Samebike STORM fat-tire e-bike in Black, drive side in profile, with the SAMEBIKE wordmark on the down tube, the rear rack and fenders, the front fork, the headlight and 26 × 4.0 tires with orange spoke reflectors

The STORM in Black. White and Green cost the same $1,599: a step-over frame with the pack in its down tube, a fork up front, a shock under the saddle and a hub motor in the rear wheel.

A 1000 W rear hub with an 1800 W peak, a 960 Wh pack in the down tube, a lockable fork and a rear shock under a step-over fat-tire frame, with hydraulic discs, turn signals and eight Shimano gears, for $1,599.

Quick answer

The Samebike STORM is a $1,599 full-suspension fat-tire e-bike: one 1000 W rear hub motor (1800 W peak), a removable 48 V 20 Ah pack of 960 Wh, hydraulic discs and 26 × 4.0 tires. Our review's model puts a 180 lb rider at about 54 miles at 15 mph on the throttle over level pavement.

Why the STORM

Samebike's photograph of the STORM's rear hub motor inside the spoked wheel, beside the eight-cog freewheel and the chain
Motor

A 1000 W hub, 1800 W at peak

Samebike's specification list rates the rear hub at 1000 W with an 1800 W peak, and the line under the product title reads "High 70+Nm Torque". Hold the throttle and it drives the bike on its own, or pedal with one of five assist levels behind you.

Samebike's photograph of the STORM's battery in the down tube, with the SAMEBIKE wordmark, the red key lock and a CST tire below
Range

About 83 miles at 15 mph, pedaling lightly

The 48 V 20 Ah pack holds 960 watt-hours and comes out of the down tube with its key. Adding about 75 W of easy pedaling at 15 mph on level pavement, a 180 lb rider gets roughly 83 miles from a full pack by our review's model, and 54 with the throttle doing all the work.

Suspension

A fork you can lock, and a rear shock

Samebike lists a "Dual-shock front fork" with 100 mm of travel and a rear shock with 30 mm. Close the fork's dial on smooth pavement, open it on gravel and roots, and the sprung saddle takes the rest.

Samebike's photograph of the STORM's rear hydraulic caliper gripping its rotor at the dropout
Brakes

Hydraulic discs, front and rear

Both wheels stop on hydraulic discs, which Samebike's brake panel describes as reliable "with less maintenance". On a bike near 100 lb, that stopping power earns its place.

Samebike's photograph of the STORM's right grip, with the hydraulic brake lever and the Shimano thumb shifter
Gears

Eight Shimano speeds

A Shimano eight-speed shifter sits under your right thumb. With the motor in the rear hub, gears are for your legs: drop low on a climb and your own effort goes further.

Samebike's photograph of the STORM's V-shaped red tail light glowing under the rear rack
Lights

Turn signals and a brake light, built in

The manual's control page carries left and right turn keys that light matching arrows, a horn button and a headlight key, and the rear light doubles as a brake light. A 5 V 1 A USB port keeps a phone topped up.

What stands out on the spec sheet

  • A 960 Wh pack, the largest single pack among the eleven Samebikes we sell, shared with the CREST and the VOYAGER.
  • A lockable fork, a rear shock and a sprung saddle, all on Samebike's own pages.
  • Hydraulic disc brakes and a Shimano eight-speed drivetrain at $1,599.
  • Turn signals, a brake light, an electric horn and a 5 V 1 A USB port, per the STORM manual.
  • A rear rack and front and rear fenders, both shown in the manual's overall view.

Real answers

Ask us before you buy whether you clear the top tube, how much of the 960 Wh your commute uses, or whether a trail you ride allows throttle bikes, and our US team replies in writing.

Not sure you will clear the STORM's top tube, or whether 960 Wh covers your usual ride? Email support@redtailebikes.com before you order and we will answer in writing, then buy with the button above.

Who the STORM fits

Samebike's size-and-fit drawing recommends 168–210 cm, and a second chart in its gallery prints 6'6"–7'9". Our review set the Army's 6,068 measured bodies against that drawing: at 5'8", 67 of every 100 riders clear the top tube at the listed 32.3 inches and the post brings the saddle to the pedaling formula's height for 91; at 5'10", those shares are 95 and 100.

