Samebike CREST Fat Tire Mountain Electric Bike

The CREST in Navy; Black and White sell for the same $1,599. The frame dips low between the wheels, with the pack along the down tube and a shock behind the seat tube.
Step into it instead of over it: the CREST drops the top tube and keeps a 1000 W rear hub with an 1800 W peak, a 960 Wh pack, a lockable fork, a rear shock, hydraulic discs, turn signals and eight Shimano gears, all for $1,599.
No top tube, 1000 W: the Samebike CREST is a $1,599 fat-tire e-bike you step into, with an 1800 W peak, a removable 960 Wh pack (48 V 20 Ah), a lockable fork, a rear shock and hydraulic discs. By our review's model, a 180 lb rider gets about 54 miles at 15 mph on the throttle over level pavement.

Why the CREST

No top tube to swing a leg over
Samebike's European blog puts the idea in one line: "By removing the top tube, the Crest allows you to step right through the frame." On its size-and-fit drawing the frame's lowest edge measures 19.4 inches up, so the shortest-legged rider in twenty at 5'0" still clears it by 7.7 inches barefoot.

1000 W at the rear hub, 1800 W peak
The rear hub is rated 1000 W on Samebike's specification table and peaks at 1800 W, and the line under the CREST's title reads "High 70+Nm Torque". Thumb the throttle and the motor moves the bike alone; pedal instead and five assist levels share the work.

About 54 miles on the throttle at 15 mph
Its 48 V 20 Ah pack stores 960 watt-hours and locks into the frame with a key. For a 180 lb rider on level pavement, our review's model gives about 54 miles at a steady 15 mph on the throttle alone, and about 83 when easy pedaling of 75 W joins in.

A lockable fork, a rear shock and a sprung seat
Samebike's specification table lists a "Dual-shock front fork", its page gives the fork "100mm Distance traveled" and the rear shock 30mm, and gallery image 27 shows the fork's OPEN and LOCK dial. Gallery image 17, headed "SEAT SUSPENSION", adds springs under the saddle.

Hydraulic discs and eight Shimano speeds
Samebike's brake panel specifies hydraulic discs "front and rear 180mm" for "reliable stopping power", which a 99 lb bike puts to work. The Shimano eight-speed shifter sits under your right thumb, and because the motor spins the rear wheel, the gears serve your legs.

A long rear rack, fenders and signals
Samebike calls the rack an "Extended rear seat rack", "Lengthened and thickened for greater usable space", and fenders cover both wheels. Gallery images 19 and 21 show turn signals front and back and a brake light, and the manual adds an electric horn and a 5 V 1 A USB port.
What stands out on the spec sheet
- No top tube: the frame's lowest edge measures 19.4 inches on Samebike's drawing.
- A 960 Wh pack, the largest single pack among the eleven Samebikes we sell, shared with the STORM and the VOYAGER.
- A lockable fork, a rear shock and a spring-mounted seat, each shown on Samebike's CREST page.
- Hydraulic discs with 180 mm rotors and a Shimano eight-speed drivetrain.
- Turn signals and a brake light on gallery images 19 and 21, plus an electric horn and a 5 V 1 A USB port in the manual.

Who the CREST fits
Samebike prints one rider-height window for the CREST, 6'6"–7'9", on its size-and-fit drawing. Our review set the Army's 6,068 measured bodies against that drawing: the frame's lowest edge is 19.4 inches up, so every height from 5'0" to 6'2" steps through, and the post brings the saddle to the pedaling formula's height for 79 of every 100 riders at 5'7", 89 at 5'8" and 100 at 5'10".
It’s your bike if
- You want to step through the frame instead of swinging a leg over it, on a full-size fat-tire bike
- You stand about 5'7" or taller, where the saddle reaches the pedaling formula's height for most riders
- You want suspension at both ends, hydraulic discs and a 960 Wh pack for $1,599
- A charge covers your riding: about 54 miles at 15 mph on the throttle for a 180 lb rider on level pavement
Want something different? We stock it
- If you want a top tube to grip with your knees, the STORM carries the CREST's 1000 W motor, 960 Wh pack and 26 × 4.0 tires under a step-over frame, at the same $1,599.
- If you stand under about 5'6" and want the saddle at the pedaling formula's height, the CY20 Pro (Solid Wheel) reaches it for 99 of every 100 riders at 5'4" and 5'6" on 20 × 3.0 tires, and folds, for $599.
- If it has to fold for a car trunk or a closet, the RS-A02 Plus folds, and carries an 816 Wh pack with hydraulic discs on 20 × 4.0 tires, for $1,199.
Our CREST review sets every height from 5'0" to 6'2" against Samebike's CREST drawing: the frame's lowest edge, the saddle's range, the lean to the grips and the weight on your hands.

