Velotric's dealer roster lists this address for sales, test rides and service, then adds "Confirm With Store". Bosch, which makes e-bike motors, carries it in its eBike dealer search. Those two maker listings are the evidence this page counts.

What the shop publishes itself is thinner. Its online catalog of 12 items carries no electric model, and Giant's store locator lists it without Giant's E-Bikes attribute. So the call matters more here than anywhere on this page: ask which electric models are on the floor today and whether a test ride needs booking.

It sits on Bonita Avenue, 2.9 straight-line miles from the city's center point, and it is the only Pomona address on the seven makers' dealer rosters this directory reads.

Velotric's roster tags this address for rental as well as sales, so it is a place within six miles to ride an e-bike for a day before you buy one.

Past six miles, and one listing to ignore

Three more e-bike sellers sit between six and eight miles out. Roy's Cyclery in Upland, 6.9 miles, says it "now carries Super73 lifestyle E-Bikes"; Covina Valley Cyclery, 7.6 miles, and Bicycle Central in Glendora, 7.7 miles, are both on Bosch's and Aventon's rosters.

Jax Bicycle Center in Claremont is still listed on Superpages' Pomona page and on the state's archived rebate roster, 3.6 miles from central Pomona. Jax's own list of locations no longer includes Claremont, so it is not counted here.

Metro, Foothill Transit and Metrolink — eBikes on Trains and Buses

Pomona has a Metro A Line station, Foothill Transit buses and Metrolink trains, and each operator treats an e-bike differently. The weight of your bike decides the Metro bus rack, the size decides the train, and the battery decides Metrolink.

The A Line reached Pomona on September 19, 2025. The Foothill Gold Line construction authority records that "On September 19, 2025, Metro began passenger service on the Glendora to Pomona segment, which includes the Pomona Station". It puts the trip at about 34 minutes to Pasadena and about 64 to downtown Los Angeles, from a station west of Garey Avenue, northeast of the Pomona North Metrolink station.

Metro trains take e-bikes of normal size. Metro's own rule: "Electric bicycles are allowed if they are the size of a regular bike and are subject to safety inspection by security personnel." The same page turns away "Fuel powered, 3-wheeled, tandem, recumbent and over 6-foot long bicycles, as well as all mopeds and trailers", and bikes are not allowed on escalators.

Metro bus racks stop at 55 pounds. Metro: "Motorized bicycles or any bicycle over 55 pounds cannot be accommodated on Metro bus bike racks." Weigh your bike before you plan a bus-and-bike trip on a Metro line; if it is heavier, take the A Line instead.

Foothill Transit puts battery bikes on the rack. Its rider rules: "Full-sized, non-folding bicycles must be stowed in the bicycle rack at the front of the bus. Battery powered bicycles must also be placed on the bike rack." The page publishes no weight limit for the rack. Its own rider alerts name Lines 195, 292 and 480 running through Pomona.

Metrolink wants a sealed factory battery, powered off. Metrolink allows e-bikes that "Have pedals and a straddle seat", "Have a manufacturer-installed sealed battery", are "powered off while onboard" and are not charged on board. The limits are 32 inches wide, 58 inches long and a 2.6-inch tire, so a 4-inch fat tire does not qualify.

The same Metrolink page carries a January 2026 note that "10 of our bike cars are temporarily out of service, undergoing scheduled overhauls, which means that not every train set can include a bike car." Plan for a train without one.

The number that catches an e-bike first is Metro's 55 pounds on the bus rack.

Trail Access — Pomona's Parks, Bonelli Park and the San Gabriels

Inside Pomona, the park rule is the one you will meet first: your bike, electric or not, stays on the roads and drives inside a public park. Outside the city, the county and the Forest Service each set their own lines, and the county's is stricter than a rider might expect.

Pomona's parks and skate parks

Section 38-73 lists acts that are a misdemeanor when done willfully in any public park, and item 6 is "riding or driving any bicycle or any other vehicle whatsoever elsewhere than on the roads or drives provided for such purpose." Grass, footpaths and picnic areas are off limits to every cycle.

Section 58-633 bans "Use of bicycles or motorized vehicles within designated skate park areas" at every city skate park. A violation brings a ban from the skate parks "for a minimum of 30 days" and is an infraction.

