That is 2 floors verified on their operators' own sites with one corroborated by a manufacturer's dealer roster, 1 storefront whose brand's own dealer page no longer resolves, 1 shop of the same brand and city name traced to Colorado, 1 lead the directories cannot agree the category of, 1 golf-cart dealer screened out by measurement, and 4 Walmart shelves tracked and never counted.

The rules came from Frisco's code on eCode360, the city's designated publisher, current through Ordinance No. 2026-04-33 of April 7, 2026. A scope note, up front: this is a chapter-scoped read of Traffic and Vehicles and Parks and Recreation, not the whole-code pull we run where a publisher allows it. The two floors Frisco actually has

Our 75-city sweep had Frisco at zero. For a city of 235,208 that was never plausible, and a second pass found two floors inside ten minutes. Both of them are hard to find for reasons that have nothing to do with the shops themselves.

The store the chain calls Prosper

16702 Hollyhock Rd, Frisco, TX 75033, (469) 960-2453. Electra — a Trek brand — lists it as a Preferred Retailer under the name "Bike Mart Frisco - Hollyhock," with Townie Go! and Ponto Go! among its offerings. Those are Electra's electric models, so the e-bike claim is the manufacturer's rather than ours. Published hours are Sunday 12–5, Monday to Friday 10–7, Saturday 9–5. Seven days.

Now the oddity. Bike Mart's own store locator publishes that exact address — 16702 Hollyhock Rd, Frisco, TX, 75033 — under the store name "Prosper - Hollyhock." Across the whole locator page the word "Frisco" appears once, and only inside that address. The chain has no store named for Frisco at all.

So the manufacturer calls it a Frisco store and the operator calls it a Prosper store, and they mean the same door. If you have been searching "bike shop Frisco" and finding nothing, that gap is a large part of why.

The bike shop the search box cannot spell

6699 Main St, Frisco, TX 75034, 469.388.1190. Its own site says plainly: "ENDUR3 IS PROUD TO BE FRISCO'S PREMIER TREK BIKES DEALER." It carries BMC and Quintana Roo alongside road, tri and gravel bikes, and lists services, repairs, fitting and online booking. Hours are Monday to Friday 11–6:30, Saturday 12–6, closed Sunday.

Then there is the name. Probed live, the suggest root endur3 returned ten completions out of ten beginning "enduro" — enduro 3, enduro bike, enduro mountain bike, enduro bearings. Not one was the shop's actual name. A business whose brand the search box autocorrects into a different word starts every query at a disadvantage that no amount of SEO repairs.

A near-miss we are reporting against ourselves

Our first probe looked for endur3bikes.com rather than the address that works. It fails DNS from two independent routes, and we came within a whisker of logging a trading shop as a dead domain.

The site is at endur3bikes.co. The .com address survives only in the email the shop publishes on its own page, info@endur3bikes.com — which means that email may well bounce. Call the number instead. We are including this because it is precisely the failure the answer engines make, and it would have been easy to hide.

Is Pedego Frisco still open?

Not on the brand's own surfaces. Checked August 26, 2026, pedegoelectricbikes.com/dealers/frisco/ does not resolve to a store — it redirects to the generic find-a-dealer page, on which the word "Frisco" appears zero times. The Yelp listing for the same address is titled "PEDEGO ELECTRIC BIKES FRISCO - CLOSED," at 7651 Main St.

We are not calling it closed as a bare fact. We are telling you what each surface shows, and that a brand's dealer page vanishing is the strongest signal short of a public record.

What matters is what an answer engine told us on the same afternoon. Asked where to buy an e-bike in Frisco, it led with that store, in the present tense, and called it "the region's foremost electric bike expert." Neither shop that is actually open was mentioned at all.

This is the second city in a row in this sweep where the top recommendation is a store that isn't there — the same thing happened to an e-bike retailer that opened to local headlines in another Texas city we checked this month.

The mechanism is not hallucination and it is worth understanding: an opening generates news stories and directory entries, and a quiet closure generates neither. The answer layer keeps reading the record of the opening because nothing was ever written to replace it.

And the one in Colorado

There is a second Pedego Electric Bikes Frisco, at 751 10 Mile Dr in Frisco, Colorado — a mountain town with no closure flag on its listing.

The demand shows the collision clearly. Frisco, Texas roots return electric bikes frisco co, electric bike rental frisco co, bike shop frisco co and bike shop frisco colorado — four separate completions handing a Texas searcher a Colorado ski town. Frisco, Colorado owns the e-bike half of the name, and Frisco, Texas is nine times its size.

What has Frisco actually legislated?

Three separate live search terms ask this — frisco texas e bike laws, frisco electric bike laws and frisco tx driving an e bike — against a city code most residents have never opened. Unusual: most cities in this sweep generate no local legal demand at all. Frisco does, and the reason turns out to be that Frisco has written a lot of law about things that look like your e-bike and are not.

Start with what governs you. Section 664.001 makes a compliant electric bicycle — operable pedals, motor of 750 watts or less, one of three classes — a bicycle in Texas, and §§ 551.106–.107 give it a bicycle's rights and duties with no license, registration or insurance.

Now the four local regimes, each of which excludes you.

