The M20-III in DarkGreen: a tank-shaped battery over the top tube and a second one in the frame, a hub motor at each axle, and a long bench over a coil-over rear shock.

A 1000 W hub motor in each wheel and two 48 V packs holding 1,728 Wh, on a moped-style frame with hydraulic discs, a coil-over shock and a long bench, for $1,499.

Quick answer

The Samebike M20-III is a $1,499 moped-style fat-tire e-bike: a 1000 W hub motor in each wheel, two 48 V 18 Ah packs holding 1,728 Wh, hydraulic disc brakes and 20 × 4.0 tires. Our review's range model puts a 180 lb rider about 89 miles down level pavement on both packs, holding 15 mph on the throttle.

Motors

A motor in each wheel

With a 1000 W hub in the front wheel and another in the rear, both tires pull. Samebike's description calls them "dual 1000W motors", its stat block credits the pair with "160+Nm", and the specification table puts their peak at 3000 W.

Range

About 127 miles at 15 mph, pedaling lightly

One 48 V 18 Ah pack rides in the tank above the top tube and a second in the frame, 1,728 watt-hours between them, and with both switched on the bike draws from the two together. At 15 mph with about 75 W of easy pedaling, our review's model carries a 180 lb rider about 127 miles over level pavement.

Brakes

Hydraulic discs front and rear

Samebike's brake panel describes "an oil brake braking system that can provide faster, more stable and linear braking effects", fitted at both wheels. For a hard stop at speed, the manual has you squeeze the rear brake first and then the front.

Comfort

A fork, a coil-over shock and a long bench

The specification table lists an "Adjustable front fork+rear suspension", and Samebike's photographs show a coil-over shock with a red adjuster under the bench. The bench runs long, so you can sit up to about 4 inches closer to the bar or farther back.

Controls

Throttle, five levels and a center display

A thumb throttle moves the bike with no pedaling, and five assist levels add power as you pedal, starting each ride at level 1. The center-mounted color display shows your speed, distance, battery and assist level, and holding the minus key for two seconds starts walk mode at under 6 km/h.

DarkGreen or Peru, both $1,499

Two finishes, one frame, one parts list and one price: the brown bench and the tan tire sidewalls come on both. Peru is the copper-brown one pictured here, and DarkGreen heads this page.

What stands out on the spec sheet

  • A second pack you switch on with its own button, after which, in Samebike's words, "the bike will automatically use them collectively".
  • An "ultra-bright headlight" in Samebike's description, with an electric horn and a 5 V 1 A USB port fitted as standard.
  • Twenty-inch wheels on what Samebike calls "puncture-resistant 4-inch fat tires".
  • An IP54 rating in both manuals, a Shimano seven-speed drivetrain, five assist levels and a thumb throttle.
  • Two ways to charge: the tank pack lifts off with its key for charging indoors, and the frame pack takes the charger through its own port on the bike.

Real answers

Add the M20-III to cart

Want to know how your feet land on the M20-III's bench, or how many of its 1,728 Wh your usual ride will use? Email support@redtailebikes.com before you order and we will answer in writing, then buy with the button above.

Who the M20-III fits

Samebike recommends the M20-III for riders from 5'6" to 7'2". The bench does not move, so fit comes down to your feet at a stop: seated on the bench's 31.7-inch flat on Samebike's drawing, 85 of every 100 riders at 5'8" touch down with both feet flat, 99 at 5'10" and 47 at 5'6"; at the listed 32.5 inches, the same heights score 56, 90 and 20.

It’s your bike if

  • You want both wheels driven, a hub motor in each, with hydraulic discs to stop them
  • Your rides run long: two packs hold 1,728 Wh, the most on any Samebike specification table we carry
  • You stand about 5'10" or taller, where 90 to 99 of every 100 riders sit with both feet flat on either reading of the bench
  • You like to sit in and ride on the throttle or with easy pedaling, the way a moped rides

Want something different? We stock it

  • If you are under about 5'6" and want both feet flat at a stop, the RS-A02 Plus keeps hydraulic discs and an 816 Wh pack for $1,199 on a frame that dips to 26.7 inches, low enough for 95 of every 100 riders at 5'0" to stand over barefoot.
  • If you want to pedal long distances at full leg extension, the RS-A08 II has a seat post Samebike draws reaching the formula saddle height for 85 of every 100 riders at 5'8", with a fork, a rear shock and hydraulic discs, for $1,399.
  • If $999 is your ceiling, the M20 shares the M20-III's size-and-fit figures and hydraulic discs, with one 1200 W motor (1800 W peak) and one 48 V 18 Ah pack of 864 Wh, for $999 in Peru.

Our M20-III review sets every height from 5'0" to 6'4" against Samebike's drawing of this bench: your feet at a stop on all three bench readings, the lean to the grips and the weight on your hands.

Owning it in your state

Samebike's US page assigns the M20-III no e-bike class, so your state's definition decides where it may be ridden.

Those definitions weigh figures Samebike publishes for this bike: two 1000 W motors with a 3000 W peak on the specification table, 50 km/h (31.1 mph) on the stat strip, and a thumb throttle that moves it without pedaling. As of September 28, 2026, no CPSC recall names Samebike.

