Cadence Cyclery is real and, by every appearance, good. It is not in Lewisville. Its own website says it serves "McKinney and Flower Mound, TX, and Encinitas, CA," and the word "Lewisville" appears on it zero times. Its own store page gives the address as 2501 Lakeside Parkway Suite 180, Flower Mound, TX 75022, phone (972) 219-2453.

Different street, different suite, different ZIP, different city.

This is a failure mode we had not logged before. It is not an invented shop like Killeen's, not a closed one still being recommended, and not a same-named city in another state as in Pasadena or Mesquite.

It is a trading business handed location data it does not publish about itself — which is worse for the shop than for the reader. The reader merely drives to the wrong place; the shop never learns why nobody arrives.

If Cadence is where you want to go, go to Lakeside Parkway in Flower Mound. It is a short drive from most of Lewisville, and the hours are on their page.

Can I ride an e-bike at LLELA?

No. This is the second city in this sweep where that is the honest answer, and the rule is unambiguous.

Lewisville Code § 10-128, adopted by Ordinance 0207-20-ORD on April 20, 2020:

(c) LLELA trails are for hikers only. No bicycles, scooters, horses or motorized vehicles are permitted on the trails, except for a personal mobility device which is operated on designated trails, pathways or areas.

Note the word bicycles in that rule, sitting alongside motorized vehicles. This is not a rule about motors. It is a rule about wheels.

The same section is worth reading before any visit for other reasons: fishing bows and nets other than landing nets are barred, domestic animals are excluded unless the animal is an official service animal, and every visitor must check in at the entry booth.

Why state law doesn't open it

You might reasonably expect § 551.106 to override this, because on most pages in this sweep it does. It does not here, and the reason is one clause.

The statute stops a local authority prohibiting an electric bicycle "in an area in which the operation of a nonelectric bicycle is permitted." It protects e-bikes from being singled out. It does not create a right to ride where no bicycle may ride.

At LLELA, ordinary bicycles are barred on identical terms. There is no discrimination for the preemption to bite on. Midland's I-20 Wildlife Preserve is the sweep's only other example, and it works exactly the same way.

Two things you will find if you search the code yourself

The first is a definition that looks like a problem and is not. Lewisville's traffic chapter defines a bicycle as "every device propelled by human power … having two tandem wheels either of which is over 20 inches in diameter." That is 1960s wording, and a compliant Class 1–3 e-bike is a bicycle statewide under § 551.106 regardless. We have found the same stale phrasing in Pasadena and Killeen.

The second is an article about skateboards, roller skates, roller blades and scooters. It requires yielding to pedestrians on sidewalks, parking lots and streets, bars attaching yourself to a vehicle, bars riding in the business district, and requires permission on private property — and tells those riders to operate "consistent with the rules of a road established for bicycles." It governs those devices. It does not govern your e-bike.
