The YVY K16 is the small-wheel pick at $749: a 1500W motor and a 48V 20Ah (960Wh) pack on 16x4.0 fat wheels, sized for riders from 5 ft 2 in and rated to 330 lb. Free US shipping, a US warranty we file for you, and Shop Pay instalments at checkout.
YVY is not a separate maker. Its own company-address page names the business as "HK RIDSTAR TRADE LIMITED", its warranty page routes service to a ridstar.net support address, every page it publishes links the Ridstar trade-mark certificate, and ridstar.com runs its own "YVY Ebikes" collection. Its warranty page lists as "Warranted Products" the "YVY Q20 1200W", the "YVY Upgraded Q20 1500W" and the "YVY Q20Pro 2000W", the model family the US Consumer Product Safety Commission has told owners to stop using.
On published specifications (1500W, 20Ah) the K16 is closest to the Ridstar Q20 1500W, a model named in both CPSC warnings; the match is on motor and capacity only, and no notice names a K16. No regulator's notice names this model as of September 11, 2026.
The CPSC issued two stop-use warnings on that family in 2026: March 19, "Ridstar Q20 and Q20 Pro", batteries and wires that "can ignite" (11 fires); and June 25, "Ridstar Q20 and Q20 Lite", a front wheel that "can detach without warning" (32 reports, 31 injuries). The manufacturer "has refused to agree to an acceptable recall" and "has been unresponsive". No notice names a YVY model. Whether a K-badged bike shares the front wheel, fork or battery those notices describe is published by neither company, and this page will not guess.
Before either US notice, the UK Office for Product Safety and Standards published Product Safety Report 2506-0011 on 19 June 2025 for the "Ridstar E-Bikes Q20-Plus, Q20-Mini, E26 Pro and Chargers", risk level "Serious": "the charger has poor quality soldering, and the transformer does not meet the minimum requirements for creepage and clearance distances." Its corrective measure: "The import has been rejected at the border."
Two product-liability suits over a detached Ridstar front wheel were filed in 2026 and are undecided: Cunanan v. Amazon.com Services LLC (D. Or., filed April 7, 2026) alleges a Ridstar Q20 caused "numerous facial fractures"; L.E. v. Walmart Inc. (Palm Beach County, filed July 30, 2026, removed to S.D. Fla.) alleges a Walmart-bought Ridstar's front wheel "unexpectedly detached during normal operation" and injured a minor. Both are allegations, not findings.

Why the K16
16 x 4.0 — the reason this bike exists
Every other bike YVY sells rides on 20 x 4.0 wheels. This one drops to 16 inches while keeping the 4.0-inch width, which lowers the whole bike and shortens it. That is what lets YVY recommend it from 5 ft 2 in rather than 5 ft 4 in. The trade is real: a smaller wheel has a worse angle of attack on potholes and edges, so it is a better city bike than a rough-ground bike.
The K20's full 1500W, unchanged
YVY rates this hub at 1500W with 85 N·m of torque and a 35-degree climbing claim — identical to the K20's figures. Smaller wheels with the same motor means more torque at the rim, which is why this bike feels quick off the line. It also means the same legal position: 1500W is double the 750W ceiling in the federal low-speed electric bicycle definition.
960Wh, and a charging spec with a real number in it
The 48V 20Ah pack is the same 960 Wh as the K20's, by our arithmetic from YVY's volts and amp-hours. This page also gives the most specific charging figure YVY publishes anywhere: 4 to 6 hours at 3A. Elsewhere in the range they quote hours without an amperage, so this is the one page where you can actually check the claim.
5 ft 2 in to 6 ft 0 in, 330 lb all-in
YVY's FAQ gives a recommended height of 5.2 to 6.0 feet for this model, against 5.4 to 6.2 for the 20-inch bikes. If you are near either end, that two-inch shift is the whole reason to choose between them. The 330 lb maximum load is unchanged and, as everywhere in this range, it counts rider plus cargo together.
What stands out on the spec sheet

