Frequently asked questions

Standard or Plus — which Grandtan fits me?

Measure, don't guess: the Standard (24" front / 20" rear wheels) fits riders 5'2" to 6'4" with a 32.5–39 in saddle range; the Plus (26"/24" wheels) fits 5'5" to 6'5" at 33.5–40 in. Same price, same powertrain. Shorter riders and anyone prioritizing the lowest step-over should take the Standard; taller riders get more legroom on the Plus.

What does the differential actually do for me?

In any corner, the outer rear wheel travels farther than the inner one. Without a differential — which is how many cheaper trikes are built — one wheel drags or the trike resists turning, especially under power. The Grandtan's differential lets each rear wheel find its own speed, so cornering feels natural and tire wear stays even. You notice it most at exactly the low speeds trikes live at.

Is the battery actually UL-certified?

Addmotor's page claims both UL 2271 (the battery standard) and UL 2849 (the full e-bike electrical system standard) for the Grandtan, and names Samsung cells. We report their claims as published. If your building, insurer, or municipality requires documentation, email us and we'll obtain the certificates from Addmotor before you order.

What range should I actually expect?

Addmotor's own table says 40–85 miles, and their warranty page adds — with unusual honesty — that published range figures are estimates. The 85-mile end is PAS 1 (lightest assist); heavy throttle, hills, and full baskets pull you toward the 40-mile end. For errand-scale riding, either end of that spread is multiple days between charges.

Can you deliver it to New York City?

Not right now. Addmotor has suspended e-bike and trike shipments to all five NYC boroughs under its current shipping policy, and since they fulfill from their California warehouse, that restriction reaches our orders too.
