Samebike M20 fat-tire electric bike in Peru, drive side in profile, with the brown bench, the black tank battery above the top tube, the wire basket in the frame, the coil-over rear shock, a round headlight and 20 × 4.0 tires with tan sidewalls

The M20 in Peru, the one color we carry: a tank-shaped battery over the top tube, a hub motor in the rear wheel, a wire basket in the frame and a long bench over a coil-over shock.

One 1200 W rear hub with an 1800 W peak and a removable 864 Wh pack, on a moped-style frame with hydraulic discs, a coil-over shock, a basket where an engine would sit and a long bench, for $999.

Quick answer

The Samebike M20 is a $999 moped-style fat-tire e-bike: one 1200 W rear hub motor (1800 W peak), a removable 48 V 18 Ah pack of 864 Wh, hydraulic disc brakes and a frame basket. For a 180 lb rider holding 15 mph on the throttle over level pavement, our review's range model works out about 47 miles.

Motor

One 1200 W hub in the rear wheel

Samebike's specification table rates the motor at 1200 W and its peak at 1800 W, the number in the M20's product title, and the stat block beside its motor panel reads "100+Nm Torque". It sits in the rear hub; the front wheel turns on a plain hub behind its disc rotor.

Range

About 69 miles at 15 mph, pedaling lightly

The 48 V 18 Ah pack in the tank above the top tube holds 864 watt-hours and comes off with its key. Holding 15 mph over level pavement with about 75 W of easy pedaling, a 180 lb rider gets about 69 miles from it by our review's model, and about 47 on the throttle alone.

Brakes

Hydraulic discs at both wheels

Both wheels stop on hydraulic discs, which Samebike's brake panel says "provide a better braking effect in any condition, ride rain or shine". For an emergency stop at speed, the manual's order is the rear brake first, then the front.

Samebike's photograph of the M20's fork top: the neco stem on the upper crown, a red COMPRESSION knob on one fork leg and a gold cap on the other
Comfort

A lockable fork and a coil-over rear shock

The specification table lists an "Adjustable front fork+rear suspension". Samebike's fork panel has you lock the fork on flat surfaces for a steady ride and free it on bumpy roads, and a coil-over shock sits under the long bench.

Samebike's photograph of the M20's wire basket in the frame's lower triangle, with its bars and perforated panels
Cargo

A basket where the engine would be

Samebike's "Loading Space" panel calls it a "Mid-Mounted Shopping cart" that "helps you carry groceries, gear and more when you're out on the roads or trails". It sits in the frame's lower triangle, below the battery, so the load rides low between the wheels.

Samebike's lighting image of the M20, two photographs joined on a diagonal: the caged round headlight switched on, and the red tail light glowing under the rear of the bench
Lights and controls

A headlight, a tail light, a horn and USB

Samebike's headlight panel promises "a large headlight", and the manual lists an electric horn and a 5 V 1 A USB port. A thumb throttle and a control pad sit at the left grip, the pad stepping through five assist levels, and the color display shows your speed, trip, battery and assist level.

What stands out on the spec sheet

  • Hydraulic disc brakes at $999, with a lockable fork and a coil-over rear shock.
  • A frame basket Samebike calls a "Mid-Mounted Shopping cart", so groceries ride low between the wheels.
  • An IP54 rating, an electric horn and a 5 V 1 A USB port, all listed in the M20 manual.
  • A tank-shaped pack that comes off with its key, so it can charge indoors while the bike stays parked.
  • Walk assist under 6 km/h when you hold the minus key, for pushing the bike beside you.

Who the M20 fits

Samebike recommends the M20 for riders from 5'6" to 7'2". Its bench is fixed, so fit comes down to your feet at a stop: sitting where Samebike's drawing starts the G line, 32.2 inches up, 72 of every 100 riders at 5'8" put both feet flat on the ground, 96 at 5'10" and 30 at 5'6"; at the listed 32.5 inches the same heights score 56, 90 and 20.