The scooter article, and a rule worth knowing anyway

Sections 90-60 to 90-62 regulate motor-assisted scooters and pocket bikes, adopting the state definitions. A child under 18 may not ride a motor-assisted scooter on any public way except paths and trails set aside exclusively for bicycles; an adult or licensed minor may not ride one on any path, trail, walkway, alley, sidewalk or park facility except those same paths. Mini-motorbikes and pocket bikes are barred from public property outright, at every age.

None of it reaches an electric bicycle, and the code says so itself: § 90-60's pocket-bike definition expressly excludes "a moped, motorcycle, electric bicycle, motor-driven cycle, motorized mobility device, electric personal assistive mobility device or a neighborhood electric vehicle."

One provision deserves reading even though it does not bind you, because nobody has written about it. Section 90-62 requires a helmet for any child or licensed minor on a motor-assisted scooter, makes it an offense for a parent to permit otherwise, and sets a Class C misdemeanor fined up to $50 first time and $100 after.

Then it adds this: the municipal court shall dismiss a first offense on proof that the defendant bought a helmet within ten days of the citation. A ticket that turns into a helmet is a good piece of drafting.

The shared-mobility moratorium, and why it is not about you

This is the one that will frighten a resident who searches the code, so here it is in full.

Section 90-300, adopted by Ordinance 18-12-72 on December 18, 2018, defines an "electric bicycle or tricycle" as a device that is designed to be propelled by an electric motor, "cannot attain a speed of more than twenty (20) miles per hour without the application of human power," and "does not exceed a weight of one hundred (100) pounds."

Read that twice. It is a different definition of the same phrase from the one state law uses — 750 watts there, a speed and a weight here. Most ordinary e-bikes sit well under 100 pounds, but plenty of cargo models run close to that line.

Then §§ 90-301 and 90-302 impose "an immediate, temporary moratorium on shared mobility services," make it unlawful for an operator to park or place such a device on public property, and authorize the city to impound one, notify the owner, charge $50 per device, and dispose of it after thirty days by auction, sealed bid, donation or destruction.

The word doing the work in § 90-300 is operator. The article defines a "shared mobility service" as a service that displays, offers or places devices for rent on public property, and it applies to businesses that began operating on or after December 1, 2018. Leaving your own bike outside a coffee shop is not a shared mobility service. Your commute is not covered.

What is genuinely notable is the date. A moratorium adopted as temporary in December 2018, to run "until the date the city council adopts a new ordinance governing shared mobility services," is still sitting in a code current through April 2026. Seven and a half years is a long temporary.

Can I ride an e-bike on Frisco's trails?

Yes, and the parks chapter is friendlier than its reputation.

Chapter 58 defines "recreational riding devices" broadly — "bicycles, scooters, razors, skateboards, skates, rollerblades, inline skates, or any recreational products" — and then restricts them by surface rather than by place: prohibited "in playgrounds, flowerbeds, pedestrian-only sidewalks, tennis courts, athletic courts, picnic pavilions, stairs, guard and hand rails, benches, picnic tables, elevated surfaces, painted concrete, laminated surfaces."

A skateboard-nuisance rule, in other words. It is not a trail ban, and hike-and-bike trails appear inside the chapter's own definition of a park.

The measurement backs it up. Across 79,788 characters, chapter 58 contains "electric bicycle" zero times, "e-bike" zero, "motor-assisted" zero and "helmet" zero, against controls of "bicycle" 4, "bike" 7, "vehicle" 11 and "trail" 9. There is no e-bike trail rule in Frisco's parks chapter because there is no e-bike rule in it at all.

So § 551.106(a) governs: a local authority may not prohibit an e-bike anywhere an ordinary bicycle is permitted, with one carve-out for a path closed to motor vehicles whose tread is graded native soil. Frisco's paved trail network is not that. Its natural-surface mountain-bike singletrack could be, so check posted signage before you ride dirt.

What the search results get wrong

1. A closed store, recommended in the present tense. Covered above, and the second consecutive city it has happened in.
2. Neither open shop was named. Not the Electra Preferred Retailer on Hollyhock rather than the self-described premier Trek dealer on Main Street.
3. Four completions point at Colorado. A Texas searcher gets a ski town's rental scene.
4. The ZIP-pinned prompt beat the natural one, again. Asking with 75033 or 75034 in the query returned real Frisco addresses; asking in plain English returned the closed store. The same pattern held in Pasadena.
5. Two candidates dissolved on inspection. Lakeside Buggies is a golf-cart dealer — 18,402 characters of home page, "golf cart" 36 times, "e-bike" and "electric bike" zero. And Cycle Concepts on Preston Rd is filed by Yelp under motorcycle dealers and by YellowPages under bicycle shops; with no site of its own we hold it as a call-first lead and make no claim either way.

It is a city whose bike shops are invisible to search for reasons that have nothing to do with how good they are: one is filed under a neighbouring town by its own chain, the other has a name the search box refuses to spell, and the store that answer engines still recommend has been gone long enough for its brand to delete the page.

Go to 16702 Hollyhock Rd or 6699 Main St. Call before you drive, because one closes Sundays and the other publishes an email on a domain that no longer resolves. And if you were worried by a 2018 ordinance about impounding electric bicycles — that one is aimed at rental companies rather than at you.
