Why this bike

Eunorau FAT-HS Full-Suspension Mid-Drive Fat eBike (Hunter X8) — A shock at both ends, on a fat frame
Suspension

A shock at both ends, on a fat frame

An RST Guide fork with 75 mm of travel up front and a KS-388RL coil shock at the back. Fat tires alone take the edge off a rutted trail; a rear shock keeps the back wheel on the ground when the trail stops being smooth altogether.

At 79.4 lb it is 8.8 lb lighter than the SPECTER-S 3.0, the other 26×4 full-suspension bike we carry, and it is the firmer of the two: 75 mm at the fork against the SPECTER-S's 140 mm. That is a chassis set up to stay composed under load on a fire road rather than to soak up a rock garden.

Eunorau FAT-HS Full-Suspension Mid-Drive Fat eBike (Hunter X8) — A mid-drive multiplies torque. A hub motor cannot
Motor

A mid-drive multiplies torque. A hub motor cannot

The Bafang M615 sits at the cranks, so its 160 N·m goes through the same nine gears your legs do. Drop into a low gear on a steep, loose climb and the motor gets the same mechanical advantage you get.

A hub motor delivers a fixed output at the wheel with no gearing behind it, which is why it bogs down exactly where a mid-drive digs in.

Eunorau FAT-HS Full-Suspension Mid-Drive Fat eBike (Hunter X8) — Shimano Altus, named part by part
Drivetrain

Shimano Altus, named part by part

An SL-M2010 shifter, an RD-M2000 rear derailleur and a CS-HG400-9 cassette running 11–34T, on a 42T forged alloy chainring with 170 mm cranks.

Every one of those is a catalogue Shimano part your local shop can order, which matters more on a bike you intend to ride a long way from a road than a fancier group would.

Eunorau FAT-HS Full-Suspension Mid-Drive Fat eBike (Hunter X8) — 26×4 Kenda tires and hydraulic discs that cut the motor
Grip and stopping

26×4 Kenda tires and hydraulic discs that cut the motor

Kenda Krusade Sport tires in 26×4.0 with K-Shield protection put a wide, low-pressure contact patch on sand, gravel, snow and wet root.

Eunorau's own 180 mm hydraulic discs stop it, and the levers carry motor cut-off switches — touch either brake and the assist drops out before the pads do the work.

Which frame, and is it your size?

Eunorau builds the FAT-HS in a 17" and a 19", and publishes a fit range of 5'3" to 6'4" across the two. The seatpost carries a Promax quick-release collar and a Selle Royal saddle that sets between 34" and 43.3" off the ground, so there is real adjustment inside each size.

Eunorau's published geometry table, eunorau-ebike.com/products/fat-hs, read 1 September 2026.

The 19" is the one to buy if you ever want the second battery. Eunorau states that the optional second pack does not fit the 17" frame, and that on the 19" the rear shock must be locked out while it is installed. Both frames cost the same $3,449 here, so if the long-range option matters to you at all, take the 19" — it costs nothing extra to keep the door open.

Straight answers before you order

The 80-mile figure needs the second battery

Eunorau publishes “up to 80 miles” explicitly with dual batteries. On the 720 Wh the bike ships with, plan on the mid-thirties in the terrain this bike is bought for. If a single-charge number is what you are shopping on, the FAT-HD 1.0 Pro carries 1,200 Wh on one pack for $1,999.

It is a heavy bike

36 kg (79.4 lb) with the battery in. That weight is what the rear shock, the fat rims and the mid-drive cost, and on the trail it reads as planted rather than sluggish. Lifting it onto a car rack is a two-person job, and a hitch rack rated for e-bikes is the sane answer.

Cadence assist, not torque

The M615 reads pedal rotation rather than pedal force, so assist arrives at a set rate once you turn the cranks instead of tracking how hard you push. On loose climbs, where you want steady power rather than power that fades as your legs do, that is the behaviour you actually want. Riders who prefer a torque-sensing road feel are better served by the SPECTER-S 3.0.

Charging is an overnight job

The supplied charger is a 2.0 A unit. Against a 720 Wh pack that is a slow, cool charge rather than a fast one — put it on when you get home and it is ready in the morning. A second charger for the truck is the usual fix and we can quote you one.