It’s your bike if

  • You want a moped-style bike with a basket in the frame and hydraulic discs, for $999
  • You ride on the throttle or with easy pedaling, sitting in the way a moped rides
  • You stand about 5'10" or taller, where 90 or more of every 100 riders sit flat-footed on either reading of the bench
  • Your rides fit one pack: about 47 miles at 15 mph on the throttle for a 180 lb rider on level pavement

Want something different? We stock it

  • If you are under about 5'8" and want both feet flat at a stop, the RS-A02 Plus pairs the same 1200 W and 1800 W motor figures with hydraulic discs and an 816 Wh pack, for $1,199, on a frame 95 of every 100 riders at 5'0" can stand over barefoot.
  • If you want to pedal long distances at full leg extension, the RS-A08 II carries a seat post that Samebike's drawing takes to the pedaling formula's height for 85 of every 100 riders at 5'8", with a fork, a rear shock and hydraulic discs, for $1,399.
  • If one pack will not cover your rides, the M20-III carries a 1000 W hub motor in each wheel and two 48 V 18 Ah packs, 1,728 Wh in all, with the same size-and-fit list figures, for $1,499.

Our M20 review sets each height from 5'0" to 6'4" against Samebike's drawing of the M20: where your feet land at a stop on all three bench readings, how far you lean to the grips and how much weight your hands carry.

Owning it in your state

Samebike's US page gives the M20 no e-bike class, so your state's own definition decides where you may ride it.

Those definitions look at what Samebike publishes for this bike: a 1200 W motor with an 1800 W peak, 50 km/h (31.1 mph) on the specification table, and a thumb throttle that moves it without pedaling. No CPSC recall names Samebike as of September 28, 2026, by our search of the federal recall database.

The rules for where you ride are in our state-by-state e-bike law guide.

Samebike’s figures, from its US product page and specification table (us.samebike.com/products/m20-off-road-peak-1800w-fat-tire-electric-bike) and its owner’s manual, read September 28, 2026. Metric-to-US conversions are ours.

What we counted. By the US specification tables of the eleven Samebike models we sell, the M20 carries the highest peak rating of the six priced at $999 or less, 1800 W against 1500 W on the VOYAGER, the LO26 Plus and the RS-A02 Pro and 800 W on the two CY20 Pros, and the second-largest battery among them, 48 V 18 Ah (864 Wh), after the VOYAGER's 960 Wh and ahead of 720 Wh on the LO26 Plus and the RS-A02 Pro and 624 and 468 Wh on the two CY20 Pros.

From the US specification table and page of each of the eleven Samebike models on our shelf and our own listing prices, read October 2, 2026.

Where Samebike prints two figures

Where Samebike's page, manual, FAQ and gallery give the M20 two or more figures for one thing, each figure is listed here, with the one the table above uses.

  • Weight: 58 kg (127.9 lb) on the specification table, equal to the manual's packaged weight of 127.8 lb (58 kg); the manual gives the bike alone as 110.2 lb (50 kg), the size-and-fit drawing prints 94.7 lb and gallery image 17 prints 70.5 lb. The table above uses 58 kg, the heaviest.
  • Load: 150 kg (330 lb) on the drawing, gallery image 17 and the manual; 180 kg on the specification table and the stat strip. Plan on 150 kg.
  • Top speed: 50 km/h on the specification table, the stat strip and the motor panel; 25 km/h in the manual.
  • Range: 70 km on pure electric and a 140 km "Max range" on the specification table, 70–140 km on the stat strip, 60 km pure electric, 90 km assisted and 140 km at level 1 on the battery panel, "Up to 65 km+ on PAS mode" in the FAQ, 45–62 miles on gallery image 16, and the manual's two bands as printed above.
  • Frame: "Iron" on the specification table, "6061 Aluminum Alloy" in the manual.
  • Throttle: "Thumb throttle" on the specification table and a "Thumb Turn" feature panel, beside another panel titled "Half Twist Throttle"; Samebike's photographs show the thumb lever.
  • Tires: Chao Yang in Samebike's gallery photographs, INNOVA in the manual's.
  • Seat height: the size-and-fit list prints 32.5 inches, and gallery image 17 prints 32.4.
  • Charge time: 4–6 hours on the specification table and gallery image 16, 4–8 hours in the manual.
  • Warranty: the policy block on the M20's page reads "12 Months Warranty", and Samebike's warranty policy page gives the frame 3 years and batteries, motors and other accessories 1 year; the warranty cards below quote that page.

