The Velotric Fold 1 Lite is Velotric's entry folder: a 48V, 500W hub (55 Nm), a 486Wh pack rated at 48 miles on assist and 40 on the throttle, and a speed limit you set from 12 to 28 mph, which Velotric lists as Class 1/2/3, at 61 lb. No colorway is orderable at Velotric today, so none is orderable here; the Fold 1 and Fold 1 Plus are in stock.

The Fold 1 Lite in detail

A 20 × 3.0 in folder
Velotric builds the Fold 1 Lite on 20 × 3.0 in tires in one size for riders from 4'9" to 6'5", with a 60 mm coil fork with lockout and steel full fenders.

500W and 55 Nm
A 48V, 500W hub with 55 Nm, per Velotric, with a cadence sensor, a removable thumb throttle and hydraulic disc brakes.

Class 1/2/3, set by you
Velotric lists the Fold 1 Lite as Class 1/2/3, ships it at 20 mph and lets you set the limit anywhere from 12 to 28 mph, so the class it rides in is your setting.

UL 2849 and UL 2271, as Velotric states
Velotric's specification states UL 2849 for the electrical system, UL 2271 for the battery and UL 2580 for its 18650 cells. If your building or insurer asks for the certificate document, ask us and we will request it from Velotric in writing.

Lights, fenders and a walk mode
A 60 lux headlight, a brake light built into the rear fender, steel full fenders, a USB phone charger and a 2.9 mph walk mode, per Velotric.
The honest ledger
Green flags
- Velotric states UL 2849 certification for the complete electrical system, UL 2271 for the battery and UL 2580 for the cells, in this model's own spec sheet.
- Velotric states a Class of “1/2/3” for this model and a rider-selectable speed limit, so the class it runs in is a setting you choose rather than a fixed property of the bike.
- Velotric publishes real geometry for this frame — stack, reach, stand-over and top-tube — not just a rider-height range.
- Velotric publishes throttle range and pedal-assist range separately — 40 Miles on throttle, 48 Miles on assist — instead of one blended number that flatters the bike.
Red flags
- No colorway is buyable at Velotric today, so none is buyable here.
What Velotric states about certification
Velotric's specification sheet for this model states the certifications below, quoted as written. If your building, landlord or insurer asks for a certificate document, ask us and we will request it from Velotric in writing.

UL 2271 — battery pack
Stated by VelotricThe battery row reads: “48V, 486Wh, IPX7, Certificated by UL 2271”.
UL 2580 — cells
Stated by VelotricThe cell row reads: “18650 cell, Certificated by UL 2580”.
ISO 4210 — bicycle safety

Class, speed and where you can ride
Built to the US three-class framework — the class is a setting you select
Velotric states a Class of “1/2/3” for this model, which means the class it operates in is a setting you select rather than a fixed property of the machine.
The motor is specified at 500W. The federal low-speed electric bicycle definition at 15 U.S.C. § 2085 tops out at 750W, so this sits below it — which is why a bike like this can be ridden as a Class 1, 2 or 3 e-bike where those classes are recognized.
What the classes mean in practice: Class 1 is pedal-assist only up to 20 mph; Class 2 adds a throttle up to 20 mph; Class 3 is pedal-assist to 28 mph and is the class most often restricted on shared-use paths. Which classes are allowed where is set by your state and often by your city or park district.
We are not going to tell you this bike “is” a Class 3 e-bike, because that depends on how it is set and where you ride it. Tell us your state and we will put the answer in an email you can keep.
We publish a state-by-state e-bike law hub, and if you want your own state answered in writing before you order, ask us and we will put it in an email you can keep.
How to read this spec sheet
Nominal and peak are different numbers
Velotric publishes a nominal motor rating and, on several models, a peak figure alongside it (“750W (1300W Peak Power)”). Nominal is the continuous rating that the federal low-speed electric bicycle definition and state statutes are written against; peak is a short-burst ceiling. When you compare against a brand that quotes only peak, you are not comparing like with like.
Two range figures, not one
Velotric quotes throttle range and pedal-assist range separately rather than blending them into a single flattering number. The assist figure is the higher of the two and assumes you are contributing. Plan around the throttle figure if you intend to use one.
Class is a setting, not a fact about the bike
These bikes ship at a default speed limit and can be adjusted within a stated range. What is legal where you ride depends on that setting and on your state and city — which is why we will not print a class badge and call it done.
Size and fit
Velotric quotes a rider-height range of Regular: 4'9" ~ 6'5" for the Fold 1 Lite. If you are near either end of it, send us your inseam and we will tell you honestly whether it will work rather than sell you the wrong frame.
| Regular | |||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Height | 4'9'' ~ 6'5'' | Seat Tube Length | 410mm | Head Tube Length | 200mm |
| Stack | 531mm | Reach | 445mm | Stand-Over Height | 400mm |
| Top-Tube Length (horizontal) | 634mm | Min Saddle Height | 800mm | Max Saddle Height | 990mm |
Velotric publishes stack, reach, stand-over and top-tube figures for this frame — the numbers that actually decide fit. Most brands at this price publish a height range and stop.

