Ridstar Q20 1500W Fat Tire Electric Bike, 48V 20Ah
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission has told consumers to stop using the Ridstar Q20 immediately over a battery fire hazard and a front-wheel detachment hazard, and its instruction is not to sell it or give it away. We list it, and the Commission's words open this description so that you read them first.
The March 19, 2026 warning covers the "Ridstar Q20 and Q20 Pro e-bikes": "The e-bikes' batteries and wires can ignite, posing a fire hazard to consumers." The Commission "is aware of 11 reports of fire, including one burn injury, five reports of smoke inhalation, and two reports of property damage totaling over $40,000." Its instruction: "remove the battery from the e-bike immediately and dispose of the battery following local hazardous waste disposal procedures. Do not sell or give away these hazardous batteries."
The June 25, 2026 warning covers the "Ridstar Q20 and Q20 Lite e-bikes": "The front wheel can detach without warning, posing a crash hazard to consumers." The Commission "is aware of 32 reports of the front wheel detaching, including 31 reports of injuries such as concussions, broken bones, cuts, scrapes, and bruises." Its instruction: "stop using the e-bikes immediately and dispose of them. Do not sell or give away these hazardous e-bikes."
Neither notice is a recall, and there is no repair, refund or replacement program. The March notice states that "the manufacturer, Huizhou Xingqishi Sporting Goods Co., Ltd., of China, has refused to agree to an acceptable recall"; the June notice states that it "has been unresponsive to CPSC's requests for information about these products or a recall."
Before either US notice, the UK Office for Product Safety and Standards published Product Safety Report 2506-0011 on 19 June 2025 for the "Ridstar E-Bikes Q20-Plus, Q20-Mini, E26 Pro and Chargers", risk level "Serious": "the charger has poor quality soldering, and the transformer does not meet the minimum requirements for creepage and clearance distances." Its corrective measure: "The import has been rejected at the border."
Two product-liability suits over a detached Ridstar front wheel were filed in 2026 and are undecided: Cunanan v. Amazon.com Services LLC (D. Or., filed April 7, 2026) alleges a Ridstar Q20 caused "numerous facial fractures"; L.E. v. Walmart Inc. (Palm Beach County, filed July 30, 2026, removed to S.D. Fla.) alleges a Walmart-bought Ridstar's front wheel "unexpectedly detached during normal operation" and injured a minor. Both are allegations, not findings.
If you already own one: the Commission's instruction is to stop riding it and dispose of it through your local household hazardous-waste program, not to sell it or give it away. Several bikes in this range carry two wattages on the same page and leave you to pick. This one does not: Ridstar publishes 1500W for the Q20 1500W in its title and in its copy, and that is the figure in the table below. When you are checking what your state allows, one published number is worth more than a bigger one you cannot pin down.
This is the complete set on a single-motor Q20. Hydraulic dual brakes bite harder for less hand pressure and hold when the levers are soaked. Suspension front and rear keeps the tires on the ground instead of skipping. Seven speeds leave you something to pedal. And a published 330 lb rating covers a big rider with a loaded rack, rather than leaving you to guess.
A pack does more work behind a smaller motor. The same 960 watt-hours here feed a 1500W draw rather than a 2000W one, which is why this bike's range claims are proportionate to its battery in a way that several bigger-motor listings in the range are not. A one-year limited warranty issued by Ridstar Bikes, beginning from the original owner's receipt or purchase date, whichever is later, as verified by Ridstar, as published on its warranty page and retrieved 2026-08-26. One caveat worth knowing: Ridstar's own product listings print a bullet headed "ONE-YEAR WARRANTY" that then states a warranty on the motor, battery and charger — on some models one year, on others two — while its warranty page states one year for the whole bike. Every page states the figure from that model's own listing and says the page disagrees.

Among the bikes we found 4 pairs of listings that are the same machine listed twice, counted only where the descriptions are byte-identical or the two listings share most of the same image files. The widest gap is the Q30 Pro 4000W, which appears at $899.00 and $1269.00 on the same storefront. That is why the price on this page is matched to a named listing rather than to “the manufacturer”.
Redtail original analysis, counted from Ridstar's public storefront feed and collection endpoints on 2026-08-26; every price cross-checked against a second, independently fetched endpoint. Method: Two listings are called the same bike only where their description text is byte-identical after markup is stripped, or they share 60% or more of the same image FILES. Shared boilerplate paragraphs alone were not enough — an earlier pass that keyed on the first 400 characters produced four false pairs and was discarded.
The Q20 1500W is a fat-tire bike for trails, tracks and private land, and its published figures are the ones to check before you ride it anywhere public.
Ridstar publishes the motor as 1500W and the top speed as 28 mph. Federal law defines the low-speed electric bicycle category this way:
the term “low-speed electric bicycle” means a two- or three-wheeled vehicle with fully operable pedals and an electric motor of less than 750 watts (1 h.p.), whose maximum speed on a paved level surface, when powered solely by such a motor while ridden by an operator who weighs 170 pounds, is less than 20 mph.

Set those two published numbers against that threshold and this bike sits outside the federal low-speed electric bicycle definition. What that means where you live is decided by your state: some apply moped, motor-driven cycle or off-highway vehicle rules above the federal line, and those can reach registration, insurance, licensing, helmets and which paths and trails are open to you. Some states set their own wattage ceiling instead. Check yours before you ride on any public road, bike path or trail.

The Q20 Lite and the Q30 Lite both sit at $899. This one is ten dollars more.
For those ten dollars you get a third more battery than the Q20 Lite — 960 watt-hours against 720 — plus hydraulic brakes instead of mechanical discs and suspension at both ends instead of a front fork. Against the Q30 Lite it is 960 watt-hours against 749, and hydraulics again. It is the cheapest bike here that publishes the full component set.
Ridstar publishes 50 miles in pure electric mode and 75 miles with pedal assist, with no rider weight, terrain or assist level attached. The table here carries 50, the lower of the two.
Both figures are at least proportionate to the 960 watt-hours in the pack, which is more than can be said everywhere in this range — a 180-mile claim on a 1,040Wh battery is a different kind of number. Ride it on throttle and plan around the lower figure; pedal and you will beat it. Want more headroom than that? The Q50 carries 1,200 watt-hours.
Ridstar states a 330 lb maximum load for rider and cargo, but publishes no frame weight and no recommended rider height for this model.
The load rating is the figure most people are actually asking about, and it is published. For the rest — whether it clears your garage door, whether your hitch rack takes it — send us the measurement and we will check it against the crate before you order rather than after it arrives.
Ridstar publishes no certification document, no torque rating and no controller specification for this bike, which is the norm across this whole product category rather than something particular to this model.

After having a terrible experience with another company trying to order the same bike (Ridstar Q20), Milad from Zeus Ebikes went above and beyond to give an exceptional customer service. He answered every question in detail about the bike and made me feel really comfortable as he's laid back and puts zero pressure on you to purchase, which was a plus.
I asked if we could arrange a pickup instead of shipping (as I live close to the Toronto warehouse) to save on the included shipping expense for the company and absorb the discount, and despite this request kinda interrupting their routine (from a logistics standpoint), Milad was happy to help me out and arrange for that.