The rules for where you ride are in our state-by-state e-bike law guide.

Samebike’s figures, from its US product page and specification table (us.samebike.com/products/m20-iii-off-road-peak-3000w-fat-tire-electric-bike) and its owner’s manual, read September 28, 2026. Metric-to-US conversions are ours.

What we counted. By the US specification tables of the eleven Samebike models we sell, the M20-III carries the largest battery, 48 V 36 Ah (1,728 Wh) against 960 Wh on the next three, the CREST, the STORM and the VOYAGER, and the highest peak rating, 3000 W where the next four list 1800 W.

From the US specification table of each of the eleven Samebike models on our shelf, read October 2, 2026.

Where Samebike prints two figures

Where Samebike's page, manuals, FAQ and gallery give the M20-III more than one figure for the same thing, every figure is below, with the one the table above uses.

  • Weight: 58 kg (127.9 lb) on the specification table, 94.7 lb on the size-and-fit drawing, 94 lb (43 kg) in both manuals and 70.5 lb on gallery image 13. The table above uses 58 kg, the heaviest.
  • Load: 150 kg (330 lb) on the drawing, gallery image 13 and both manuals; 180 kg on the specification table and the stat strip. Plan on 150 kg.
  • Peak power: 3000 W on the specification table, in the title and on the stat strip; the motor panel reads "M20-III with 2600W of peak motor power". The table above uses 3000 W.
  • Top speed: 50 km/h on the stat strip and the motor panel, "5KM/H" in the specification table's speed row, and 60 km/h in the June 2024 manual, the same speed the October 2024 edition prints as 37 mph. The table above prints each one.
  • Range: 140 km on pure electric and a 240 km "Max range" on the specification table, 140–280 km on the stat strip, 280 km at pedal-assist level 1 on the battery panel, and the manuals' two bands as printed above.
  • Torque: "160+Nm" on the stat block for the pair; the motor panel's paragraph names "80Nm instant torque".
  • Frame: "Iron" on the specification table, "6061 Aluminum Alloy" in both manuals.
  • Display: a "4.2-inch color center-mounted LCD screen" on the display panel, an "upgraded 4.0-inch Middle LCD intelligent display" in the FAQ.
  • Seat height: 32.5 inches on the size-and-fit list and 32.4 inches on gallery image 13.
  • Charge time: 4–6 hours on the specification table, 4–8 hours in both manuals.
  • Manuals: the product page links the June 2024 edition; Samebike's Manuals and Guides page carries an October 2024 edition, which adds that the front wheelset ships in a separate package.
  • Warranty: Samebike's warranty policy covers the frame for 3 years and batteries, motors and other accessories for 1 year, while this product page's policy block reads "12 Months Warranty"; the warranty cards below quote the policy page.

Straight answers before you order

The bench does not adjust: seated on it, 47 of every 100 riders at 5'6" reach the ground flat-footed on Samebike's drawing, and 20 at the listed 32.5 inches.

Send us your barefoot inseam and we will read it against the drawing before you order. Under about 5'6", the RS-A02 Plus has a seat post you set yourself, on a frame that dips to 26.7 inches. See the RS-A02 Plus. Read the stop table.

From 5'4" up, the bench sits below the pedaling formula's saddle height for every rider: at 5'8" it is 5.6 inches under the median rider's.

Ridden the way it is built, on the throttle or with easy pedaling, that low bench is what puts your feet on the ground. For long pedaled miles at full leg extension, the RS-A08 II's seat post reaches that height for 85 of every 100 riders at 5'8". See the RS-A08 II. Read the bench table.

Samebike's largest range figure, 280 km (174 miles), is the battery panel's at pedal-assist level 1, the gentlest of five.

Plan on steady-speed figures instead: for a 180 lb rider on level pavement, about 89 miles on the throttle at 15 mph and 127 with easy pedaling, keeping a quarter of both packs in reserve. See the range tables.

It weighs 58 kg (127.9 lb) on the specification table and does not fold; Samebike's size-and-fit list gives 68.9 inches of length and 44.3 of height.

Plan two people for any lift, take the tank pack off first, and give it a ground-floor spot it can roll into. If it must fit a car trunk or a closet, the RS-A02 Plus folds around an 816 Wh pack. See how the RS-A02 Plus folds.

The front wheelset may arrive in a package of its own: Samebike's October 2024 manual notes that it "is shipped separately".

If one box lands before the other, email us your order number and we will trace the second package for you; the manual's six assembly steps then take it from the boxes to the road.

Manuals and assembly

The manual's assembly chapter runs six steps: set the handlebar and tighten its four screws, fit the headlight and the front fender, mount the front wheel with its disc on the brake side, run the front motor's cable through the fork to the connector under the battery and twist its ring home, then thread the L and R pedals, the left one counterclockwise. The box holds the charger, three large wrenches, five Allen wrenches and a screwdriver. Stuck on a step? Email us which one and we will walk you through it.