What a misdemeanor costs is set by section 1-7: a fine up to the Penal Code § 19 limit, up to six months in jail, or both. The same section lets a prosecutor charge it as an infraction instead, with a fine of up to $100 for a first offense, and a charge against a rider under 18 given a notice to appear is deemed an infraction.

Bonelli Park and the county's trails

Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park is the county park around Puddingstone Reservoir, and its trail is tagged for hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking on the county's trails site. The county's written answer on that page, under a rider's question posted five years ago, is plain:

E-bikes are not permitted on the County's multi-use trails based on the current County Code which is acknowledged as a local decision for recreational trails (different from Class I Bikeways) under AB1096. E-bikes are allowed on the County's paved bike paths and bikeways with the exception of the beach bike path which is restricted by ordinance.

The code behind that answer is older than e-bikes. Section 17.04.1170, from 1971, bars any "motor vehicle" from "any riding or hiking trail", and section 17.04.110 defines one as a vehicle "propelled by a motor engine", in wording last amended in 1975.

State law now says "An electric bicycle is a bicycle" (Vehicle Code § 231, since 2022), and § 21207.5(b) lets a public agency bar e-bikes from a hiking or recreational trail "by ordinance". Neither county section mentions an electric bicycle, and the county reads them as reaching one. At Bonelli, keep your e-bike on the paved paths and leave the dirt trails to regular bikes.

The San Gabriel Mountains

The range on this page's cover rises north of the city, and its highest summit, Mount San Antonio, is "the highest point in Los Angeles County" at 10,064 feet, according to the Forest Service's page for the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument.

The same page places the monument "almost entirely inside the Angeles National Forest", and on national forest land an e-bike rides only where the Motor Vehicle Use Map opens a route to it. Our guide to e-bike rules on public land explains how to read that map.

California eBike Laws — What Makes an eBike Legal in Pomona

California law decides what your e-bike is and who may ride it; Pomona's code adds rules about where, and bans one thing outright: shared rental scooters and bikes. The Pomona Police Department has also given the City Council its own count of e-bike crashes, which is worth knowing before you ride with a teenager.

The state floor

Vehicle Code § 312.5 defines an electric bicycle as "a bicycle equipped with fully operable pedals and an electric motor that does not exceed 750 watts of power." A Class 1 assists only while you pedal and stops at 20 mph, a Class 2 has a throttle and also stops at 20 mph, and a Class 3 assists while you pedal to 28 mph and carries a speedometer.

§ 21213 sets the Class 3 line: "A person under 16 years of age shall not operate a class 3 electric bicycle," and every Class 3 rider and passenger wears a helmet. On Class 1 and Class 2, § 21212 requires a helmet for anyone under 18.

The Pomona Police Department's own report to the council puts the paperwork plainly: an e-bike is "Not a motor vehicle; therefore, no insurance, license, or registration is required."

Pomona bans shared rental scooters and bikes

Section 30-783, adopted in 2019, makes it "unlawful to provide, place, or offer for use shared dockless micro-mobility devices, or to operate a shared dockless micro-mobility device in any street or public right-of-way or other public place within the city." City staff may impound the devices.

The ban covers devices you unlock by app or code from an operator that keeps them for shared use, as section 30-782 defines them. An e-bike you own is not one; the ban is aimed at rental fleets.

The same article defines an electric bicycle with a motor "of less than 750 watts", where state law says "does not exceed". That definition applies only "when used in this article", the shared-device article, so the state's 750-watt line is the one that classifies your bike.

What the police told the council

On July 20, 2026, the council's consent calendar carried a Police Department report on e-bikes and other micromobility devices, item 7 on that agenda and file 26-1517 in the city's legislative record. It counted 26 e-bike collisions from January 1, 2023, to June 18, 2026, 24 with injury and one death, against 42 collisions involving micromobility devices, 40 with injury and two deaths.

Micromobility in the report means motorized scooters and motorized boards, counted apart from e-bikes.

The report recommends that the council "receive and file" it, which adopts no new rule, and it proposes an education campaign with the Pomona Unified School District covering "e-bike classifications, micromobility devices, helmet requirements, safe sidewalk use, pedestrian right-of-way, and consequences for unsafe riding." It gives its reason in one line: "The City's primary concern is public safety, especially for juvenile riders, motorists, and pedestrians."