What we counted
Measured by Redtail
We pulled Velotric's entire published catalog on 2026-08-24 — all 125 products and every variant — and counted what could actually be bought that day. Velotric could sell 80 of its own 102 published bike configurations on the pull date — 78%. 6 of its 20 bike models had no buyable colorway at all.
Across the accessory and parts range, 152 of 166 variants were buyable. We mirror that availability daily rather than list a color nobody can ship — which is why some options on this page may be greyed out today and back tomorrow.
Warranty
Buy the bike from Redtail and Redtail handles the claim. Send photos or video of the issue with your order number and we take it from there — we file and manage it rather than sending you to a manufacturer inbox. Velotric also keeps its own customer-service line open to every owner for troubleshooting, for the life of the bike, whoever sold it.
Who covers you
Velotric's warranty states: “Only applicable to United States e-bike purchases from velotricbike.com. Bikes purchased outside the Velotric official website shall contact their original dealer for after-sale service.” Redtail is a dealer, so after-sale service on this bike is Redtail's and the claim comes to us. Velotric adds that “All Velotric bike owners are entitled to contact the Velotric CS Team for troubleshooting service throughout the lifetime of bikes.” — that part is open to every owner, whoever sold the bike.
What Velotric stands behind, on a direct purchase
- 2 years — Electrical — motor, throttle, PAS panel, controller, wiring harness, lights, IOT module, sensor, fingerprint module, FindMy module, charger, display
- 2 years — Battery — designed to retain up to 75% of original capacity over the period
- 1 year — Other essential components — suspension forks, stem, handlebar, headset, brakes (excluding pads), bottom bracket, crankset, pedals, kickstand, rims, hub, freewheel, cassette, derailleur, shifter
- 1 year — Accessories
- Runs from the date of delivery of the original purchase.
The five-year structure tier names T1, T1ST, T1ST Plus, Breeze, Tempo. The Fold 1 Lite is not among them.
Velotric publishes three warranty documents, and they disagree
- velotricbike.com/pages/warranty: 5-year structure row naming T1, T1ST, T1ST Plus, Breeze and Tempo; battery 2 years, designed to retain up to 75% of original capacity.
- Velotric support-center policy (updated 2026-08-21): the same structure row narrowed to 'T1 & T1ST only'; battery expressed as 2 years or 'up to 300 charging cycles, whichever occurs first'.
- Velotric owner's manual, p.100 (PDF deposit copy held): a flat 2-year term whose Covered Components include frame, forks and brake — no 5-year tier at all.
We quote all three and present none as governing, because Velotric has not said which one wins. It matters less than it looks here — your cover is Redtail's — but you should know the manufacturer's own documents are not consistent.
What is excluded
- Consumables and wear parts — tires, tubes, brake pads, cables and housing, grips, chain, spokes, bearings, free hub bodies, sprockets
- Paint and graphics; suspension forks and suspension parts are excluded from the frame definition
- Third-party components such as drivetrain, brakes or suspension — refer to that manufacturer
- Improper assembly, crash, neglect, improper repair or maintenance, corrosion
Velotric's warranty terms as published at www.velotricbike.com/pages/warranty, read 2026-08-24. Reproduced as context for what the manufacturer stands behind on a direct purchase; your cover is Redtail's. First owner / original purchaser only. Subsequent owners are not covered, though Velotric invites them to contact its CS team.

Frequently asked questions
What are the specifications of the Velotric Fold 1 Lite?
Velotric's specification: a 48V, 500W hub (55 Nm); a 48V 486Wh battery; 48 miles on pedal assist and 40 on throttle; Class 1/2/3 with a 12 to 28 mph limit; 61 lb; 20 × 3.0 in tires; hydraulic disc brakes; a 60 mm coil fork with lockout; one size for riders 4'9" to 6'5".
Has the Velotric Fold 1 Lite been discontinued?
Velotric still lists the Fold 1 Lite with its full specification, and we will tell you when a colorway is orderable again if you ask us.
Is the Velotric Fold 1 Lite UL certified?
Velotric's specification states UL 2849 for the Fold 1 Lite's electrical system and UL 2271 for its battery. If your building or insurer asks for the certificate document, ask us and we will request it from Velotric in writing.
What class of e-bike is the Fold 1 Lite?
Velotric lists it as Class 1/2/3: it ships at 20 mph and you can set the limit from 12 to 28 mph. Above 20 mph it rides as a Class 3, which some paths do not admit, so check the rule where you ride.
Can I still buy the Velotric Fold 1 Lite?
Not today: no colorway is orderable at Velotric, so none is orderable here. The Fold 1 and Fold 1 Plus are in stock.
The bottom line
The Fold 1 Lite is Velotric's entry folder — 500W, 486Wh and a speed limit you set — and it is not orderable today. The Fold 1 at $1,299 and the Fold 1 Plus at $1,499 are the folders to buy now.
