Why the Grandtan X
Both ends, real travel figures
An 80mm-travel oil-spring fork up front and rear suspension behind — Addmotor publishes the architecture instead of hiding it behind 'comfort' adjectives. On three wheels you can't unweight a wheel to dodge a pothole the way a bicycle rider does; suspension is how a trike stays comfortable on real streets.
Three 180mm rotors, cutoff sensors, parking brake
The X's brake spec reads like a checklist of what a heavy trike needs: 180mm rotors at every wheel (two on the rear axle), motor-cutoff sensors so power stops when braking starts, and a parking brake for slopes and loading. All published, all standard.

At a published 128 lb, the X is the heaviest Grandtan — the suspension hardware costs 18 lb over the base model.
Those 18 lb are the fork and the rear linkage doing daily work your spine otherwise does; it parks in the same garage bay, and a trike-rated hitch carrier handles transport when you need it.
The X showed zero owner reviews on Addmotor's store at our pull date.
It is the newest trim of the platform with 159 reviews on its base model — the frame, battery and drivetrain carry that record; the suspension is the only new variable, and it is covered by the same 2-year warranty we file claims under.
Only UL 2271 is claimed for the X, where the base Grandtan's page claims UL 2849 as well.

How to read this spec sheet
Where Addmotor's own page prints more than one figure for the same spec, the table above carries the one we could verify twice, and this list names every such case and the figure we chose:
- Price: $2,899 is Addmotor's live price. No machine-readable pre-sale price is published, so no compare-at figure is listed.
- The X's own spec table includes an NYC delivery-restriction row — the one bike in the range that prints the restriction in its table as well as the shipping policy.
- UL: this page claims UL 2271 only. We do not carry the base Grandtan's UL 2849 claim over to the X, because Addmotor doesn't.
- Payload is published as a single 380 lb figure for the X (the base Grandtan splits its rating as 350 rider + 100 basket).

Frequently asked questions
What does the X add over the base Grandtan, for $500?
Four published differences: rear suspension added to the 80mm fork (the base is front-only), a higher single payload rating (380 lb vs 350+100), 180mm rotors specified at all three wheels with motor-cutoff sensors, and included aluminum fenders plus horn. The trade: 18 lb more weight, one frame size instead of Standard/Plus, and no wheel-size choice. Smooth-pavement riders keep the $500; rough-pavement riders spend it.
Does a trike really need full suspension?
On perfect pavement, no. Everywhere else, a trike arguably needs it more than a bicycle: three wheel tracks hit three different sets of bumps, and you can't stand on the pedals to absorb an impact the way bicycle riders instinctively do — you're seated, always. The 80mm fork and rear suspension turn what would be jolts through the saddle into movement the frame handles.
Why does this one claim UL 2271 but not UL 2849?
We quote each Addmotor page exactly as published. The X's page claims UL 2271 — the battery-pack safety standard. The base Grandtan's page claims both 2271 and 2849 (the full electrical-system standard). Whether the X's system certification exists but is unstated, we can't say and won't guess; if the distinction matters for your building or insurer, email us and we'll get a written answer from Addmotor first.
Can it really carry a 380 lb rider?
Addmotor publishes 380 lb as the X's payload rating — the highest in the Grandtan family — carried on a 6061 aluminum frame, 4-inch fat tires, and dual 180mm rear rotors. That figure is the total the trike is rated to carry, so a 300 lb rider still has 80 lb of groceries in hand. As always, published ratings are the maker's engineering claim; we report them exactly.
Is it hard to assemble and how does it arrive?
It ships as freight — large box, adult signature required — with the trike substantially pre-assembled and final assembly (basket, handlebar alignment, pedals) left to you. Inspect on delivery, note any damage on the delivery paperwork before signing, and photograph the box: both our 48-hour window and Addmotor's shipping-damage rules turn on that documentation. If you'd rather not assemble it yourself, most local bike shops will do final assembly on a trike for a modest bench fee.
What warranty applies?