Straight answers before you order

The bench is fixed: at 5'6", 30 of every 100 riders reach the ground flat-footed from the point where Samebike's drawing starts its G line, and 20 at the listed 32.5 inches.

Send us your barefoot inseam and we will read it against Samebike's drawing before you order. Under about 5'8", the RS-A02 Plus keeps the same motor figures on a frame 95 of every 100 riders at 5'0" can stand over. See the RS-A02 Plus. Read the stop table.

From 5'2" up, the bench sits lower than any rider's pedaling-formula saddle height: 6.6 inches under the median rider's at 5'8".

That low seat is what puts your feet down at a stop, and it suits the throttle and easy pedaling. To pedal long miles at full leg extension, the RS-A08 II's seat post reaches the formula height for 85 of every 100 riders at 5'8". See the RS-A08 II. Read the bench table.

Samebike's longest range figure, 140 km (87 miles), is the specification table's "Max range", which its battery panel ties to pedal-assist level 1, the gentlest of five.

Steady-speed figures plan better: a 180 lb rider on level pavement gets about 47 miles at 15 mph on the throttle and 69 with easy pedaling, or 35 and 52 with a quarter of the pack held back. See the range tables.

At 58 kg (127.9 lb) by its specification table, 68.9 inches long and 44.3 tall by its size-and-fit list, and on a frame that does not fold, the M20 is a bike for a garage or a ground-floor room.

Plan two people for any lift and take the pack off first. If it has to fit a car trunk or a closet, the RS-A02 Plus folds and carries an 816 Wh pack. See how the RS-A02 Plus folds.

Samebike prints two top speeds for the M20: 50 km/h on the specification table and 25 km/h in the manual.

Email us before you order and we will get the delivered bike's power and speed from Samebike in writing, so you can read them against your state's definition before the first ride.

Manuals and assembly

The M20 manual's assembly chapter: set the handlebar where you like it and tighten the stem's four screws, buckle the headlight onto the fork and fit the front fender, drop the front wheel in with its disc toward the brake and lock the quick-release lever, connect the power plug beside the rear shock by lining up its arrows and tightening its nut clockwise, then thread the L and R pedals, the left one counterclockwise. Inside the box: two large wrenches, four hex keys, a screwdriver and the charger. If a step stalls you, email us its number and we will talk you through it.

Warranty cover, and who files the claim

A fault is our job

If the bike will not power on, will not charge, shows an error code or has a faulty component, send photos or video and your order number. We open the claim with Samebike and coordinate the repair or replacement remotely, start to finish.

What Samebike publishes

Samebike’s warranty policy states: “Frame warranty for 3 years, batteries, motors and other accessories warranty for 1 year.” After the first year, a battery earns “a prorated credit, based on months of service,” toward a new one.

Samebike’s terms, from its Samebike Warranty Policy (us.samebike.com/pages/warranty-policy), read September 26, 2026.

Wear items

Samebike’s policy lists brake pads, rotors, spokes, tires and tubes, chains, chain rings, cassettes and the crankset among the parts not typically covered, as ordinary wear and tear.

Frequently asked questions

How far can the Samebike M20 go on one charge?

On level pavement with a 180 lb rider, our review's model gives about 47 miles at a steady 15 mph on the throttle and about 69 with easy pedaling. Samebike's own figures run from 70 km (43 miles) on pure electric to a 140 km (87-mile) "Max range" on its specification table.

What is the top speed of the Samebike M20?

Samebike's specification table, stat strip and motor panel print 50 km/h (31.1 mph), and the M20 manual prints 25 km/h. Email us and we will get Samebike's written figure for the bike you order.

What's the difference between the M20 and the M20-III?