Rack and fenders are extra

Eunorau lists both as optional on this frame, and sells a rack-and-fender set made for it. Say the word when you order and we will put the matching set in the same shipment so it arrives with the bike rather than a week later.

Two frame sizes, one decision

If you are between sizes, take the 19": same price, taller stack, and the only frame the second battery fits. Tell us your inseam before you order and we will check it against the standover for you.

What Eunorau says about UL

Eunorau marks this model “UL CERTIFIED: Yes” on its own product page, without naming which standard or publishing a certificate number. If your building, campus or insurer asks for a specific listing, say so when you order and we will request the certificate from Eunorau and put it in front of you before anything ships.

How the FAT-HS compares with the rest of our Eunorau range

Two of our Eunorau bikes are full-suspension on 26×4 tires, and they are set up for different jobs. The FAT-HS is the lighter and firmer of the pair; the SPECTER-S 3.0 has nearly twice the fork travel and costs less. Every figure below is Eunorau's own.

Every figure above is read from Eunorau's own product page at eunorau-ebike.com/products/fat-hs, verified 2026-09-01, and reproduced as Eunorau publishes it. Where Eunorau prints more than one value we give the one from its specification table and record the other here: the page also shows a CDC6 display, a KS-388L 190 mm rear shock, and a 77.1 lb weight against the 36 kg (79.4 lb) in its geometry table. We publish no figure Eunorau does not publish, and we hold no test of our own on this model.

Manuals and documentation

In the box

Eunorau lists a printed manual and a tool kit as included with the bike, so you are not assembling it off a phone screen.

Everything else

Eunorau publishes its display, controller, shock and accessory documents as separate files rather than one book per bike. Tell us which one you want when you order and we will send you our copy with the shipping confirmation, so you are not hunting through a supplier download hub for it.

Where this bike is ridden

The FAT-HS is built and sold for trail, fire road and back-country riding — loose ground, private land, and the kind of access route that gets you to a hunting stand before first light. That is what the tires, the gearing and the shock are for.

Eunorau publishes it at 1000 W and 28 mph. The federal definition of a low-speed electric bicycle in 15 U.S.C. § 2085(b) is drawn at motors of less than 750 W and a top motor-powered speed under 20 mph on level ground, and states set their own class rules on top of that. Read your own state before you plan to ride it on a public path: our state-by-state e-bike law guide sets out where each one draws the line.

Frequently asked questions

How much does the Eunorau FAT-HS weigh?

36 kg — 79.4 lb — in Eunorau's geometry table, the same for both frame sizes. Eunorau's specification block on the same page shows 77.1 lb; we publish the geometry figure because it is the one given per frame size.

How fast is the FAT-HS?

Eunorau publishes a maximum speed of 28 mph. Because that is above the 20 mph federal low-speed line and the motor is rated at 1000 W, check your own state's rules before riding it on a public path — our state law guide covers all fifty.

How far will it actually go on one charge?

Eunorau's “up to 80 miles” is published with the second battery fitted. On the 720 Wh pack the bike ships with, plan on roughly the mid-thirties in the mixed, loose terrain this bike is bought for, and less in cold weather or on heavy throttle use.

Does the second battery fit both frame sizes?

No. Eunorau states the second battery is not compatible with the 17" frame, and that on the 19" the rear shock has to be locked out while it is installed. Both frames are the same price here, so choose the 19" if long range matters to you.

Is it a 1000W motor or 1500W?

Eunorau's specification lists 1000 W nominal for the Bafang M615. Its marketing copy on the same page describes over 1500 W of peak power. Nominal and peak are different measurements: 1000 W is the continuous rating, and it is the number that matters for how your state classifies the bike.

What is the Hunter X8?

The same bike. Eunorau titles this model “FAT-HS / Hunter X8” — FAT-HS is the engineering name and Hunter X8 is the name used for the hunting market.

Does it come with a manual?

A printed manual and a tool kit are listed in the box. Eunorau also publishes separate display, controller and shock documents; tell us which one you need and we will send our copy.

What warranty comes with it?

10 years on the frame and 24 months on the battery, motor and electrical components, against manufacturing defects, for the original purchaser. Register with Eunorau after purchase and keep your Redtail order confirmation. If you ever need it, we file the claim for you.

Can I order one today?
