Addmotor kept the chassis honest — differential, parking brake, three mechanical discs, suspension fork, KMC chain, Shimano 7-speed — and economized on electronics: a smaller 13.5Ah battery, a cadence sensor, a small display. That's the right way around. Electronics disappoint; a missing differential misbehaves.

Where Addmotor's own page prints more than one figure for the same spec, the table above carries the one we could verify twice, and this list names every such case and the figure we chose:

Price: $1,199 is Addmotor's live price; no machine-readable pre-sale price is published, so no compare-at is listed.
UL: we searched the Citytan's archived page and tables — no UL 2271 or UL 2849 claim appears, in contrast to its Citytri sibling. We print the absence; Addmotor's marketing phrase 'Ultimate Battery Safety & Protection' is not a certification and is not treated as one.

Which motor should I choose, 500W or 750W?

Same price, so pick by feel and terrain. The 500W (1,100W peak) is the gentler machine — smoother pull-away, plenty for flat errands, and the sensible choice for riders new to powered trikes. The 750W matches the rest of Addmotor's range and earns its keep on grades and with a full rear basket. Neither changes speed: both are capped at 20 mph.

What am I giving up versus the Citytri for $500 less?

Three published things: battery (13.5Ah (648Wh) vs 20Ah (960Wh) — 50-mile claim vs 90), UL certification (the Citytri claims 2271 & 2849; the Citytan claims none), and battery warranty tier (18 months vs 2 years, per Addmotor's policy). Is 50 miles of range enough?

For its mission, usually: Addmotor's 50-mile figure is a lightest-assist estimate (their own policy labels it so), and even at half that in mixed riding, a 5-mile daily errand loop charges once a week. If your rides regularly pass 15 miles round-trip, buy the bigger battery up front — packs cost more later than the $500 gap costs now.

Addmotor publishes 41.3 in long × 43.3 wide × 45.3 tall. Note the width: the Citytan folds shorter but wider than the Citytri, so it favors SUV cargo areas and garage corners over narrow sedan trunks. Why doesn't this one claim UL certification?

Only Addmotor can answer why; what we can tell you is what its page says, which is nothing — no UL 2271, no UL 2849, while the Citytri one shelf up claims both. We won't infer certification from silence in either direction.
