Samebike STORM Fat Tire Mountain Electric Bike

Same big-battery bones as the CREST, different brain: NFC card on the display, app in your pocket, and a fast charger in the box.
The Samebike STORM is the tech flagship of the range: the same 960Wh big-battery, 1,800W-peak platform as the CREST, plus LG cells with a smart BMS, an 8A fast charger, NFC unlocking, app connectivity and switchable torque/cadence assist modes. Black, White or Green at $1,299 — Samebike's own price, free shipping in the lower 48 from Redtail.
- 960WhLG-cell battery
- 8AFast charger included
- 1,800WPeak motor power
- NFC + appUnlock and connect
- 8-speedShimano drivetrain
Who the STORM is for
Buy it if
- Short-downtime riders: the included 8A fast charger is the only one in Samebike's US range — the maker claims roughly 2-hour recharges on the 960Wh pack (its general spec list says 4–6; see the ledger)
- Riders who want both assist personalities — a torque mode that mirrors your pedal pressure and a cadence mode that just cruises, switchable
- Anyone who has walked back to a bike hoping it's still there: NFC unlock plus app connectivity add layers a cable lock doesn't
- Distance commuters: Samebike quotes up to 93 miles of PAS-1 range from the LG-cell pack, measured under controlled conditions
Look elsewhere if
- You don't want electronics between you and your bike — the CREST is this exact platform minus the NFC, app and fast charger, at the same $1,299
- Weight matters: 45 kg (99 lb) published, on a high-carbon-steel frame
- You need a battery you can carry to a desk outlet — Samebike doesn't describe the STORM's seat-integrated pack as removable
- You need a UL-listed system: no UL 2849 / UL 2271 certification is published

The only fast charger in the range
Every other current Samebike ships a standard charger and quotes 4–6 hours; the STORM includes an 8A unit with a smart BMS and claims roughly two hours. Our own arithmetic on the 960Wh pack says ~2.5 hours at full 8A flow — either way, it's lunch-break charging instead of overnight.

960Wh of named LG cells
Samebike specifies LG cells and a smart battery-management system for the STORM's seat-integrated pack, and claims up to 93 miles of PAS-1 range under controlled test conditions — with 75+ km quoted for its milder everyday figure. Naming the cell maker is a small disclosure that most budget brands skip.

Torque feel or cadence cruise — your call
A torque mode reads how hard you pedal and answers instantly, for sporty riding and loose surfaces; a cadence mode delivers steady, effortless assist for long flat miles. The STORM is the only current Samebike that lets you switch between the two rather than committing at checkout.

NFC card, app, USB
Tap the NFC card to wake the bike, pair the app for status and settings, and charge your phone from the onboard USB port. It's the electronics layer the CREST goes without — worth $0 extra here, and worth choosing the CREST to skip if you prefer bikes that are only bikes.
The honest ledger
Green flags
- Named cells: Samebike states the 960Wh pack runs LG cells with a smart BMS — most bikes at this price say '48V 20Ah' and stop; naming the cell supplier is checkable honesty
- The 8A fast charger ships standard, not as an upsell — double-digit-amp charging is genuinely rare under $1,500
- Torque and cadence modes both present and rider-switchable — you get the responsive feel and the effortless cruise in one bike
- Front and rear dual LED lights ship standard — the after-dark basics are covered out of the box rather than sold as accessories
Red flags
- Samebike's own page contradicts itself on charging: '~2 hours' beside the 8A fast charger, '4–6 hours' in its general spec list. Arithmetic (960Wh ÷ 8A at 48V) lands near 2.5 hours for a full charge under ideal conditions — we quote both claims and the math, not a promise
- One banner calls the STORM a 'dual-motor eBike'; every detailed panel and the spec list describe a single 1000W (1,800W peak) hub. Single hub is what the evidence supports and what we print
- The page's size-and-fit chart mislabels its units ('Total Height 1050 cm') — millimeter figures wearing centimeter labels; we've converted from the plausible mm readings and marked them approximate
- No UL 2849 / UL 2271 published, no US class claimed, and 50 km/h (31 mph) capability — the same street-rules caveat as every high-power Samebike: check your state before commuting on it