Warranty cover, and who files the claim

A fault is our job

If the bike will not power on, will not charge, shows an error code or has a faulty component, send photos or video and your order number. We open the claim with Samebike and coordinate the repair or replacement remotely, start to finish.

What Samebike publishes

Samebike’s warranty policy states: “Frame warranty for 3 years, batteries, motors and other accessories warranty for 1 year.” After the first year, a battery earns “a prorated credit, based on months of service,” toward a new one.

Samebike’s terms, from its Samebike Warranty Policy (us.samebike.com/pages/warranty-policy), read September 26, 2026.

Wear items

Samebike’s policy lists brake pads, rotors, spokes, tires and tubes, chains, chain rings, cassettes and the crankset among the parts not typically covered, as ordinary wear and tear.

Frequently asked questions

How far can the Samebike M20-III go on one charge?

With both packs full, our review's range model gives a 180 lb rider on level pavement about 89 miles at a steady 15 mph on the throttle and about 127 with easy pedaling. Samebike prints 140 km (87 miles) on pure electric and up to 280 km (174 miles) at pedal-assist level 1.

What is the top speed of the Samebike M20-III?

Samebike's stat strip and motor panel print 50 km/h (31.1 mph); its specification table's speed entry reads "5KM/H", and the June 2024 manual's 60 km/h appears as 37 mph in the October edition. Ask us, and we will get Samebike's written figure for the bike you order.

Does the M20-III have two motors?

Yes, a 1000 W hub motor in each wheel, which Samebike's description calls "dual 1000W motors". Its specification table lists 2000 W together with a 3000 W peak, and the stat block credits the pair with "160+Nm".

How do the M20-III's two batteries work?

Each 48 V 18 Ah pack has its own switch. From Samebike's FAQ: "When a second battery is installed, a button next to the battery can be pressed to switch it on," and "When both batteries are turned on, the bike will automatically use them collectively."

What's the difference between the M20 and the M20-III?

They share Samebike's size-and-fit figures and hydraulic discs. The M20-III adds a second motor and a second pack, two 1000 W hubs and 1,728 Wh against the M20's single 1200 W motor and 864 Wh, for $1,499 against $999.

Is the M20-III street legal, and what class is it?

Samebike assigns it no class, so your state's definition settles where you may ride it, reading Samebike's own figures: two 1000 W motors with a 3000 W peak, 50 km/h on the stat strip, and a thumb throttle.

How much does the Samebike M20-III weigh?

58 kg (127.9 lb) on its specification table, the figure we plan on. The manuals print 94 lb (43 kg), the size-and-fit drawing 94.7 lb and gallery image 13 70.5 lb; the carton weighs 52 kg (114 lb).

What is the M20-III's weight limit?

Plan on 150 kg (330 lb), the load on Samebike's drawing, gallery image 13 and both manuals; the specification table and stat strip print 180 kg. Near the line with rider and cargo? Email us for Samebike's answer.

How much torque does the M20-III have?

Samebike's stat block gives "160+Nm" for the two motors together, and its motor panel describes "80Nm instant torque".

Can you replace the M20-III's batteries?

Yes. Power off, turn the key clockwise and push the tank pack forward to lift it away; the frame pack charges through its own port. When a pack is due, send us your order number and we source the same 48 V 18 Ah battery.

How long does the M20-III take to charge?

Samebike's specification table says 4 to 6 hours, both manuals 4 to 8; by simple division the 3 A charger fills one 18 Ah pack in about 6.0 hours, so plan two sessions when both run low.

What does a full charge of the M20-III cost?

About 32 cents for both packs at the US average residential rate for July 2026, 18.31 cents per kilowatt-hour (U.S. Energy Information Administration), before the charger's own losses; at 15 mph on the throttle, about 0.35 cents a mile.

What rider height fits the M20-III?

Samebike recommends 5'6" to 7'2". On its drawing, 85 of every 100 riders at 5'8" sit flat-footed on the bench's 31.7-inch flat and 56 at the listed 32.5 inches; from 5'10" up it is 90 or more on either reading.

Does the Samebike M20-III have a throttle?

Yes, a thumb throttle that moves the bike without pedaling, beside five pedal-assist levels; the display starts every ride at level 1.

Where do I find the M20-III manual?

Samebike's product page links the June 2024 edition, listed in the sources below; its Manuals and Guides page carries an October 2024 edition that adds a note on the front wheelset shipping separately.

Can I pay for the M20-III in installments?

Shop Pay's widget showed two sample plans on September 28, 2026: $512.21 a month for 3 months at 15% APR, $1,536.63 in total, or $135.30 a month for 12 months at 15% APR, $1,623.60 in total, subject to an eligibility check.

Rates from 0-36% APR. Payment options through Shop Pay Installments are subject to an eligibility check and are provided by these lending partners: affirm.com/lenders. Options depend on your purchase amount, and a down payment may be required. State notices to consumers: affirm.com/licenses.

What tire pressure does the M20-III use?

Both manuals point you to the tire itself ("According to the actual information on the tire"), and the June 2024 edition asks you to "check the pressure of the tire and supply enough pressure" before riding.

Is Samebike a legit brand?