Owning it in your state
Built for trails, sand, private land and off-road riding. YVY publishes a 1500W motor and a top speed of 28+ mph. Federal law defines a "low-speed electric bicycle" as having an electric motor of less than 750 watts and a motor-only top speed under 20 mph (15 U.S.C. 2085(b)), so this bike sits outside that definition on the manufacturer's own numbers, and states differ in how they treat machines above it. How to read this spec sheet
- Both range rows carry two figures because YVY's page states them twice, differently. The bullet list says "up to 50 miles in pure electric mode and up to 75 miles in pedal assist mode"; the FAQ lower down the same page says 30 and 50. We print both and adopt neither.
- The product handle on YVY's own URL reads q16 while the page title and body both read K16. We use K16, the name printed on the page.
- The 16-inch wheel size is stated twice on the page, in the bullet heading and in the body text, so it is the one geometry figure here that is unambiguous.
- Battery energy in watt-hours is our arithmetic: 48 volts x 20 amp-hours = 960 Wh.
- "IP5 waterproof" is reproduced as printed. A complete IP code needs two digits or an X placeholder, and we do not guess which was meant.
- YVY publishes no specification table for any bike. Every figure here was read out of marketing prose, with the sentence behind each recorded in research/yvy/specs_20260825.json.
- YVY links two PDFs from every page: an EN 15194:2017 test report (report ATS240329142LR, issued 2 April 2024 by Shenzhen ATS Testing Technology, for model FM-002/CDDA20, a cargo electric bicycle) and the EUIPO trade mark certificate for "Ridstar". Neither covers this model. We say so rather than let a sitewide certificate imply cover it does not give.

What is the difference between the YVY K16 and the K20?
Wheel size and brakes. The K16 rides on 16 x 4.0 wheels against the K20's 20 x 4.0, which makes it a smaller bike suited to riders from 5 ft 2 in rather than 5 ft 4 in. It also uses mechanical disc brakes where the K20 has hydraulic ones. The motor (1500W), the battery (48V 20Ah, 960 Wh), the 7-speed drivetrain and the 330 lb load ceiling are the same on both. The K16 is $20 cheaper.
How far can the K16 actually go on one charge?
YVY publishes two answers on the same page. Its bullets claim up to 50 miles on throttle and 75 with pedal assist; its FAQ, further down that page, says 30 and 50. We print both because both are the manufacturer's. The pack is 48V x 20Ah, about 960 Wh — the same energy as the K20 — so the honest expectation is K20-like range, adjusted for however you ride.
What is the K16's top speed?
YVY prints "28+++ mph" in pure electric mode on a full charge. That is a manufacturer figure, not a measured one. On 16-inch wheels the same motor produces more torque at the rim and a lower top gear, so treat the number as the ceiling of what the controller allows rather than what you will hold on flat road.
Is a 1500W electric bike street legal?
It depends on your state. 15 U.S.C. 2085(b) defines a "low-speed electric bicycle" as having "an electric motor of less than 750 watts (1 h.p.)" and a motor-only top speed under 20 mph for a 170 lb rider. YVY rates this motor at 1500W, so its own figure sits outside that federal definition, and many states then treat such a vehicle under moped or off-highway rules. Check your state's rules before riding on a road or bike path.
What height and weight does the K16 fit?
YVY's FAQ recommends a rider height of 5 ft 2 in to 6 ft 0 in for this model — the lowest starting height in its range — with a maximum load capacity of 330 lb. That load figure covers rider and cargo together.
Are 16-inch wheels worse than 20-inch on rough ground?
Generally yes, and it is geometry rather than opinion: a smaller wheel meets an edge or a pothole at a steeper angle, so it drops into gaps a larger wheel rolls across. The 4.0-inch tire width offsets some of that by cushioning impacts, which is why this is still a capable bike on gravel and packed dirt. If most of your riding is broken trail at speed, the 20-inch K20 is the better tool.
How long does the K16 take to charge?
YVY states 4 to 6 hours at 3A — the only charging spec in its range that names an amperage rather than just hours. The pack is removable, so it can charge indoors away from the bike.
Why does the URL say Q16 when the bike is called K16?
We do not know, and we are not going to invent a reason. YVY's own product URL contains q16 while the page title and the body copy both say K16. We list it as the K16, the name printed on the page, and flag the mismatch here rather than quietly picking one.