How to read this spec sheet
Manufacturer spec pages contain marketing, and marketing sometimes disagrees with the spec table an inch below it. Rather than quietly pick numbers, here is every place Samebike's own page disagrees with itself for this model, and which figure we print:
- The STORM's PDP is the one current Samebike page whose structured spec module is empty (its template renders 'product_data_json = ;'). Specs above are read from the page's own on-page spec list, stat strip and feature panels — all archived 2026-08-23 — with each contradiction noted rather than resolved silently.
- Charging: '~2 hours' (fast-charger panel) vs '4–6 hours' (spec list). 960Wh ÷ (48V × 8A) ≈ 2.5 h of pure charge time; real charging tapers near full. Both figures are Samebike's; the arithmetic is ours.
- 'Dual-motor eBike' appears once in a headline; the hardware described everywhere else is a single 1000W hub. We print single-motor.
- Size chart: figures like 'Total Height 1050 cm' are physically impossible as centimeters and consistent as millimeters (1050 mm = 41.3 in). Converted values are marked approximate.
- Battery removability: not stated by Samebike (its folder pages say 'removable'; this page doesn't). Ask us and we'll confirm with Samebike before you order.
What we counted
We pulled Samebike US's entire live catalog on 2026-08-23 and counted what was actually buyable: 29 of 32 bike variants across 10 models. The three unbuyable variants are all one model's colorways (M20: Black, LightSteelBlue, DarkGreen); every other bike was buyable in every published colorway on the pull date. This listing mirrors that feed — we only sell configurations Samebike can actually supply, and we re-sync price and availability against their store rather than guessing.
Redtail original analysis, counted from Samebike US's public storefront feed on 2026-08-23 (one shipping-surcharge SKU excluded). Availability moves; email support@redtailebikes.com for a combination not shown here.

Frequently asked questions
What exactly does the STORM add over the CREST?
Four things, for the same $1,299: the 8A fast charger, NFC unlocking, app connectivity, and switchable torque/cadence assist modes — plus Samebike names the STORM's cells (LG). The platform underneath is shared: 960Wh, 1,800W peak, Shimano 8-speed, hydraulic discs, steel frame, 99 lb. If none of those four features move you, the CREST is the same bike with less to pair.
How fast does it really charge?
Samebike claims about 2 hours with the included 8A charger, while its own general spec list says 4–6. The arithmetic: a 960Wh pack at 48V × 8A takes roughly 2.5 hours of ideal-rate charging, and real lithium charging slows near the top. Expect somewhere between the claims — a long lunch, not an overnight — and treat the 2-hour figure as best-case.
Is it actually dual-motor?
No — and Samebike's own detailed copy agrees with us. One marketing banner calls the STORM 'dual-motor,' but the spec list, the motor panel and the stat strip all describe a single 1000W hub with an 1,800W peak. We flag it because you may see that banner on their site; the bike you receive has one motor, and one is what its numbers describe.
What's the range on the LG pack?
Samebike's controlled-condition claim is 93 miles at PAS 1; its everyday 'mild electric mode' figure is 75+ km (47+ mi). Riders mixing assist levels with throttle should plan around the 47-mile figure. The 960Wh capacity is the real asset: it's the largest pack Samebike sells, tied with the CREST's.
What happens if the app or NFC stops working?
The STORM remains a bicycle: pedals, gears and brakes don't consult the electronics. The practical questions are unlocking and settings, which is why we route any connectivity fault through Samebike's 1-year electronics coverage — email support@redtailebikes.com with your order number and a video of the behavior and Redtail files the claim. If depending on an app at all bothers you, that is a legitimate reason to buy the CREST instead, and we'll say so.
What warranty applies?
Samebike's published terms: 3-year frame, 1-year battery (prorated after year one), motor, and other components; bundled free accessories excluded. All claims for bikes bought here run through Redtail — we deal with Samebike so you don't. Inspect the box within 48 hours of delivery; shipping-damage windows are short on both sides.

How we verified this page. Every specification above was read from an archived copy of Samebike's own US product page (us.samebike.com/products/storm-large-battery-fat-tire-powerful-1000w-peak-1800w-electric-bike), retrieved 2026-08-23 with the price cross-checked against two independent Samebike endpoints the same day.
