Buy it if
- First e-bike buyers who want fat-tire capability and a trunk-size fold without crossing the $1,000 line
- Mixed-surface riders — sand, gravel, packed trail and pavement are all inside the 20×4 tire's brief, with 20° published climb capability
- Households sharing one bike: the straddle frame and 31.9–37.8 in seat range fit most adults without swapping anything

Look elsewhere if
- You brake hard and often on hills: mechanical discs are the Pro's biggest economy versus the hydraulic Plus, and descending loaded is where you'd feel it

- Charging speed matters: at 6–8 published hours, this is the slowest-charging bike in Samebike's current US range

The Plus's frame with sensible economies
Same double-folding 6061 aluminum straddle frame, same fat-tire footprint, $200 less. What the Pro trades away is measurable — mechanical brakes for hydraulic, 1,500W peak for 1,800W, 15Ah for 17Ah — and each trade is a fair one at flat-ground commuting speeds.
Trunk-sized in two hinges
Frame and stem fold the 67.7 in bike down to 39 × 21.7 × 31.1 in (99 × 55 × 79 cm) — published figures, measurable against your car before you buy. It stores standing up in an apartment hallway without dominating it.
1,500 peak watts, 20° grades
The 1000W-rated hub peaks at 1,500W, which Samebike rates for 20° climbs — steep-driveway steep. A thumb throttle covers pull-away and tired legs; five assist levels handle everything in between.
Suspension both ends, four-inch rubber
An adjustable front fork and a rear spring shock take the edge off broken pavement, and 20×4 in fat tires float over sand and gravel that would swallow a commuter's 2-inch tire. The riding position is upright and unhurried.

- The same 6061 aluminum double-folding frame family as the $200-dearer Plus — the savings come from components, not from a weaker chassis
- IP54 bike / IP64 electronics water-resistance ratings, published — commute-in-drizzle capability with a number behind it
- Front fork plus a rear spring shock at $999; most sub-$1,000 folders ship rigid or front-only
Red flags
- Samebike's own intro paragraph says "hydraulic disc brakes" but its stat strip, spec table and dedicated brake section all say mechanical — three sources to one, the brakes are mechanical, and we print that
- One battery panel on the page reads "48V 17Ah" — copied from the Plus; the Pro's spec table says 48V 15Ah (720Wh), which is what we list
- Published charge time is 6–8 hours, notably slower than the 4–6 hours quoted for every other current Samebike
- No UL 2849 / UL 2271 certification published; and at 1,500W peak the Pro sits above the 750W ceiling many states write into their e-bike definitions — check your state before street use

How to read this spec sheet
Manufacturer spec pages contain marketing, and marketing sometimes disagrees with the spec table an inch below it. Rather than quietly pick numbers, here is every place Samebike's own page disagrees with itself for this model, and which figure we print:
- Brakes: Samebike's stat strip, spec table and brake feature section all say mechanical disc; only the intro blurb says hydraulic. We print mechanical — the majority and the more conservative reading — and flag the blurb.
- Battery: one marketing panel shows "48V 17Ah / 40+40 miles", identical to the RS-A02 Plus's panel; the Pro's own spec table says 48V 15Ah. We list 15Ah (720Wh).
- The Pro's page quotes torque as "80+Nm high torque" in its description; a deeper panel says "maximum torque > 100" in copy shared with the Plus. We print 80+ N·m.
What we counted
We pulled Samebike US's entire live catalog on 2026-08-23 and counted what was actually buyable: 29 of 32 bike variants across 10 models. The three unbuyable variants are all one model's colorways (M20: Black, LightSteelBlue, DarkGreen); every other bike was buyable in every published colorway on the pull date. This listing mirrors that feed — we only sell configurations Samebike can actually supply, and we re-sync price and availability against their store rather than guessing.

Manufacturing defects under normal use for the original owner, on the frame, battery, motor and the components above. Second-hand bikes stay covered only inside the original first year and only with the first owner's name and order number.

Shipping
Free shipping on every electric bike within the contiguous United States (lower 48).
Orders are prepared and dispatched within 1–3 business days. Most e-bikes arrive within 5–10 business days after dispatch, depending on location.
Ships via trusted parcel and freight carriers — UPS, FedEx, and LTL freight for larger items — with tracking emailed at dispatch.
On delivery
Inspect your shipment at delivery. Damage, defects, or incorrect items must be reported with photos within 48 hours; claims submitted after this window are not accepted.
Bikes with power, charging, or component issues are covered under the manufacturer warranty; Redtail coordinates repair or replacement remotely at no cost to the customer.
Returns
Change-of-mind returns accepted only on unopened, factory-sealed items requested within 72 hours (3 days) of delivery, with a 15% restocking fee plus return shipping. Once a box is opened or a bike is ridden, it is no longer eligible.
Order cancellations carry a 3% transaction fee, because card-processing fees are non-recoverable.
Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. territories, P.O. boxes, and remote areas may incur extra charges or be excluded — contact us before ordering. Frequently asked questions
What am I giving up versus the RS-A02 Plus?
Four things, all published: hydraulic brakes become mechanical, 1,800W peak becomes 1,500W, the 17Ah battery becomes 15Ah, and 28 mph capability becomes 25 mph. The frame, fold, suspension concept and warranty are shared. If your riding is flat-to-rolling and your budget has a hard line at $1,000, the Pro is the rational pick.
Are mechanical disc brakes safe on a bike this fast?
They stop the bike; what they demand is adjustment as the cable stretches and pads wear, which takes a hex key and five minutes. Hydraulics self-adjust and bite harder with less lever force — that's why we recommend the Plus for steep terrain or heavier riders, and why the Pro suits flatter routes. Samebike fits 160mm-class rotors front and rear.
How long does charging really take?
Samebike publishes 6–8 hours for the Pro's 720Wh pack — its slowest-charging current model, and worth knowing before you buy. Overnight charging makes the number irrelevant for commuters; midday top-ups are where you'd feel it. The battery is removable, so the bike can stay parked while the pack charges indoors.
Will it fit me — and my partner?
Samebike markets the straddle frame as fitting "people of all heights" and backs it with numbers: seat height adjusts 31.9–37.8 in and the handlebar 44.9–49.6 in. In practice that covers roughly 5'2" to 6'2" comfortably, which is why these folders work well as shared household bikes. Outside that band, email us your inseam and we'll check it against the geometry.
Where can I legally ride a 1,500W-peak e-bike?
It varies by state, and the honest answer is: check yours first. Many states define electric bicycles at 750W and below, and the Pro's 1,500W peak with 25 mph capability can place it outside those definitions even though it looks and pedals like a bicycle. Our state-law guides on the Redtail journal map the rules; private land and many multi-use areas remain simple everywhere.