It’s your bike if

  • You want suspension at both ends, hydraulic discs and a 960 Wh pack on one bike, for $1,599
  • You stand about 5'8" or taller and are happy to swing a leg over a top tube
  • You mix throttle riding with pedaling on pavement, gravel and dirt roads
  • One pack covers your rides: about 54 miles at 15 mph on the throttle for a 180 lb rider on level pavement

Want something different? We stock it

  • If you are under about 5'8" and want to stand over the frame at every stop, the CREST keeps the STORM's 1000 W motor, 960 Wh pack and 26 × 4.0 tires on a frame with no top tube, for the same $1,599.
  • If it has to fold for a car trunk or a closet, the RS-A02 Plus folds, and brings an 816 Wh pack and hydraulic discs on 20 × 4.0 tires, for $1,199.
  • If you would rather sit upright on a long bench, the M20 seats you moped-style over an 864 Wh pack and a 1200 W rear hub, with hydraulic discs, for $999.

Our STORM review puts every height from 5'2" to 6'4" against Samebike's STORM drawing: the saddle's reach, clearance over the top tube, the lean to the grips and the weight on your hands.

Owning it in your state

Samebike's US page gives the STORM no e-bike class, so your state's own definition decides where you may ride it.

Those definitions read what Samebike publishes: a 1000 W motor with an 1800 W peak, 50 km/h (31.1 mph) on the specification list and a detachable throttle that moves the bike without pedaling. As of September 29, 2026, no CPSC recall names Samebike, by our search of the federal recall database.

The rules for where you ride are in our state-by-state e-bike law guide.

Where Samebike prints two figures

Where Samebike's page, gallery and manual give the STORM two or more figures for one thing, each figure is listed here, with the one the table above leads with.

  • Weight: 45 kg (99.2 lb) on the specification list and the size-and-fit drawing; 100 lb (45.5 kg) for the bike in the manual; 99 lb on a gallery chart; 122 lb (55.5 kg) for the boxed bike in the manual.
  • Load: 150 kg (330 lb) on the specification list, the drawing and the manual's specification table; 120 kg (265 lb) as the rider limit in the manual's safety precautions. Plan on 265 lb for the rider.
  • Range: 160 km "Max Range" on the specification list, 70–160 km on the stat strip, up to 93 miles at pedal-assist level 1 on the range panel, over 100 km in mild electric mode on the battery panel, 140–160 km on a gallery panel, and the manual's two bands as printed above.
  • Torque: "High 70+Nm Torque" on the US page and "over 70Nm" in its product record; Samebike's European page prints "100+Nm" and its European blog "85+ Nm Peak Torque".
  • Handlebar: "Unadjustable" on the specification list, while a gallery chart draws an "ADJUSTABLE RISER" at 40.1–42.5 inches.
  • Rider height: 168–210 cm on the size-and-fit drawing and 6'6"–7'9" on a gallery chart.
  • Water resistance: IP64 for the whole bike in the product page's FAQ, IP54 in the manual.
  • Battery: the manual and the photographs show the pack in the down tube, removed with its key; the page's battery panel calls it "seat-integrated".
  • Warranty: the policy block on the STORM's page reads "12 Months Warranty", and Samebike's warranty policy page gives the frame 3 years and batteries, motors and other accessories 1 year; the warranty cards below quote that page.

Straight answers before you order

The STORM has a top tube: at 5'6", 28 of every 100 riders clear it at Samebike's listed 32.3 inches with a barefoot inseam.

Email us your barefoot inseam first, and we will check it against Samebike's drawing. The CREST puts the same motor, pack and tires on a frame with no top tube. See the CREST. Read the top-tube table.

Samebike prints two load figures: 150 kg (330 lb) on the specification list and a 120 kg (265 lb) rider limit in the manual's safety precautions.

Plan on 265 lb for the rider. Above that, email us and we will put the question to Samebike and send you its answer in writing before you order. Read the load figures.

Samebike's longest figure, 160 km (99 miles), is its "Max Range", and its range panel ties the 93-mile figure to pedal-assist level 1.

Plan on steady rides instead: a 180 lb rider on level pavement gets about 54 miles at 15 mph on the throttle and 83 with easy pedaling, or 41 and 62 with a quarter of the pack held back. See the range tables.

The STORM weighs about 100 lb and does not fold.

It comes to your door free in the lower 48; before it ships, measure the garage or hallway for 78.7 inches of length and 41.3 of height, and plan on two people for the stairs.