What is not an e-bike here

A machine with no pedals, or a motor over 750 watts, is not an electric bicycle under § 312.5, whatever its box says. Pomona's own code defines a "motorized bicycle or moped" separately: a two- or three-wheeler with pedals, or with none if it runs solely on electricity, under four gross brake horsepower and no faster than 30 mph on level ground (§ 30-782).

A stand-up electric scooter is a "motorized scooter" with a floorboard, in the same section. The police report adds that motorized scooters and boards are capped at 15 mph and that pocket bikes "should only operate on private property."

Where to Ride Your eBike in Pomona

Ride the street and the bike lane on any class, stay on the roads inside city parks, and keep out of skate parks. Sidewalks are legal where no rule closes them, and Pomona's code has none for bicycles, so ride one at walking pace and yield.

Sidewalks

A full-text search of Pomona's code, Supplement 31, finds the word bicycle in five places on September 26, 2026, and none of them is a sidewalk rule. The sidewalk rules in sections 58-607 and 58-608 name skateboards, roller skates and inline skates "or any other similar device", never bicycles.

State law fills the gap. Vehicle Code § 21650(g) does not prohibit bicycles "on any sidewalk … where the operation is not otherwise prohibited by this code or local ordinance", § 231 says "An electric bicycle is a bicycle", and § 21206 leaves a city free to regulate by ordinance.

So the sidewalk is open to you in Pomona today, and the police department's education plan is about "safe sidewalk use", not a ban. Ride at a walking pace, yield to everyone on foot, and use the street wherever you can keep up with it.

Cal Poly Pomona

The campus sets its own lines. Cal Poly Pomona's transportation page allows bicycles on campus roadways, designated bike paths, parking lots "to access roads and pathways only" and "Campus sidewalks with a width of 10 feet or more not designated as pedestrian only zones". Its bicycle rules make no separate provision for e-bikes.

No bicycle, moped or two-wheeled vehicle may be "parked or brought inside a classroom or building", except as student housing agreements allow. Students and staff with a valid Bronco ID can use a free, 24-hour secure bike cage in Parking Structure 2, which is the answer to where an expensive e-bike spends a class day.

• The council's agendas. The July 20, 2026 agenda carried the police report to be received and filed; an e-bike or sidewalk ordinance on a later agenda would change this page.
• Metrolink bike cars. The overhaul note on Metrolink's bike page says when the ten bike cars return.
• Bonelli's trails. A county ordinance under § 21207.5(b), or a revised answer on the county's trails site, would change the Bonelli line.

Rebates

The statewide CARB E-Bike Incentive Project "began in December 2022 and concluded in December 2025", after distributing 2,246 incentives. What remains for a Los Angeles County household is the South Coast Air Quality Management District's Replace Your Ride program, which pays for an e-bike only if you scrap a car.

Its e-bike option covers "up to $7,500" toward an on-road e-bike rated 750 watts or less, paid by check "to the e-Bike shop" once a case manager qualifies you. The district's FAQ sets the terms: the car must be a 2010 or older model that is scrapped, the program is "not a rebate program", and a case manager makes contact "approx. 4 to 6 months" after you apply.

The district's list of participating shops has 21 entries and none in Pomona; the nearest, Pedego Yorba Linda, is 11.6 straight-line miles from central Pomona. Its FAQ says eligibility by ZIP code is checked on the program's own site, so start from the district's page above.

Yes. Metro began A Line service to Pomona on September 19, 2025, according to the line's construction authority, about 34 minutes to Pasadena. Metro allows e-bikes on trains "if they are the size of a regular bike", subject to inspection, but its bus racks refuse any bicycle over 55 pounds.

Can I ride an e-bike at Cal Poly Pomona?

Yes, where bicycles may go: campus roadways, designated bike paths, parking lots to reach them, and sidewalks at least 10 feet wide that are not pedestrian-only zones, per Cal Poly Pomona's transportation page. No bike may be brought into a classroom or building, and a free 24-hour bike cage is in Parking Structure 2.

Are e-bikes allowed on trails around Pomona?

Inside Pomona's parks, only on the park roads and drives, under section 38-73. At Bonelli Park, Los Angeles County's trails site says e-bikes are not permitted on its multi-use trails and are allowed on its paved bike paths. On national forest land, follow the Motor Vehicle Use Map.

How many e-bike crashes has Pomona had?

Twenty-six from January 1, 2023, to June 18, 2026, with 24 injury collisions and one death, according to the Police Department's report on the council's July 20, 2026 agenda. The same report counted 42 collisions involving motorized scooters and boards, with 40 injuries and two deaths.