Owning it in your state
Samebike's US page assigns the CREST no e-bike class, so the definition in your state's law decides where it may ride.
That definition reads Samebike's figures: a 1000 W motor with an 1800 W peak, 50 km/h (31.1 mph) on the specification table, and a detachable throttle that drives the bike without pedaling. No CPSC recall names Samebike as of September 29, 2026, going by our search of the federal recall database.
The rules for where you ride are in our state-by-state e-bike law guide.

What we counted. By the US specification tables of the eleven Samebike models we sell, three roll on 26 × 4.0 tires, the CREST, the STORM and the RS-A08 II, and two of those, the CREST and the STORM, pair them with the largest single pack of the eleven, 48 V 20 Ah (960 Wh), which the 20-inch VOYAGER also carries; the RS-A08 II carries 816 Wh.
Each model's US specification table, read on October 2, 2026, beside our own listing prices that day.
Where Samebike prints two figures
Samebike's page, gallery and manual sometimes give the CREST two figures for one thing; each figure is listed here, and the table above leads with the first.
- Weight: 45 kg (99.2 lb) on the specification table; 99 lb on the drawing and gallery image 25; 99 lb (45 kg) for the bike and 121 lb (55 kg) boxed in the manual.
- Load: 150 kg (330 lb) on the specification table, the stat strip, the drawing, gallery image 25 and the manual's specification table; 120 kg (265 lb) for the rider in the manual's safety precautions. This page plans on 265 lb.
- Range: 160 km "Max Range" on the specification table, 70–160 km on the stat strip, "UP TO 160KM Pas 1 Mode Range" and over 75 km in mild electric mode on the battery panel, 140–160 km on gallery image 29, and the manual's two bands in the table above.
- Torque: "High 70+Nm Torque" on the US page; "100+Nm" on Samebike's European CREST page and "85+ Nm Peak Torque" on its European blog.
- Handlebar: "Unadjustable" on the specification table; an "ADJUSTABLE RISER" and "Handlebar height 40.5"" on gallery image 25; a total height of 39.3–41.7 in on the size list.
- Size: 200 × 71 × 105 cm on the specification table; 2000 × 670 × 1030 mm in the manual.
- Water resistance: IP64 for the whole bike in the page's FAQ; IP54 in the manual.
- Battery: the battery panel calls the pack "seat-integrated"; gallery image 29 and Samebike's studio photographs show it along the down tube, and the manual removes it with the key.
- Warranty: "12 Months Warranty" in the CREST page's policy block, against 3 years on the frame and 1 year on batteries, motors and other accessories on Samebike's warranty policy page, which the cards below quote.
Straight answers before you order
The lowest saddle top sits 39.4 inches up on Samebike's drawing, already above the pedaling formula's height for 42 of every 100 riders at 5'6" and 84 at 5'4".
Send us your height and barefoot inseam and we will check them against the drawing before you order. The CY20 Pro (Solid Wheel) sets its saddle lower on 20-inch wheels. See the CY20 Pro. Read the saddle table.
The CREST's specification table allows 150 kg (330 lb) of load, while the manual's safety precautions cap the rider at 120 kg (265 lb).
Plan on 265 lb for the rider. If you weigh more, email us and we will ask Samebike which figure governs and send you its answer before you order. Read the load figures.
Samebike's 160 km (99 miles) is its "Max Range", and its battery panel ties that distance to PAS 1.
For a steady ride, our review's model gives a 180 lb rider on level pavement about 54 miles at 15 mph on the throttle and 83 with easy pedaling; hold a quarter of the pack in reserve and plan on 41 and 62. See the range tables.
The CREST weighs 99 lb and does not fold.
Delivery is free in the lower 48; before it arrives, clear 78.7 inches of floor and about 41 inches of height for it, and line up a second pair of hands for stairs or a car rack.
Manuals and assembly
The CREST manual's assembly pages run in this order: the handlebar and stem, set square to the front wheel; the front wheel into the fork with its rotor in the caliper slot, locked by the quick-release lever; the headlight and front fender on the fork's shared screws; and the pedals, marked L and R for their crank arms. In the box: the charger, two keys, a toolkit and the quick-release skewer. Email us the step number if one stalls you.
Warranty cover, and who files the claim
A fault is our job
If the bike will not power on, will not charge, shows an error code or has a faulty component, send photos or video and your order number. We open the claim with Samebike and coordinate the repair or replacement remotely, start to finish.
