Freesky Cheetah MT-380
The Cheetah MT-380 goes further than anything else Freesky makes: a 48V 60Ah pack rated 120–200 miles, on a moped-style frame with dual 2,000W motors and a 5A charger. It is also the only bike in the range with no published UL certificate of any kind, and the heaviest at 122 lb.
- 4,000WPeak power
- 240N·mTorque
- 60AhBattery
- 40 mphMfr. top speed
- 120–200 miMfr. range
Every figure above is Freesky's own published specification for the Cheetah MT-380, read from www.freeskycycle.com/products/cheetah-380 on 2026-08-24. Manufacturer claims, not Redtail test results — we label them that way rather than dress them up.

Who the Cheetah MT-380 is for
Buy it if
- Distance above all else — 120 miles at the pessimistic end is 50% further than the next bike in the range
- Moped-style riders who want a long saddle and a seating position rather than a bicycle posture
- Anyone doing a route where charging is not an option at the far end
- Dual-motor traction with the biggest pack Freesky fits
Skip it if
- You want published UL certification. Freesky publishes none for this model — the details are in the certification section below
- You will have to move it by hand. At 122 lb this is 27 lb heavier than the Ranger bikes and 45 lb over the Rocky Pro
- You want a colour choice. Red is the only one made
- You need road-legal. 40 mph is twelve past the Class 3 ceiling
The Cheetah MT-380 in detail

60Ah, and what it buys
A 48V 60Ah pack — more than twice the capacity of the 25Ah bikes and a third more than the Alaska Pro's 45Ah — rated by Freesky at 120–200 miles. Nothing else in this range is close. If your reason for buying is that you keep running out of battery, this is the answer to that specific problem.

What Freesky publishes for this model, and what they do not
Every other bike in this range has a TÜV SÜD certificate we can link. This one has none. Freesky's page carries an image captioned “UL2271 Certified Battery”, but no certificate document is published for the MT-380, and no user manual either — the only model in the range missing both. That is a documentation gap, not a finding about how the bike is built, and we are careful about the difference. We have asked Freesky for the certificate. The day they publish one that names MT-380, this section changes and we will date the change.

A 5A charger, because it needs one
Freesky supplies a US Standard 5A smart charger here rather than the 3A unit fitted to every other bike, and still quotes 8–10 hours. That is the arithmetic of a 60Ah pack: even at nearly double the current, filling twice the battery takes longer than filling a small one.
Moped-style, 20-inch wheels, 122 lb
A moped-style frame with a long saddle on 20.0" × 4.0" fat tires, a downhill double-shoulder 120 mm fork, dual suspension, and uprated 2.3T × 180 mm four-piston hydraulic brakes — the only bike in the range with a brake specification of its own, which at 122 lb is the right call.
2,000W + 2,000W, 240 N·m
Two brushless peak motors, 120 N·m each, rated by Freesky at 40 mph. The same total power as the Ranger Air and Eurostar Turbo, carrying 27 more pounds and nearly two and a half times the battery.
The honest ledger
Green flags
- Brakes are the real thing: 2.3T*180MM 4-piston Hydraulic Brakes. Four-piston hydraulics on a bike this heavy is not a given at this price.
- Suspension: Front and Rear Dual Suspension, with a Downhill Double Shoulder Suspension Fork 120 MM Travel.
- Rated to carry 400 lbs.
- Charging time: 8–10 hours.
Red flags
- At 40 mph assisted, this is outside every US e-bike class. Off-road and private land, not bike paths.
- Freesky publishes peak wattage only — no rated figure. Under our own rating system an undisclosed specification scores zero, and we do not guess at it.
- No UL 2849 system certificate is published for this model at all.
- No UL 2271 battery certificate is published on this model's page.
- It weighs 122 lbs. Getting it onto a hitch rack is a two-person job.
- Cadence (speed) sensor rather than a torque sensor — assist comes on with pedal rotation, not with how hard you push.
What Freesky publishes about certification
A badge image on a product page is not a certificate. Below is what the certificate document itself says — issuer, number, standard edition, the models printed on its face — and what it does not cover. Every PDF is hosted by us, so the link will still work if Freesky reorganises their files.
UL 2849 (complete e-bike electrical system)
Not establishedFreesky publishes no UL 2849 certificate for this model. Every other bike in the range has one. We state that plainly rather than borrow a stablemate's certificate.
UL 2271 (battery pack)
Not establishedFreesky links no UL 2271 battery certificate on this model's page.
All 3 UL 2271 battery certificates in this range — certificate no. U10 128702 0001 Rev. 00, U10 128702 0003 Rev. 00, U10 128702 0009 Rev. 00 — carry the same remark on their face: “The battery is used for off-road LEVs.” That is the certifying body describing the intended use, not our characterisation of it.
Speed and the law
Outside the federal and state e-bike definitions — off-road and private land
Freesky rates this bike at 40 mph under pedal assist. The federal low-speed electric bicycle definition (15 U.S.C. § 2085) and every state three-class framework stop at 28 mph, so this machine sits outside them on speed alone — before wattage is even reached. It is not a Class 1, 2 or 3 e-bike, and we will not sell it as one.
Freesky does not publish a rated (nominal) motor wattage for any bike in this range; the figures they publish are peak. The statutory tests are written against the rated figure, so the wattage limb of those tests cannot be run on published data. We say that rather than substitute the peak number, which would be the wrong number.
Freesky's own manual puts it this way: “laws regulating the use of battery-operated bicycles on public roads, parks, and other open areas may vary by state and locality. It is important to consult with your local authorities before riding your e-bike in public areas.” Buy it for private land, OHV areas, and anywhere motor-vehicle rules allow. Check your own state and city before you ride it anywhere public — and ask us, we will put the answer in writing.
We publish a state-by-state e-bike law hub, and if you want your own state answered in writing before you order, ask us and we will put it in an email you can keep.
How to read this spec sheet
Peak, not rated
Freesky publishes peak motor wattage on every model and a rated (nominal) figure on none of them — not on the product pages, not in the comparison table, not in any of the seven user manuals. Peak is the short-burst ceiling; rated is the continuous figure that statutes are written against. A Freesky peak number and another brand's rated number are two different quantities, and comparing them directly will mislead you.
Range is a range for a reason
Every range figure here is Freesky's, quoted as a span. Plan around the bottom of it. Rider weight, terrain, temperature, tyre pressure and throttle use all take from the top.
Top speed is unloaded
Manufacturer top speeds are measured under favourable conditions. They are useful for comparing models within a range and much less useful as a promise about your commute.
Size and fit
Freesky quotes a rider-height range of 5'4"–6'5" for the Cheetah MT-380, on a Long Saddle. That is the manufacturer's fit window, not a guarantee — if you are near either end of it, tell us your inseam and we will tell you honestly whether it will work.

