Why the Spytan
Why two wheels belong in front
A conventional delta trike steers with one narrow wheel and carries its width behind. The Spytan's tadpole layout puts the paired wheels where the steering and braking happen — so corners load two contact patches instead of one, and hard stops squat the trike level instead of diving. It's the layout recumbent sports trikes use, brought to an upright errand machine.
Finally, a trike for smaller riders
The published window — 4'9" to 5'9" — is the lowest-starting fit in Addmotor's range by four inches, with the saddle dropping to 28 in and an 11 in standover. Riders who've been told to 'just tiptoe' on standard frames get actual measurements here, and the whole cockpit is scaled to match.
The front rack is for a friend
The removable front rack (23.4 × 15.7 in) sits in the rider's sightline — which is exactly the point: Addmotor markets it for pets, with a matching carrier accessory, and riding with your dog where you can see them beats a rear basket bark-and-hope arrangement. Hydraulics at every corner

Addmotor's own pages disagree on top speed: the stat strip says 15 mph, the technical table says up to 20.
We print 15 — the conservative reading of their own conflict — and flag it in the notes. Either figure suits what a tadpole is for: carving stable, planted corners, not chasing traffic.
The fit window genuinely stops at 5'9", and the low cockpit is why.
The low cockpit is the layout's whole advantage — a center of gravity that corners flat. Taller riders aren't squeezed in; they're better served by the Grandtan, and we'd rather fit you than sell you. See the Grandtan M-340.

How to read this spec sheet
Where Addmotor's own page prints more than one figure for the same spec, the table above carries the one we could verify twice, and this list names every such case and the figure we chose:
- Price: $2,199 is Addmotor's live price; no machine-readable pre-sale price is published, so no compare-at is listed.
- Top speed: the Spytan's stat strip prints 15 MPH; its technical table prints 'Up to 20MPH'; the sibling SpytanX's table prints 15 for both machines. Two of three sources say 15, and we plan around 15.
- Rotor placement: the table's '180mm Front / 2×180mm Rear' line is shared with delta-layout siblings; on a two-front-wheel machine the paired rotors sit at the paired wheels. We quote their line and note the geometry.
- Payload: the strip's 300+80 split and the table's 380 total are the same number presented two ways — not a conflict.
- No differential appears in the table — correct for the layout: a tadpole's single rear drive wheel needs none.

Frequently asked questions
What's different about two wheels in front?
Steering and braking both happen at the front of any vehicle — the tadpole layout simply puts the extra wheel where the work is. Practical differences: cornering feels planted because two patches share the load; hard braking is more stable; and the machine is wider at the front, which drivers actually notice sooner. The cost is a wider turning circle than a delta trike — plan your driveway accordingly.
Is it really 15 mph or 20?
Addmotor prints both — 15 on the stat strip, 20 in one table — and the SpytanX's comparison table votes 15 for both machines. We publish 15 as the honest planning figure and flag the conflict rather than pick the flattering number. If the difference decides your purchase, tell us and we'll get Addmotor's written answer first.
Can my dog actually ride on it?
That's the design intent, per Addmotor's own marketing: the removable 23.4 × 15.7 in front rack pairs with their Pet Carrier accessory — though note their carrier's own compatibility list, which we'll check against your setup before you order. In-sight pet carriage is the tadpole's party trick; harness the pet, keep speeds low, and mind the 80 lb rack rating.
Why is the fit window so small?
Deliberate design, not an oversight: the Spytan's whole cockpit — 28-inch minimum saddle, 11-inch standover, 44-inch bar — is scaled for riders 4'9" to 5'9" who are poorly served by standard trikes. Taller riders aren't cramped so much as simply out of spec; the Landtan next door covers 5'1"–5'9" with a delta layout, and the rest of the range goes up from there.
Does it really fold?
Yes — to a published 50.4 × 42.1 × 31.5 in with the saddle removed. Read those numbers against your cargo space honestly: it's SUV and pickup territory, not sedan-trunk, and the 126 lb lift is the real constraint. For most owners the fold's value is garage and RV storage rather than daily transport.