The M20 has one 1200 W rear hub (1800 W peak) and one 864 Wh pack for $999; the M20-III has a 1000 W hub in each wheel and two packs, 1,728 Wh, for $1,499. The two carry the same size-and-fit list figures, a fixed bench and hydraulic discs.

Is the M20 street legal, and what class is it?

Samebike gives it no class, so your state's definition decides where you may ride it, and that definition reads Samebike's figures: a 1200 W motor with an 1800 W peak, 50 km/h on the specification table and a thumb throttle.

How much does the Samebike M20 weigh?

We plan on 58 kg (127.9 lb), its specification table's figure. The manual gives 50 kg (110.2 lb) for the bike and 58 kg packed, the size-and-fit drawing 94.7 lb and gallery image 17 70.5 lb.

What is the M20's weight limit?

Plan on 150 kg (330 lb), printed on Samebike's drawing, on gallery image 17 and in the manual; the specification table and stat strip give 180 kg. Rider and cargo of 202.1 lb or less keeps you inside that figure even if it counts the bike at 127.9 lb.

How much torque does the M20 have?

"100+Nm", on Samebike's stat block and gallery image 18; our review's range model uses 100 N·m, the low end of that figure.

Can you replace the M20's battery?

Yes: with the power off, turn the key clockwise, push the pack forward and lift it away. When it is due, send us your order number and we will source the same 48 V 18 Ah pack.

How long does the M20 take to charge?

4 to 6 hours by Samebike's specification table and gallery image 16, 4 to 8 by the manual; the 3 A charger fills the 18 Ah pack in about 6.0 hours by simple division.

What does a full charge of the M20 cost?

About 16 cents at the US average residential rate for July 2026, 18.31 cents per kilowatt-hour (U.S. Energy Information Administration), before the charger's own losses; at 15 mph on the throttle that comes to about a third of a cent a mile.

What rider height fits the M20?

Samebike recommends 5'6" to 7'2". On its drawing, 72 of every 100 riders at 5'8" sit flat-footed on the bench where the G line starts and 56 at the listed 32.5 inches; at 5'10" the two readings give 96 and 90.

Does the Samebike M20 have a throttle?

Yes, a thumb throttle that moves it without pedaling, plus five pedal-assist levels; the display starts each ride at level 1.

Where do I find the M20 manual?

Samebike's Manuals and Guides page links the January 2023 M20 manual, listed in the sources below; it covers assembly, charging, the battery key, the display and the warranty.

Can I pay for the M20 in installments?

On September 28, 2026 Shop Pay's widget offered 4 interest-free installments, with sample plans of $333.00 every two weeks for six weeks at 0% APR, $999.00 in total, or $90.17 a month for 12 months at 15% APR, $1,082.04 in total, subject to an eligibility check.

Rates from 0-36% APR. Payment options through Shop Pay Installments are subject to an eligibility check and are provided by these lending partners: affirm.com/lenders. Options depend on your purchase amount, and a down payment may be required. State notices to consumers: affirm.com/licenses.

What tire pressure does the M20 use?

The manual sends you to the tire's own sidewall ("According to the actual information on the tire") and asks for a pressure check before you ride, since low pressure shortens your range.

Is the M20 good for off-road riding?

Samebike's FAQ places it "between electric bicycles and electric dirt bikes", and it rolls on 20 × 4.0 tires with a lockable fork and a coil-over rear shock; each trail's land manager decides whether a throttle bike may ride there.

Does the M20 come with a mirror?

No. Samebike's FAQ asks riders to slow down, turn their heads and signal by hand when they check the traffic behind them.

Is Samebike a legit brand?

Guangzhou Sameway Electric Bicycle Co., Ltd. makes it, and Samebike's US about page gives 2004 as the company's start. The CPSC listed no Samebike recall on September 28, 2026, and a warranty claim on your M20 comes to us first.

exceptional customer service!

My teenage son ordered this bike, but unfortunately it began turning off while riding within a week. Milad was on it immediately, even video calling us multiple times to properly diagnose the issue. A replacement battery was sent and there have been no issues since. Overall a great bike!
