YVY K20 Fat Tire Electric Bike, 1500W Moto-Style
The K20 is the middle of YVY's three-bike moto line: the Lite's frame and stance, with a 1500W motor and hydraulic brakes instead of mechanical ones.
The K20 is YVY's mid-range moto-style fat-tire e-bike: a 1500W rear hub motor, a removable 48V 20Ah battery, 20x4.0 tires and hydraulic dual brakes, for $769. YVY rates it to 50 miles on throttle and 75 with pedal assist, and caps total load at 330 lb.

Buy it if

- Short, load-heavy trips: 960Wh is a lot of battery for a $769 bike, and the 330 lb ceiling leaves real room for a rider plus cargo
- Mixed surfaces. The 20 x 4.0 tires and front-and-rear suspension are the reason to pick this over a rigid commuter
- Anyone who would rather have hydraulic brakes than the mechanical discs on the cheaper K20 Lite

- You need a bike that meets the federal low-speed electric bicycle definition — YVY rates this motor at 1500W, and that definition stops at 750W (see the legal note below)
- You want a published curb weight before you buy: YVY does not state one anywhere on this listing

1500W, and the number matters legally
YVY rates the rear hub at 1500W with 85 N·m of torque and a 35-degree climbing claim. That is a lot of motor for $769, and it is also the figure that puts this bike outside the federal low-speed electric bicycle definition, which stops at 750W. Both facts are true at once, and the section below quotes the statute so you can check your own state's rules before you ride.
960Wh, and it comes off the frame
The 48V 20Ah pack works out to 960 watt-hours — our arithmetic, from YVY's own volts and amp-hours. It is removable, so it charges at a desk instead of wherever the bike is parked, and YVY quotes about 4 to 6 hours for a full charge. Replacement packs for this model are sold separately at 48V 20Ah.
Hydraulic, front and rear
This is the clearest hardware line between the K20 and the cheaper K20 Lite, which uses mechanical discs. YVY claims hydraulic dual brakes cut average stopping distance by half against mechanical ones. Treat the percentage as a manufacturer claim; treat the hardware difference as real, because it is specified on the page.
5 ft 4 in to 6 ft 2 in, 330 lb all-in
YVY's own FAQ gives a recommended rider height of 5.4 to 6.2 feet and a maximum load of 330 lb. That ceiling is total — rider, clothing, pack and anything strapped to the rear rack — so subtract your cargo before you compare it against your own weight.
Where this bike sits in US law
Bikes in this power class raise one question before any other, so here is the statute rather than a summary of it. Federal law defines the category this way:
the term “low-speed electric bicycle” means a two- or three-wheeled vehicle with fully operable pedals and an electric motor of less than 750 watts (1 h.p.), whose maximum speed on a paved level surface, when powered solely by such a motor while ridden by an operator who weighs 170 pounds, is less than 20 mph.

YVY publishes this bike's motor as 1500W brushless rear hub (YVY's rating) and its top speed as 28+ mph, as printed by YVY ("28+++ mph"). Set those figures against the threshold above and you can see for yourself that the manufacturer's own numbers fall outside the federal low-speed electric bicycle definition.
What that means in practice is decided by your state, not by us. Many states apply moped, motor-driven cycle or off-highway vehicle rules to machines above the federal threshold, and those rules can reach registration, insurance, licensing, helmet requirements and which paths and trails you may use. Some states set their own wattage ceilings that differ from the federal one. We cannot tell you how your state treats this bike, and we are not going to guess: check before you ride on any public road, bike path or trail.

The honest ledger
Green flags
- The battery is genuinely large for the money: 48V x 20Ah is 960Wh, which is more pack than most sub-$800 fat-tire bikes carry
- Hydraulic dual brakes are specified, not mechanical — the step up from the K20 Lite is a real hardware difference, not a trim name
- Front fork and rear shock are both specified, so the fat tires are not doing all of the suspension work
- This model's range claims are internally consistent: the bullets and the FAQ on YVY's page both say 50 miles throttle and 75 miles pedal-assist, which is not true of every bike in this range
Red flags
- No published weight. YVY states no curb weight for this bike anywhere on the listing, and a 960Wh moto-style frame is not a light object to carry up steps
- "IP5 waterproof" is not a complete IP rating — a full code carries two digits (IP55) or an X placeholder (IPX5). We reproduce what YVY printed rather than guessing which one it meant
- Certification does not cover this bike. YVY links an EN 15194:2017 test report from every page, but that report names model FM-002/CDDA20, a cargo electric bicycle, and no UL 2849 or UL 2271 certification is published for anything in the range