What Samebike publishes
Samebike’s warranty policy states: “Frame warranty for 3 years, batteries, motors and other accessories warranty for 1 year.” After the first year, a battery earns “a prorated credit, based on months of service,” toward a new one.
Samebike’s terms, from its Samebike Warranty Policy (us.samebike.com/pages/warranty-policy), read September 26, 2026.
Wear items
Samebike’s policy lists brake pads, rotors, spokes, tires and tubes, chains, chain rings, cassettes and the crankset among the parts not typically covered, as ordinary wear and tear.
Frequently asked questions
How far can the Samebike CREST go on one charge?
By our review's model, a 180 lb rider on level pavement covers about 54 miles at a steady 15 mph on the throttle, or about 83 pedaling easily. Samebike's own longest figure is the 160 km (99-mile) "Max Range" on its specification table.
What is the top speed of the Samebike CREST?
Samebike prints 50 km/h (31.1 mph) on the specification table, the stat strip, the motor panel and gallery image 28. If a speed figure decides where you may ride, ask us and we will request Samebike's number for your bike in writing.
Does the Samebike CREST have a top tube?
No. Measured on Samebike's size-and-fit drawing, the frame's lowest edge stands 19.4 inches off the ground, and our review finds every rider from 5'0" to 6'2" stepping through it, the shortest-legged in twenty at 5'0" with 7.7 inches to spare.
What's the difference between the CREST and the STORM?
Only the frame: the CREST has no top tube, while the STORM steps over one. Both carry a 1000 W rear hub with an 1800 W peak, a 48 V 20 Ah pack and 26 × 4.0 tires, and both sell for $1,599 here.
Is the CREST street legal, and what class is it?
Samebike gives the CREST no class, so your state's own e-bike definition decides where it rides, reading the numbers Samebike prints: 1000 W rated, 1800 W at peak, 50 km/h on the specification table, and a throttle that moves the bike without pedaling.
How much does the Samebike CREST weigh?
45 kg (99.2 lb) on the specification table, 99 lb on the drawing and in the manual, and 121 lb boxed. Two people make stairs and car racks easy.
What is the CREST's weight limit?
The specification table and the manual's own table print 150 kg (330 lb) of load, and the manual's safety precautions limit the rider to 120 kg (265 lb). Plan on 265 lb, and email us first if you weigh more.
How long does the CREST take to charge?
Samebike prints 6 to 8 hours. Its charger puts out 54.6 V at 3 A, so dividing the 20 Ah pack by 3 A gives about 6.7 hours; an overnight charge covers it.
Can you take the battery out of the CREST?
Yes. The manual has you turn the key until the pack pops out slightly, rotate the retaining clip, then press the top of the pack and pull it free, so it charges on the bike or indoors.
What does a full charge of the CREST cost?
About 18 cents: 960 Wh at the July 2026 US household average of 18.31 cents per kilowatt-hour from the U.S. Energy Information Administration, before charger losses. On the throttle at 15 mph that is about a third of a cent a mile.
What rider height fits the CREST?
Samebike's drawing and gallery image 25 print one window, 6'6" to 7'9". Our review's fit model, run on the Army's 6,068 measured bodies, puts the saddle at the pedaling formula's height for 89 of every 100 riders at 5'8", 100 at 5'10" and 92 at 6'0", and every height from 5'0" to 6'2" steps through the frame.
Can I pay for the CREST in installments?
Yes, through Shop Pay. On September 29, 2026 the widget on this page offered sample plans of $144.32 a month for 12 months at 15% APR, $1,731.84 in total, or $546.38 a month for 3 months at 15% APR, $1,639.14 in total, after an eligibility check.
Rates from 0-36% APR. Payment options through Shop Pay Installments are subject to an eligibility check and are provided by these lending partners: affirm.com/lenders. Options depend on your purchase amount, and a down payment may be required. State notices to consumers: affirm.com/licenses.
Is the CREST good for off-road riding?
Samebike sells it as a "Mountain Electric Bike" for "All-terrain" riding, with 26 × 4.0 tires, a lockable fork and a rear shock, and its manual says "This product is not professional off-road bike". Whether a throttle bike may use a trail is up to that trail's land manager.
Is Samebike a legit brand?
Samebikes are made by Guangzhou Sameway Electric Bicycle Co., Ltd., which Samebike's US about page dates to 2004. On September 29, 2026 the CPSC listed no recall naming Samebike, and if your CREST needs a warranty repair, you contact us and we take the claim to Samebike.
