Why the Foldtan M-160

Addmotor Foldtan M-160 Folding eBike — Hydraulic stops, locking fork
The family's best hardware

Hydraulic stops, locking fork

Mineral-oil hydraulic discs on 180mm rotors give you one-finger braking that never needs a cable tightened, and the 100mm suspension fork adjusts and locks out for smooth-road efficiency. No other Foldtan carries either.

Addmotor Foldtan M-160 Folding eBike — 34 inches folded, 960Wh aboard
Smallest fold, biggest pack

34 inches folded, 960Wh aboard

Latch it down to a published 34.1 × 20.9 × 28.3 inches — the smallest fold in the family — around a built-in 48V 20Ah pack Addmotor rates for 1,000–1,500 charge cycles and claims 105 PAS-1 miles from. One overnight charge covers a week of errands.

Addmotor Foldtan M-160 Folding eBike — Fat tires, real rack, real lights
Full-size ride

Fat tires, real rack, real lights

20×4.0 rubber floats gravel and boardwalk boards, the detachable alloy rack is rated for 55 lb, and the lights run off the main battery. Folded it's luggage; unfolded nothing about it rides small.

What stands out on the spec sheet

  • Hydraulic disc brakes and a 100mm locking fork — unique in the Foldtan family
  • Published cycle-life rating: 1,000–1,500 charges on the built-in pack
  • Smallest published fold of the three Foldtans: 34.1 × 20.9 × 28.3 in
  • $500 under Addmotor's own list price, matched and dated
  • Rack rated 25 kg (55 lb), detachable

Who the Foldtan M-160 fits

It’s your trike if

  • Folding-bike buyers who want the strongest brake and fork spec in the family — hydraulic discs, 100mm travel with lockout
  • RV, boat and hatchback owners: the published fold is 34.1 × 20.9 × 28.3 inches, smallest of the three Foldtans
  • Long-range riders — the 960Wh pack claims 105 PAS-1 miles and is rated by Addmotor for 1,000–1,500 charge cycles
  • Rack users: the detachable alloy rack carries a published 25 kg (55 lb)

Riding a different ride? We stock it

  • The budget stops at $1,399 — the Foldtan M-120 keeps the 750W fat-tire fold with the 15Ah pack.
  • You want moto styling over folding function — the Soletan M-66X trades the fold for the banana-seat cruiser look and a torque sensor.
  • Cargo numbers lead — the Graoopro hauls 450 lb with a torque sensor for the same $1,599.

Straight answers before you order

The M-160's battery is built in — it doesn't remove for indoor charging the way its siblings' packs do.

The bike folds to 34 inches, so the whole machine comes inside to the outlet — that's the design. Addmotor rates the pack for 1,000–1,500 cycles, and if a removable pack is a hard requirement, the M-120 carries one for $200 less. See the Foldtan M-120.

No UL certification claim appears on the M-160's page; its stat strip credits Samsung cells while its own Electronics table says only 'lithium-ion cell pack'.

We quote both lines and promote neither into a fact. If a printed UL claim is your building's or insurer's requirement, the Soletan M-66X publishes UL 2271 at $1,899. See the Soletan M-66X.

Addmotor's M-160 page publishes no rider-height window and no payload row beyond the stat strip's 300 lb.

The published sizing that exists — 71.3 inches unfolded, 47.6 high — is in the table below, and if fit is the open question, email us your height before you order and we'll confirm against Addmotor's data.

Addmotor prohibits NYC delivery, including billing addresses, under Local Law 39.

Everywhere else in the lower 48 ships free; on the NYC line, ask us first and we'll confirm current status.

What you get with the order

Shipping

Free shipping on every electric bike within the contiguous United States (lower 48).

Orders are prepared and dispatched within 1–3 business days. Most e-bikes arrive within 5–10 business days after dispatch, depending on location.

Ships via trusted parcel and freight carriers — UPS, FedEx, and LTL freight for larger items — with tracking emailed at dispatch. Trikes ship large; an adult signature is required at delivery.

Delivery protection

Inspect your shipment at delivery. Damage, defects, or incorrect items must be reported with photos within 48 hours; claims submitted after this window are not accepted.

Trikes with power, charging, or component issues are covered under the manufacturer warranty; Redtail coordinates repair or replacement remotely at no cost to the customer.

Returns

Addmotor's own return policy applies when you buy direct: 14 days, under 10 miles on the odometer, and a condition-based 10–30% restocking fee they set after inspection. Buy here and Redtail's terms apply instead — unopened orders within 3 days of delivery at a flat 15% restocking fee, a number you know before you pay, never a grade handed down after. Full terms: Redtail Refund & Return Policy.

Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. territories, P.O. boxes, and remote areas may incur extra charges or be excluded — contact us before ordering. Addmotor has suspended e-bike and e-trike shipments to New York City (all five boroughs) under its current shipping policy, so we cannot deliver this model to NYC addresses right now — email us and we'll confirm status before you order. Full terms: Redtail Shipping Policy · Redtail Refund & Return Policy. Addmotor publishes its own shipping and return terms, which apply to orders placed directly with Addmotor, not to orders placed here.

Owning it in your state

Built for commutes, errands and paved-path miles: fully operable pedals, assistance capped at 20 mph, and a 750-watt rated motor — right at the figures the federal low-speed electric bicycle definition (15 U.S.C. § 2085: 'less than 750 watts', less than 20 mph on motor power alone) is written around. Your state writes the street and path rules. The details for your state are in our state-by-state e-bike law guide.

Specifications as published by Addmotor at www.addmotor.com/products/foldtan-m-160, archived 2026-08-29. Figures are the manufacturer's ratings, not our test results. Metric-to-US conversions are ours and marked in parentheses.

How to read this spec sheet

Where Addmotor's own page prints more than one figure for the same spec, the table above carries the one we could verify twice, and this list names every such case and the figure we chose:

  • Battery description conflicts on Addmotor's own page: the stat strip says 'Samsung Battery 48V*20Ah'; the Electronics table says 'Built-In 48V*20Ah Lithium-ion Cell Pack' with no brand. Both are quoted; neither is promoted.
  • No UL certification claim appears anywhere on the M-160's page — stated as published.
  • No rider-height window is published for the M-160; we print the sizing rows that exist and invent nothing.
  • The 105-mile figure is a PAS-1 claim and an estimate under Addmotor's policy.

What we counted

We swept Addmotor US's own storefront on 2026-08-29 and counted its two-wheel e-bikes: 8 distinct models, 5 merchandised on its electric-bikes collection page and 3 more (Citypro E-43, Foldtan M-140, Kunlun) live as product pages but absent from that collection page at our sweep. We list all 8, price-matched to their pages the same day.

Redtail original analysis: Addmotor's electric-bikes collection page, sitemap and all 8 product pages, archived 2026-08-29 (trikes and accessories counted separately).

Warranty — and who deals with the factory (not you)

Component Coverage
Frame 2 years for the original owner
Battery (20Ah packs) 2 years (13.5Ah and 15Ah packs: 18 months); Addmotor rates its batteries at roughly 800 charge cycles
Motor 2 years (for motors purchased on or after March 1, 2024; 1 year before that date)
Parts & components 1 year — forks, stem, handlebar, headset, seat post, lights, bottom bracket, rims, wheel hub, derailleur, throttle, wiring harness, controller, display and kickstand

What it covers

Defects in materials and craftsmanship for the original owner, on the components above, for bikes bought new. Warranty terms are locked to the policy in force at purchase.

What you must do

  • Proof of purchase from Redtail (your order confirmation is enough)
  • Dated photo or video evidence of the fault — Addmotor processes no claim without it
  • Inspect on delivery: note visible damage on the delivery paperwork before signing, photograph the box and the part, and report it to us immediately — shipping-damage windows are short and carrier-dependent

Not covered

  • Normal wear and tear — tires, tubes, brake pads, rotors, bearings and similar consumables
  • Theft, vandalism, or loss
  • Damage from ignoring the manual, improper assembly, or incorrect adjustment
  • Unauthorized third-party service or parts (unless approved by Addmotor in advance, with a quote)
  • Battery damage from power surges, improper or unauthorized chargers, or poor storage
  • Abuse, neglect, modification, accidents, or use beyond intended purpose
  • Shipping damage not documented promptly with dated photos (and noted on the Bill of Lading for freight)

Addmotor Limited Warranty issued by Addmotor Tech Inc., as published on its warranty policy page. Start a claim by replying to your Redtail order confirmation with photos or video and your order number — we file the claim with Addmotor and manage it on your behalf; Addmotor ships approved replacement parts within 1–10 business days of an accepted claim.

Frequently asked questions

How fast does the Foldtan M-160 go?

20 mph assisted, per Addmotor's own stat strip — the ceiling across the Addmotor range we list.

Is Addmotor a good brand for a folding e-bike?

Addmotor has built e-bikes since 2011 and the M-160 is its best-equipped folder — hydraulic brakes and a locking fork on a published 1,000–1,500-cycle battery. Buy here and Redtail files and tracks any warranty claim for you, with US support before and after.

How long does the battery take to charge?

8–10 hours for a full charge, printed on the M-160's own spec sheet — an overnight plug-in. The pack is built in, and the 34-inch fold means the whole bike comes inside to the outlet.

Where are Addmotor bikes made?

Addmotor Tech Inc. is headquartered in El Monte, California and builds in China. Your M-160 ships free from US stock, and Redtail — a US dealer — handles warranty and support.