Does California have an e-bike rebate program?

Not any more. The CARB E-Bike Incentive Project concluded in December 2025. In Los Angeles County, the South Coast AQMD's Replace Your Ride program can put up to $7,500 toward an e-bike if you qualify on income and scrap a 2010 or older car.

Are e-bikes legal in Los Angeles County?

Yes, under California's three-class system: Class 1 and Class 2 to 20 mph, Class 3 to 28 mph for riders 16 and over, all at 750 watts or less under § 312.5. County trails are the exception: the county reads its code as keeping e-bikes off multi-use trails and on paved bike paths.

The denominator

Pomona had 147,966 residents at the Census Bureau's 2024 vintage estimate.

The candidate pool for the city was 14 businesses: 1 verified, 3 bicycle benches with no e-bike evidence (one of them could not be read at all), 1 e-bike distributor not shown to be trading, 1 online store closed to the public, 2 closed shops, 4 big-box, skate or swap-meet floors, and 2 that search results placed in Pomona but whose own sites put them in Huntington Beach and Irvine.

Outside the city, 15 businesses within eight straight-line miles were read: 9 e-bike sellers within six miles, 3 more between six and eight miles, 2 listings on Specialized's finder with no e-bike evidence, and 1 roster listing the owner's own site contradicts.

The sources, and what each one could and could not do

OpenStreetMap returned no shop=bicycle object inside Pomona's boundary (relation 1532363), against a control in the same session of 72 shops of all kinds, 42 schools and 20 restaurants. Inside an eight-mile ring it carried four bicycle objects: three of the shops above and one unnamed building on Foothill Boulevard in Claremont.

Seven makers' dealer rosters were read on September 26, 2026, each with a control that it returned rows: Velotric (967 locations), Aventon (49), Giant (5), Bosch (30), Specialized (10), Trek (5) and Pedego's California directory. None was cut short inside the ring. Only Velotric, Bosch, Giant (E-Bikes attribute), Specialized (Turbo), Aventon and Pedego count as e-bike evidence; a Trek listing proves a bicycle dealer.

California's archived CARB retailer roster carries eight addresses inside the ring and none in Pomona. The program concluded in December 2025, so every row is a lead.

Directories. Yelp, Yellow Pages, Superpages, electricbikesshops.com, Levy Electric's shop directory and a Google-derived list were read for Pomona leads, and every lead they produced is in the verdicts above.

AI search. Eight search questions were put to six answer engines, and 32 of the 48 answers were read; Bing's failed its control and Brave's returned a bot check. ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini each named Coates Cyclery as a current Pomona shop.

City limits

Every street address on this page went to the US Census geocoder against the Incorporated Places layer. All twelve in-city addresses returned "Pomona city"; Riding 5's Claremont door has no Census address range and was placed through OpenStreetMap, then checked against the same Census layer. Distances are straight lines from the Census 2024 Gazetteer internal point of Pomona city, not road miles.

Limitations

1. The Local Bikestand is counted on two maker rosters. Its own site and catalog name no e-bike, and Velotric's row reads "Confirm With Store". Phone first.
2. Four of the nine nearby sellers are listed on maker rosters, not their own words: Incycle's two branches, BikeFIX and Pedego Upland. Incycle's own site sells e-bikes by category, which proves the chain.
3. LTO Bike Shop could not be read. No website or social account of its own turned up under either of its names.
4. Pedego Upland's hours are Velotric's. Pedego's dealer page publishes none.
5. The county's Bonelli answer is undated. It sits under a rider's question the page dates to five years ago.
6. Replace Your Ride's own site returned a certificate error on September 26, 2026, so its ZIP eligibility check could not be run.
7. The ring is a floor, not a census. An independent e-bike store on no roster and no directory could be missing; Riding 5 was found by search, not by any roster.
8. Re-verification is due March 2027, or sooner if a shop opens or closes.

What would age this page

• A council ordinance on e-bikes or sidewalks following report 26-1517.
• The opening or closing of a shop inside Pomona or within six miles, which moves the title and the California hub row.
• A Velotric or Bosch roster change for The Local Bikestand, the evidence its count rests on.
• A county ordinance on e-bikes on trails, or a revised county answer for Bonelli.
• Any change to Metro's 55-pound bus-rack line or Metrolink's battery and size rules.