How to read this spec sheet
Manufacturer pages contain marketing, and marketing sometimes disagrees with the marketing an inch below it. Rather than quietly pick numbers, here is every place YVY's own page disagrees with itself for this model, every figure it leaves out, and what we did about each:
- YVY publishes no specification table for any of its bikes. Every figure above was read out of the marketing copy on its own product page, and the exact sentence behind each one is recorded in research/yvy/specs_20260825.json.
- Top speed is printed on YVY's page as "28+++ mph". We render it as "28+ mph" for legibility and quote the original here rather than rounding it into a number YVY did not write.
- "IP5 waterproof" is reproduced exactly as printed. A complete IP code needs two digits or an X placeholder, so we cannot tell whether IP55 or IPX5 was intended, and we do not guess.
- Battery energy in watt-hours is ours, not YVY's: 48 volts x 20 amp-hours = 960 Wh. The multiplication is shown so you can check it.
- This bike is listed twice on YVY's own storefront — at $769 with the SKU and the full image set, and at $799 on a second listing whose description is byte-for-byte identical. We price against the first. A third listing at $1,299 carries different photography of the same bike.
- YVY links two PDFs from every page: an EN 15194:2017 test report (report ATS240329142LR, issued 2 April 2024 by Shenzhen ATS Testing Technology, for model FM-002/CDDA20, a cargo electric bicycle) and the EUIPO trade mark certificate for "Ridstar". Neither covers this model. We say so rather than let a sitewide certificate imply cover it does not give.
What we counted
We pulled YVY's entire live catalogue on 2026-08-25 — all 46 published listings — and worked out what is actually on sale. Of 13 bike listings, only 7 are distinct bikes: 6 are the same machines listed a second time, which we proved from byte-identical descriptions, shared image files and, in three cases, by opening the photographs. What it covers
Defects in hardware or firmware under regular use during the warranty period. YVY states it will repair or replace, at no charge, a product or part that proves defective because of hardware malfunction under regular use and maintenance.
What you must do
- Keep proof of purchase — YVY excludes claims with no associated purchasing proof, invoice or receipt
- Report the fault inside the 1-year window; YVY dates coverage from receipt or purchase, whichever is later
- Keep the original packaging for a period after delivery, which YVY asks for directly in its product listings
Not covered
- Conditions, malfunctions or damage not resulting from defects in hardware or firmware
- Claims with no purchase proof, invoice or receipt, and no authorised dealer confirmation
- Return shipping when the product is found to have no quality issue, or is confirmed working by YVY's after-sales engineers

YVY Limited Warranty issued by YVY Bikes, as published on its warranty page. One caveat worth knowing: that page lists its “Warranted Products” as the Q20, Upgraded Q20 and Q20Pro — model names that do not appear on YVY's current storefront. The 1-year motor, battery and charger term above is therefore taken from this bike's own product listing, which states it directly. Orders are prepared and dispatched within 1–3 business days. Most e-bikes arrive within 5–10 business days after dispatch, depending on location.
Ships via trusted parcel and freight carriers — UPS, FedEx, and LTL freight for larger items — with tracking emailed at dispatch.
On delivery
Inspect your shipment at delivery. Damage, defects, or incorrect items must be reported with photos within 48 hours; claims submitted after this window are not accepted.
Bikes with power, charging, or component issues are covered under the manufacturer warranty; Redtail coordinates repair or replacement remotely at no cost to the customer.
Returns
Change-of-mind returns accepted only on unopened, factory-sealed items requested within 72 hours (3 days) of delivery, with a 15% restocking fee plus return shipping. Once a box is opened or a bike is ridden, it is no longer eligible.
Order cancellations carry a 3% transaction fee, because card-processing fees are non-recoverable.

Frequently asked questions
What is the YVY K20's top speed?
YVY prints "28+++ mph" in pure electric mode on a full charge. That is the manufacturer's figure, not a measured one, and the plus signs are theirs. Actual speed depends on rider weight, terrain, tire pressure and state of charge — and on whatever speed limit applies where you ride.
How far can the K20 actually go on one charge?
YVY claims up to 50 miles on throttle alone and up to 75 miles with pedal assist, and its bullets and FAQ agree on both numbers. Manufacturer range figures are best-case: they assume a light rider, flat ground, low assist and no wind. Plan on materially less in hills or cold, and treat the 960Wh pack rather than the mileage claim as the honest measure of how much energy you are carrying.
Is a 1500W electric bike street legal?
It depends entirely on your state, and the federal definition is the place to start. 15 U.S.C. 2085(b) defines a "low-speed electric bicycle" as having "an electric motor of less than 750 watts (1 h.p.)" and a motor-only top speed under 20 mph for a 170 lb rider. YVY rates this motor at 1500W, so the manufacturer's own figure sits outside that definition, and many states then treat such a vehicle under moped or off-highway rules instead. Check your state before you ride on a road or a bike path — we cannot answer it for your jurisdiction.
What height and weight does the K20 fit?
YVY's own FAQ recommends a rider height of 5 ft 4 in to 6 ft 2 in and states a maximum load capacity of 330 lb. That figure is the total the bike is rated to carry, so count yourself plus anything you are carrying, not just yourself.
What battery does the K20 use, and can I buy a spare?
A removable 48V 20Ah lithium-ion pack, which is 960 Wh. YVY sells replacement packs for this model line separately, listing the K20 variant as a 48V 20Ah lithium battery. A second pack is the only real way to extend range on a ride, because charging takes about 4 to 6 hours.
How long does the K20 take to charge?
YVY states about 4 to 6 hours for a full charge. Because the pack is removable, you can charge it away from the bike, which matters if the bike lives in a garage or a hallway and the outlet does not.
Why does the K20 have fat tires?
The 20 x 4.0 in tires run at lower pressure than a standard tire, which spreads the bike's contact patch and adds grip on sand, gravel, snow and broken pavement. They also absorb small impacts, which is why fat-tire bikes feel calmer on bad surfaces. The trade is rolling resistance and weight: fat tires cost you some efficiency on smooth tarmac.
Who makes YVY?
YVY's own company-address page names the business behind the brand as HK Ridstar Trade Limited, and its warranty page routes service verification through Ridstar.