What we counted
Measured by Redtail
We pulled Freesky's entire published catalogue on 2026-08-24 — all 60 products and every variant — and counted what could actually be bought that day. Freesky could sell 30 of its own 38 published bike configurations on the pull date — 79%. 0 of its 10 bike models had no buyable colourway at all.
Across the accessory and parts range, 108 of 136 variants were buyable. We mirror that availability daily rather than list a colour nobody can ship — which is why some options on this page may be greyed out today and back tomorrow.
Between 2026-08-23 and 2026-08-24 three Camouflage colourways rose $50, one accessory went out of stock, and one product was withdrawn from the catalogue entirely. That is why this page is re-checked daily rather than copied once.
Warranty
Buy the bike from Redtail and Redtail handles the claim. Send photos or video of the issue with your order number and we take it from there — we file and manage the claim with Freesky on your behalf, and we do not send you to the manufacturer to argue it yourself.
Who covers you
Freesky's published warranty says, in its own words: “This warranty applies only to products purchased directly from the official FREESKY website (www.freeskycycle.com).” and directs buyers from authorised dealers to “their respective warranty policies”. Redtail is a dealer — so the cover on your bike is Redtail's, and the claim comes to us.
What Freesky stands behind
- Motor, battery and controller: 24 months (orders on or after 13 November 2025); 18 months before that date
- All other components: 12 months
- The applicable warranty period begins on the original purchase date.
What is excluded
- Consumables and wear parts — tyres, tubes, brake pads, cables and housing, grips, chain, spokes
- Incorrect assembly, water damage, accidents, or improper or negligent use
- Operation or maintenance contrary to the product's maintenance instructions
- Defects inherent to the normal service life of the product
Freesky's warranty terms as published at www.freeskycycle.com/pages/warranty-policy, read 2026-08-24. Reproduced as context for what the manufacturer stands behind; your cover is Redtail's.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Freesky Cheetah MT-380 UL certified?
Freesky publishes no UL certificate for this model. Every other bike in the range has a TÜV SÜD America certificate we can link as a PDF; the MT-380 has neither a UL 2849 system certificate nor a UL 2271 battery certificate on its product page, and no user manual. Freesky's page does show an image captioned “UL2271 Certified Battery”. An image is not a certificate, so we do not present it as one. We have asked Freesky to publish the document and will update this page, with the date, when they do.
How far does the Cheetah MT-380 go?
Freesky rates 120–200 miles from a 48V 60Ah pack — the longest range in the range by a wide margin. That is the manufacturer's figure, not a tested one. The Alaska Pro M-520 is next at 98–175 miles.
Is the Cheetah MT-380 street legal?
No. At 40 mph assisted it is outside the federal low-speed electric bicycle definition and every state three-class framework, which stop at 28 mph. It is a moped-style off-road machine. Off-road and private land only, and check your local rules before riding it anywhere public.
How much does the Cheetah MT-380 weigh?
122 lb — the heaviest bike Freesky makes, 27 lb over the Ranger Air and 45 lb over the Rocky Pro. Plan your rack and your storage accordingly.
What colours does the Cheetah MT-380 come in?
Red only. It is the single-colour model in the Freesky range, and it is in stock as of 23 August 2026.
Why does the Cheetah MT-380 take 8–10 hours to charge with a bigger charger?
Because the pack is bigger still. Freesky supplies a 5A charger here against the 3A used elsewhere, but it is filling 60Ah rather than 25Ah — so despite nearly double the current, the fill takes longer.
The bottom line
If range is the reason you are shopping, nothing else here competes — 60Ah and 120–200 miles is a genuine gap in the market, and the uprated brakes and 5A charger show the bike was designed around the pack rather than having one bolted on. What is missing is paperwork: no UL certificate and no manual are published for this model, alone in the range. That is a supplier documentation gap and it is fixable. If certification on paper matters to you, buy the Swift Horse X-6E instead and wait for us to get the Cheetah's certificate published.
