The boulevard is the trap. West Sunrise Boulevard runs through Fort Lauderdale, not through Sunrise, and search engines read the street name as the city name. This shop is worth knowing about and is covered in full on the Fort Lauderdale page; it is simply not in this city.

Trail Access — Markham Park and the Class I Rule

Markham Park is inside Sunrise, it holds the county's mountain bike trail system at the Everglades edge, and its rules decide which electric bike is worth buying if you intend to ride there.

Broward County's own Mountain Bike Trail Rules page states the class rule directly, at rule 7: "Only Mountain bikes are permitted on the Mountain Bike Trails. Class I eMTB pedal-assist bikes are permitted. Class II and Class III eBikes, Hybrids, non-specific mountain bikes, bike trailers, tag-alongs, and child seats are prohibited on the Mountain Bike Trails."

Rule 8 closes the other door by name: "no pedestrians, pets, horses, motorized bikes, surrons, or ATVs are permitted."

Read those two together before you spend anything. A throttle bike is a Class II machine, and a Class II machine is prohibited here whatever it costs and however well it climbs. If Markham's berms are the reason you are shopping, a Class 1 pedal-assist is the only electric bike that gets through the gate.

Markham Park's rules reach them separately and by name, which is unusual: rule 8 lists "surrons" alongside ATVs among the machines barred from the trails entirely.