Manuals and assembly

The STORM manual's assembly chapter: fit the handlebar and stem and set the stem square to the front wheel, drop the front wheel into the fork with its rotor in the caliper slot and close the quick-release lever, fit the headlight and front fender on the fork's screws, then thread the pedals marked L and R into the matching crank arms. The box holds the charger, two keys, a toolkit and the quick-release skewer. Stuck on a step? Email us the step number and we will walk you through it.

Warranty cover, and who files the claim

A fault is our job

If the bike will not power on, will not charge, shows an error code or has a faulty component, send photos or video and your order number. We open the claim with Samebike and coordinate the repair or replacement remotely, start to finish.

What Samebike publishes

Samebike’s warranty policy states: “Frame warranty for 3 years, batteries, motors and other accessories warranty for 1 year.” After the first year, a battery earns “a prorated credit, based on months of service,” toward a new one.

Samebike’s terms, from its Samebike Warranty Policy (us.samebike.com/pages/warranty-policy), read September 26, 2026.

Wear items

Samebike’s policy lists brake pads, rotors, spokes, tires and tubes, chains, chain rings, cassettes and the crankset among the parts not typically covered, as ordinary wear and tear.

Frequently asked questions

How far can the Samebike STORM go on one charge?

About 54 miles at a steady 15 mph on the throttle for a 180 lb rider on level pavement, by our review's model, and about 83 with easy pedaling. Samebike's own longest figure is a 160 km (99-mile) "Max Range" on its specification list.

What is the top speed of the Samebike STORM?

50 km/h (31.1 mph) on Samebike's specification list, stat strip and motor panel. If your state's rules turn on top speed, email us and we will get Samebike's written figure for the bike you order.

What's the difference between the STORM and the CREST?

The frame. Samebike's US pages give both a 1000 W rear hub with an 1800 W peak, a 48 V 20 Ah pack and 26 × 4.0 tires, and both cost $1,599 here; the STORM has a top tube and the CREST has none.

Is the STORM street legal, and what class is it?

Samebike assigns it no class, so your state's own definition decides, and that definition reads Samebike's figures: a 1000 W motor with an 1800 W peak, 50 km/h on the specification list and a throttle that works without pedaling.

How much does the Samebike STORM weigh?

45 kg (99.2 lb) on Samebike's specification list and 100 lb (45.5 kg) in the manual, whose boxed figure is 122 lb. Plan on two people for stairs and car racks.

What is the STORM's weight limit?

Samebike prints 150 kg (330 lb) as the maximum load and 120 kg (265 lb) as the rider limit in the manual's safety precautions. Plan on 265 lb for the rider, and email us before you order if you weigh more.

How long does the STORM take to charge?

6 to 8 hours, by Samebike's specification list and the manual. The charger is rated 54.6 V and 3 A, so the 20 Ah pack needs about 6.7 hours by simple division; charge it overnight.

Can you remove the STORM's battery?

Yes: turn the key until the pack releases from the down tube, turn the retaining clip, then press the top of the pack and lift it out, per the manual. It charges on the bike or off it.

What does a full charge of the STORM cost?

About 18 cents at the July 2026 US average household rate of 18.31 cents per kilowatt-hour (U.S. Energy Information Administration), before the charger's own losses; at 15 mph on the throttle that is about a third of a cent a mile.

What rider height fits the STORM?

Samebike recommends 168–210 cm on its drawing and 6'6"–7'9" on a gallery chart. By our review's fit model, riders of about 5'8" and taller match it best: at 5'10", 95 of every 100 clear the top tube at 32.3 inches.

Can I pay for the STORM in installments?

On September 29, 2026 Shop Pay's widget on this page showed sample plans of $144.32 a month for 12 months at 15% APR, $1,731.84 in total, or $546.38 a month for 3 months at 15% APR, $1,639.14 in total, subject to an eligibility check.

Rates from 0-36% APR. Payment options through Shop Pay Installments are subject to an eligibility check and are provided by these lending partners: affirm.com/lenders. Options depend on your purchase amount, and a down payment may be required. State notices to consumers: affirm.com/licenses.

Is the STORM good for off-road riding?

Samebike sells it as a "Mountain Electric Bike" on 26 × 4.0 tires with a lockable fork and a rear shock, and its manual adds that it is not a professional off-road bike; each trail's land manager decides whether a throttle bike may ride there.

Is Samebike a legit brand?

Guangzhou Sameway Electric Bicycle Co., Ltd. makes Samebikes, and Samebike's US about page gives 2004 as the company's start. The CPSC listed no Samebike recall on September 29, 2026, and a warranty claim on your STORM comes to us first.
