-lock hinge in the frame.
Is the SF20H any good for carrying groceries or packages?
That is what the rack is for. VTUVIA rates the welded rear rack and the bike together to 330 lb including the rider, and fits a rear foot peg for a passenger. A child seat kit and a front basket are sold for it.
Can I take the SF20H on an RV trip?
It is the reason the bike folds. Folded it is a 60 lb package, VTUVIA photographs it in a hatchback, and its own rider stories are mostly RV and trail riders.
Does the SF20H have a torque sensor or a cadence sensor?
A cadence sensor. If you want the throttle-free feel of a torque sensor in a VTUVIA folder, the SX20 has one for $200 more.
Does the SF20H have UL 2849 certification?
Yes — VTUVIA publishes UL 2271 for the battery and UL 2849 for the e-bike system.
Is the SF20H a fat tire electric bike?
Yes, 20 × 4.0-inch. Four inches is the width that makes sand, gravel and snow rideable, and it is why the folded package is wider than a commuter folder's.
Is the SF20H suitable for seniors?
The step-over height is 16 inches, which is the lowest in VTUVIA's folding range, and the brakes are hydraulic. At 60 lb it is not a light bike to lift; for a three-wheeled alternative with a reverse gear, see the E-Cozy.
Do I need a license to ride the SF20H?
VTUVIA rates it Class 2 at 20 mph, inside the federal definition's speed limb.
